Issue with Meldor the Armourer in Balmora

Submitted by The Frederick on
Hi all, I've been playing around with Morroblivion, and so far, it's pretty amazing. The only real issue I've had so far is that I when I go into Meldor the armourer's shop in Balmora, he's not there, and in the place where I suspect he should be is a big yellow "!" diamond. Any suggestions?

I cannot find any NPC named "Meldor" anywhere in Morrowind. In which shop do you expect to see him? Please remember that my experience with Morrowind is limited to Morroblivion. You need to be VERY specific.

This is the guy. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Meldor He's a Bosmer who sells armour and possibly weapons, he should be in a shop in Balmora called "Meldor: Armorer". I looked through the file in the CS and couldn't find him there.

Sorry, this guy did not make it through conversion. There is no "Meldor" in Morroblivon. I can see that The Queen of The Ashlands had apparently started working to replace him, but obviously never finished. I have no idea what she was doing, but there is a copy of Dagoth Gares in that shop. I cannot begin to guess what she was thinking or planning on doing with this. If you have a Yellow Diamond instead of Dagoth Gares, that probably means you have not installed the support files properly or at all. That will also explain some of your other Yellow Diamonds :) I will do my best to replace this guy in a future release, but for now I would avoid this shop :)

I actually have the diamond AND Dagoth Gares. Thanks for looking into it. BTW, in regards to the other yellow diamonds, I accidentally installed the support files into the wrong folder. I fixed it earlier and have been playing for a while now. :)

Meldor did make it through the conversion when I ran the converter last time. NPC's usually do. I hope this does'nt have anything to do with Armors Restored {he was wearing trollbone}. Anyways he's just a normal merchant ... no one special with any scripts or quests ... so he should be easy to remake. Dagoth Gares does not belong here ... He'd make short work of any visitors.

There is no Meldor in the file. There is a Cell, an Activator, and two Containers that have "Meldor" in their names, but NO NPC. I will rebuild him in the next version. Frederick, if you would please, get a copy of FormIDFinder from Nexus and tell me what the Yellow Diamond is supposed to be. There are no Yellow Diamonds for me (Refscope does not work on missing meshes, you need FormIDFinder).

I just realized that I think I know what the Yellow Diamonds are. There is an Orcish Cuirass and Greaves on the floor behind the counter. Is this where you see the Diamonds? Do you see any armor? I will need to include Orcish ground models and Icons in the Support Files because they are not part of a Default conversion. I prevented Ebony, Dwarven, Iron, Legion, and Steel from being replaced as they typically would be so that they came through with their Morrowind ID's, Icons, and Ground Models, but pointed their Wearable pieces at Vvardenfell Imports or Vanilla Oblivion. Ebony, Dwarven, and Legion ground models are replaced with Vvardenfell Imports, but Iron, Orcish, and Steel probably are not. I will post an updated version of the Support Files 2 later today.

Hashmi1Meldor did make it through the conversion when I ran the converter last time.
A thought occurs; does the regional version of Morrowind ever affect the conversion? I imagine most people on this site would be using the US version, while I'm using the European version.
Hashmi1Dagoth Gares does not belong here ... He'd make short work of any visitors.
Interestingly enough, he's not aggressive.

Yes, I was just about to say, it's the Orcish equipment that's causing it.

Of Course, I know that Dagoth Gares is not a merchant in a shop in Balmora. The Queen of The Ashlands had probably placed him there as a placeholder and meant to get back to him but never did. I will replace Meldor in the next release. I am almost through the first of the three Fourth Stage Quests, Redoran Hortator, so when I finish that I will attend to Meldor and package up the Orcish Ground models. On the other hand, I have NO idea how to set up a duel in the Vivec Arena, so this will be interesting... I will release this later today, provided I don't get too distracted with Halloween :)

v011 of the Master File gets rid of the Dagoth Gares Clone and adds Meldor back to his shop where he belongs. I'm sure that I didn't do him properly, so if there is anything about him I should change, just let me know.
