Sound Designer/Music Producer here.

Submitted by Helion Tide on

Hi, name's Bryan.  Just discovered this mod recently, and I am absolutely floored.  Morrowind is easily my favourite game of all time, and to see it being entirely recreated in a new engine is brilliant.  I suppose I would just like to use this introduction to commend the efforts thus far from everyone involved -- an undertaking such as this is quite ambitious, to say the least, and you should all be extremely proud of yourselves!  I can't wait to give it a whirl!

With that said, I would also like to offer my experience as a producer to see if there are any gaps within development that I could fill, audio-wise.  I've been producing music (electronic, orchestral scores, etc.) for about 6 years now, and I've also acted as lead audio director/sound designer for an independent film company here in Canada for the last 2 years now.  If you'd like to check out some of the work we've done, to get a feel for the quality you'd expect from having me on board should you wish, feel free to visit our website at www.lexionfilms.com, or visit my soundcloud at www.soundcloud.com/heliontide.  I post most all my electronic music there, but if you'd like to hear more of my recent work, be sure to shoot me a PM and I'll share some unreleased work with you that is more current, and more appropriate for this line of work.

I have a great deal of experience in a post production atmosphere, so anything related to cleaning up audio or mixing, I am more than capable of tackling.  (For instance, cleaning up voiceover work, creating ambiences, sound effects, mixing/mastering, etc.)  If there is any opportunity what so ever for me to help in any way, it would be an absolute honour.  My dream career is to work in the video game industry as a sound designer, so what better of an opportunity is this to garner some portfolio work and test the waters?!

All the best, and keep up the fantastic work!

Cheers,

Bryan

Hi there, so I have another guy interested in the same thing you are I'm going to send him this way so you guys can maybe work together, I have a little chunk of dialogue that needs to be cleaned up and separated if you guys want, but other than that most of the actors have thier stuff ready to go when they send it to me so not too much work for you guys on that front, however morrowinds sound quality wasn't the best so I'm sure we could use all sorts of sound effects, creature noises, environment sounds ect. Also I'm sure people would appreciate some high quality covers of the original music, or even your own morrowind style fantasy music, I believe I speak for all the YouTube video makers here (myself included) when I say it would be nice to have some royalty free morrowind style music to use in our videos, hint hint :p

i got the other one to do creature sound effects, and i would want Helion to make new ambient sound effects for us, if he would like to do that :)

did you give him a list of all the creatures or even just link him to uesp so he knows what hes making sounds for? i would also suggest the same here, if you are up for ambient sound effects look at areas and environments to get an idea of what sounds to create, also you could recreate the ambient sounds we already have from morrowind to something a little better on the quality side, eloth always 2 steps ahead of me  :p

i told him to listen to the creature sounds in his morrowind sound folder and recreate them to be on par with skyrim atleast.

for ambient sounds, those you hear in tombs, daedric shrines and dwemer dungeons could be recreated first.

Hey guys!

In addition to working on sound effects, I would absolutely love to make music for Skywind.

Here is a possible main menu music for a sample of the kind of stuff I would make.

Let me know what you think!

I mentioned to happychappy that I would be happy to make stuff for promotional videos on youtube or whatever. He said he would have people PM me if they need moosik to fit their vid so you can tell them the same!

Here is a spreadsheet of Skywind sounds FX and users can update and allocate as needed.

Anything that has the path in the "fx\morro\" folder means that it is an original Morrowind sound. The others are what has been replaced by Skyrim sounds.

Here is a download of the sounds : https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B1vwmz6hbHGPcXRTNXc2R2dFaWc/edit?usp=sharing

Actually all voices must be processed by the same audio engineer to ensure the same quality and volume.

This.  Definitely this.  That way all the levels and effects can be batched out at the same time for consistency.

Also, sorry for the late reply.  I work nights, so I went to sleep after my post and headed straight into work.  I just received the sound list and the download in my PM's, so I'll get looking at some things shortly.  In context to what I'd be most comfortable doing, whatever is top priority, I'm game for.  If you need ambient sounds, I will see about getting some gear together and taking a trip to go out recording.  Going to need some pretty hefty foley :)

I would also love to recreate some music for Skywind, or some originals of my own.  I've been writing a lot lately, especially in the orchestral/hybrid genres, so that is certainly a must for me haha.

Here are some links to a few hybrid concepts I started recently (keep in mind these are melody & theme concepts with limited instrumentation, not complete tracks):

I also re-created the galaxy map theme from the Mass Effect series a while back.  I sent it to the original composers and they loved it.  Enjoy!
