I was actually really looking forward to Skyblivion, not sure if it's ever going to get off the ground though, at least not within the next year or so.

What I don't understand is why we don't focus more on Skyblivion than Skywind, seeing as how Morrowind has had more than its fair share of remakes already. Oblivion gets nothing. Seriously.

Once skywind is more complete and people have contributed what they can and have nothing left to do hopefully they will turn their talents towards skyblivion, instead of just disappear

I don't know about you guys but... Disappearing sounds kinda good.lol jk

"Seriously"? You are free to focus on it more yourself, that's why I made Skyblivion - to attract people willing to work. Not to tell others what they should do just because someone thinks so and wants something.

Agreed, if your not or don't want to work on skywind but want to see skyblivion then work on something! That's why the master is functional, I do want to see skyblivion, Well mostly just the skyvering isles lol, but I'm way too busy with voice acting even just organizing and trying to find people using my phone is taking up all my free time, let alone implementing everything when I finally get my pc back! Can't wait for that, big voice update will be coming then, so long as corresponding quests are completed that is, but when/if the voice acting is finished I'll definitely look into trying to help for skyblivion, people can say they want to help or want to see this or whatever but until you actually step out and do something nothing will ever get done, I always see people like zilav getting frustrated with people about saying they want this or they want that but not trying to contribute to get what they want, and the thing is hes right, I knew absolutely nothing about Modding when I started here, I could barely install a mod properly lol, I'm a console gamer lol don't judge me!, but I wanted to see skywind so bad I started to learn my way around the ck and watched tutorials and started helping with npcs, learning most of this stuff is so easy a monkey can do it you just have to put in the effort, then when I saw the voice acting was not going anywhere people kept quitting and there was no leadership and people were asking for someone to take over, so I put down my little console gamer purse and stepped up and took over for them, all it took is someone to put in some time and effort to learn, now voices are being put in, voicetypes are in the master, quality is being monitored and we are getting actors constantly showing up, and a few disappearing, but it's still the most active thread on the site, What im trying to get at is if I (a no experience barely knew my way around a pc) can contribute so can anybody, just stop saying and start doing , everyone here who is contributing big or small is self taught watch some tutorials fiddle around learn by doing and get contributing anyone can do it! Ahem anyways nice mask ice! Excuse any grammatical errors lol

And don't be afraid to suck... the road to success is paved with failure. Learning what not to do has a funny way of turning into knowing what to do.

What I don't understand is why we don't focus more on Skyblivion than Skywind, seeing as how Morrowind has had more than its fair share of remakes already. Oblivion gets nothing. Seriously.

Theres lots of reasons; most of the talented modders have more interest in morrowind than oblivion. There is a two generation gap between the games, so the ability to bring the content into the newer gaming engine has more impact. Because of the remakes there is also a large foundation for assets that can help to broaden the impact of the game. Oblivion just doesn't have these things going for it.

I personally think that oblivion will be better served in the next TES6 engine rather than Skyrims. There has been a shift in the way Skywind is being made as well, in the fact that its not just a conversion, but a complete overhaul to modernize the game. As I said before oblivion doesn't really have anything assets wise new to bring to the table, so will on the whole remain closer to a straight port. Advantages are that you can deliver it as a finished product much quicker. Disadvantage is that its too similar a feel and you could question why spend the time on bringing to a newer engine. Like what do you REALLY get for bringing it into Skyrim?

I can basically confirm TES VI: Morro(insert other half name of continent)...

For some reason that's just the way things seem to go around here.

Skyblivion (and skywind) are not only simple ports to a new engine, they give the ability to visit different provinces in the same game and with the same char. That's why there is so much interest (otherwise, graphic mods for oblivion are sufficient).

And there could be a lot of improvements for skyblivion too (look at the jerral mountains in oblivion vs the jerral mountains in skyrim...). I'm sure it will be completed anyway, but it may take some time...

Happychappy, by your logic Morroblivion never should've been made in the first place. After all, Morrowind and Oblivion were only a generation apart.

If you guys are going to be so focused on resurrecting Morrowind all the time, why even bother putting up Skyblivion? Like I said, Oblivion has had no remakes. Morrowind has had plenty. Aren't we doing these projects not just for ourselves, but for everyone else as well? What about all those people who love Oblivion more than Morrowind like me? Should I start a petition and get everyone who wants Skyblivion more to sign?

Hell, why don't you guys just scrap Skyblivion altogether and/or let someone else take it up who actually wants it done? Maybe another site altogether? Might as well, if all this site will do is resurrect Morrowind for every new TES game.

We are focused on skywind because we like morrowind, if you like oblivion then WORK ON IT. Dont complain to us that we arent working on it yet, especially if you arent going to work on it either. We will get to it, most of us like morrowind more, we arent telling anyone that they cant work on skyblivion.

I really don't have the time right now. I'll get around to it when my sanity comes back. I'm not saying you guys HAVE to work on Skyblivion, I'm just trying to make a point.

sorry if i sounded like a jerk, but its just that most of us are trying to get one done before starting up another project. its best to do this 1 project at a time.

Actually, I'm pretty sure we are doing these projects for ourselves? I don't know about everyone else, but I'm not so altruistic as to spend what little free time I have working on a massive project that I can't even take any credit for or add to my portfolio.

If you want to see Skyblivion done, work on it yourself. This is a community that rewards self-starters. I hear that you still don't know much about modding, but you're going to have to do some research to get started on your own. We're always happy to point you in the direction of some easier tasks that you can begin learning with.

As for myself, I fully plan to contribute to Skyblivion -- once Skywind is in a playable state (not complete, because if Morroblivion is any indication, it will never truly be complete). I simply choose to focus on Skywind because it's what everyone else is focusing on, and I'm a big fan of pooling resources.

I like Morrowind and Oblivion and Skyrim. I'm working on Skywind when I'm basically done on the tasks I'm involved in, I'll move to Skyblivion and continue to update Skywind as needed.

Obviously one may want to see Oblivion remade rather than Morrowind but today the fastest way to see Skyblivion make progress is to either contribute to Skyblivion or to help complete Skywind.

PS: We moved far away from the initial topic of this thread.

I like how you would take the time to organize a petition but not to give 3D max a whirl or 1 of the zillion things, easy things you could do to help lol silly rabbit

Zerosbr I understand where your coming from and that your just trying to makes point, but the point doesn't make any sense, why did we even make the skyblivion master? So people can work on it ! Why not just cancel skyblivion and move it to a different site? Makes no sense at all kill the project and make people start from scratch on a new site that hasn't been heard of then it really would never be finished, 90 percent sure everyone here is doing for themselves we are volunteers we work on what we have an interstate in or what we want to see, it's not like were making people work on skywind first, the whole reason the other master was made island so people can work on skyblivion aswell, no offence intended here really but instead of making useless points that just get everyone riled up if you really can't contribute at the time do what people like lasentry are doing and spread the word find people who are interested in skyblivion and who can contribute and bring them in! Anyways rant #2 over sorry if I did offend it was not my intent and digital is right lol way off topic

stijmunkey, that's exactly what I'm doing. I AM spreading the word, on the Nexus, on Steam, through people I really know, etc.

I'm doing my best under the circumstances, so I'd appreciate it if you guys could stop claiming that I'm not doing anything.

zilav

Thanks, will be included in 0.2 release... if it ever happens :)

Zilav: yay! Thanks. :D

Hey, I love seeing Skywind come along, but my own modding desires prevent me from helping out. Here, my modding desires came in parallel with something that could be used for Skyblivion. So I was thrilled to be able to share it. I think that Oblivion was my all time favorite game, so it makes me sad to not see a lot of work on Skyblivion, but if I'm not doing it, I have no power to ask others to work on it. I'm thrilled to see what Zilav and Co. have done so far, and I'm glad that there are no closed doors stopping willing modders from being able to contribute.

Also, just for the record:
So long as I'm credited (and it never shows up on steam or some similar site where artists lose their rights), Morroblivion can use any of my Nexus mods to further Skyblivion/Skywind/ other port projects. :)

Perfect! Sorry for any misunderstandings, in that case keep it up, and try some Facebook groups I just found some potential voice actors that way worked better than I had thought
Karma: 0 (0 votes)

I wish I knew exactly how a medium-sized game-creating team operated... I think it was like 50 people working on Skyrim (Voice actors not included of course). I want to know exactly what is done first and what is done last... Since this is an open project, that feeling of "perfection" is hard to get because there are different flavors of people's work throughout the game, making it inconsistent, in terms of graphics, etc.

omg instead of having this discussion you guys could have made much progress with skyblivion already :P

its all about initiative, action, and hard labour, and best of all, cooperation, now get your asses over to the ck and work :P
