Skywind crashes

Submitted by Alexus_wk on

Hey guys! I'm from Russia and that's why I think my English is so bad. I have a problem now. I installed Skywind and everything was OK, Jiub talked with me, the guard unleashed me, but when I tried to get out of the ship, Skywind after very long loading crashed without any error message. I had this problem with all versions of Skywind. I hope you can help me. That's all.

What are your computer specifications like? I've not been able to load Skywind with textures set to hi-res anymore, it crashes on load up.

Firstly try lowering all your graphical settings to see if this could be cause of the problem.

Yes it depends on what the GPU can support, I have for example a Geforce 6200 128MB. I can run the game with just a few FPS on extremely low settings. As I currently do not play the game but just do modding I am happy with it. If I set the settings higher the game will crash when loading or starting up.

bwahh?!! you need a new video card. but if your video card is that bad i'm assuming you'll need an entirely new computer.

Its a bit of an unusual one, because I can run Skyrim itself with hi-res, but not Skywind. I've done a lot of analysis between the games (one of my little obsessions to get Skywind running as beautiful and optimal as possible) and one big difference is the number of textures per model that Skywind (from morrowind by proxy) has greater numbers than Skyrim. So work will be done (only with help) to better UV map and optimize. Hopefully this might help with stability and performance.

But there is other stuff as well, like the open cities, no lower distance object detail, possible buggy models, etc, etc, so will be a long time before we can know for sure (or at all).
