I'm not saying get rid of it,

I'm not saying get rid of it, it's gorgeous. I'm saying we need to make sure to only put it on people associated with the Nerevarine cult. Preferably as far away from Temple members as possible.

@Twisted Thats a good point,

@Twisted

Thats a good point, I don't know morrowind lore well enough to make the call I just put it on there to replace the belt star it had and it looked cool lol It can be swapped in or out no problem or added to anything else. When we go to put these in game we can make little adjustments to make sure outfits match up to the character better.

@LASentry

Thanks! I tweeked around on two of the hats just trying to make them look less "pirate" and more dunmerish, retextures will go along way but you can see where I'm going:

Outfits with hats WIP concepts:

Like I said, Khar'lor:

Like I said, Khar'lor: There's no need to get rid of the belt buckle, it's awesome. We just have to make a conscious effort when building outfits to put that robe on people like Dissident Priests and maybe some Wise Women (Nibani Maesa comes to mind).

I like details, but don't

I like details, but don't like the changed style going from earth/mud to rock/stone. Looks very skyrimish. Can be great as a new tileset, but not that much as a replacer.

But perhaps that's what people expect from Skywind - improved visuals, and rock/stone tileset provides much better details than generic earth.

There are mold caves, lava

There are mold caves, lava caves, mud caves and a couple others to a lesser extent.

Those who have done some level design for caves already have been spending a lot of effort making them look like they are made from rock...well because it just looks better and more realistic. Plenty of scope to leave some of the caves the smooth surfaces, if you want variety and nostalgia. But imo you don't want to be looking at that for the entire game, it shows its age and lack of detail. It reads like "placed rock here, inserted rock there, transition join there...". You can easily see where the level design is done. Well I don't know maybe you do? I tell you what I'll make this a beautification mod and see if people find it a little more immersive than the original tileset. "Bags not" redoing the original to make it legal, I'll leave that one up to somebody else. Doing one set is enough for me!

That was only my personal

That was only my personal opinion of an old fag :)

It doesn't mean that tileset is bad, not lore friendly or must be optional. It is good, very good, way better than the original and considering legality issues must replace the vanilla one.

i think when Morrowind was

i think when Morrowind was created they intended that most caves were lava tunnels like this one, since vvardenfell its a Volcanic island and in that time they couldn´t make something really detailed so it looked like a mud tunnel

  this is a real lava Tunnel and it is quite similar to the caves found in Morrowind. This is a cave found in russia and its similar to those found in skyrim

Although Happychappy has done a great job i think the caves should be made with the icy caves resources from skyrim, retextured to be similar to a lava tunnel, or  new meshes for the caves, but i have no problem if all caves are made with the normal cave resource

this is only my opinion,  i am writing this because the two caves style are different and it gives more immersion to the game.  If someone has some time to kill they could do it for caves in molag amur and ashlands regions, otherwise keep building in that style.

Its hard to see in

Its hard to see in screenshots but in game its more noticeable with texture changes. Because the Skyrim engine is so good at using bump mapping, the texture used makes a lot of difference between the general effect of smooth to rocky surfaces. The Skyrim cave textures are super effective at convincing the gamer that they are looking at uneven surfaces.

Maybe we can use the ice models for the lava caves of Vardenfell to maintain that original look. For the mean time, I'm not going to replace the lava caves models, so that gamers can get that contrast between cave systems. That should give a real feeling between what type geology they are walking through, rather than just texture swapping. The disadvantage of course being that objects (rocks) do stand out as placed rather than seamless compared to updated cave systems. But you cant win them all.

The screenshots I have here are for the damp Bitter Coast caves. There will also be variants without the hanging moss and ferns.

One problem with current cave systems is that they look like somebody sweeps them on a daily bases. They are certainly home to many an individual, so maybe they do get out the old brush and shovel.

"Mud" caves can be serviced

"Mud" caves can be serviced with more earthy looking textures

Finally for any haters, in my box of tricks is mixing old and new for getting a look in between smooth and rocky :) I call it smocky.

Man do our gamers get spoiled! I'm a bit obsessed with making as much variety as possible, so between 3 tilesets (5 if you count inclusion of moss and ferns) and as many texture varieties as we want, its possible to get almost every cave with its own slightly unique look, even before we do some level design.

Tilesets for existing caves

Tilesets for existing caves can be exchanged with TES5Edit script if they have the same size, orientation, etc.

HappyChappy: I really like

HappyChappy: I really like the pick before the 'smocky' pick. It has all of the updated graphics of Skyrim, while maintaining the morrowind 'look'. The brown retexture keeps it mudcave, which is how morrowind felt. The green/gray rocks throw me off. So I definitly vote for new rocks/details, but brown.
Well done sir!

PS. Now that I look at it, I really like Smocky too.... It looks gross, muddy... Smocky... :P

Also I have a super
Also I have a super important question of dire urgitude! (Really just a selfish request) is it in any way possible to get the awesome wip outfits by Khar'lor, yes I know they don't have proper textures yet, randomly or not so randomly placed on all the npcs for temporary personal/video purposes?

Saw your project in PCGamer

Saw your project in PCGamer and I have a few weeks before uni starts up again.  If I'm given concepts or screenshots to work from I can start on any interior tile-sets you might need?  Am I right in thinking that Skyrim only uses Normal and Diffuse maps?

WANTED: 3D Modeller to do

WANTED: 3D Modeller to do many of the Planks, Railings, Ropes of Skywind.

Task would be considered "boring" by some, but if you are looking to actually help us towards releasing the game then you will sign up or volunteer to start on these. There are hundreds of these small seemly unimportant objects, however these are the backbone of holding the project together.

Requirements: Lots of time to spend doing a very similar task, over and over again.
