Deviations from Morrowind

Submitted by Deavan on
Hey there, this is just going to be an ongoing compilation of irregularities that I spot in Morroblivion as I complete the Mainquest and then beyond. Nothing here is an attack on anyone's work and simply for information purposes and discussion. I will attempt to go back and fix as much as I can after said Mainquest. (Also its possible any bugs are simply confined to my version!! Feedback!!) Game Play |The red hand from stolen objects is not supposed to be in Morrowind and is potentially a game breaker (No one should magically know that pot you lifted in Balmora is hot property) |NPC's can move through cells (Doors etc) |Merchants gold does not decrease when you sell to them |Merchants are not stationary |Items such as full Orcish are being sold (Eg. Balmora. This makes such items no longer rare and worth the hours searching for them) |Vivecs sermons (The books) do not give skill rewards Files |I installed just using the "Installation" files and experienced crashes and missing meshes. Then I used the "Support" files and all errors experienced were eliminated Creatures |Steam Centurion - had no sound |Centurion Spider - had no placeholder (Invisible) Quests |Main Quest - Marker for the Dewmer Puzzle Box points to NPC Boss Crito - Dreams from Dagoth Ur coming far too early in the storyline??? |Death of a taxman - You cannot exact justice on the culprit as he does not attack you after you condemn him. If you initiate the conflict the guards rush to his aid. Seyda Neen |Nuccius's cursed ring - Is very overpriced and its effect is now constant instead of a one off cast then recharge (So it will kill you if you wear it) *** Would love some feedback!!!!

Many of the things you are listing here are Oblivon. The game is Oblivion, not Morrowind. * Ownership/Theft is simply different in Oblivion than in Morrowind * NPC's all have wander packages so they are not stationary. This is intentional, not a bug. * NPC merchants that move are also intentional. * Merchants are differnt in Oblivon than in Morrowind. * The Orcish Armor being sold is technically not a "bug" but might as well be. NPC Merchants in Oblivon try to sell you everything in the same cell specifically marked as being owned by them, and there is a LOT of this in Morrowind. This should, hopefully, all be taken care of by John117 who is working on Cell Ownership and unmarking items as specifically being owned by NPC's. However, this is a Very big project he has undertaken, and it may take him a while. I already have NPC Merchants listed as one of the things I would like help with. Oblivion handles merchants with Merchant Containers, but there are none in Morrowind, instead it is handled with Negative inventory. This is pretty clunky and should be updated. I thought I had already changed the marker from Boss to the Puzzle Box. I have done so now. As far as I know the dreams come exactly when they are supposed to according to the Wiki. Which do you think that you got too soon? And how far along are you? The Centurion Spider is not invisible for me. Where were you when you didn't see it? I am looking right at the one in Arkngthand. This is a creature from the original converter, so it would not be in my support files, but generated by the converter or included in my Complete installation. The Death of a Taxman Quest has not been addressed as far as I know. -MOST- of the Morrowind Quests have not been addressed and do not work properly if at all. I am working on House Redoran now, and Raditz is working on Morag Tong. It is not possible to apply charged or spell-like functions to worn magic items in Oblivon. This has been one of the more problamatic areas in trying to merge the two games. Oblivion simply deals with worn items differently. The best that could be hoped for at this point would be items you unequipped and then re-equipped to execute a script, but that would be pretty clunky at best. Skill Books is something I will put on my Help Requested Page.

I recently released a mod that may (or may not) be better for Morrowind lovers: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35723 This mod will remove the stolen flag from items you steal, so long as you aren't seen doing it. This way you can sell stolen items to any merchant, like Morrowind. If you want the merchant's barter gold to decrease/increase after transactions try Enhanced Economy.

Excellent, thats just what we could use to set it right! Yes I realize they are feature of Oblivion, however would it not be possible to alter these occurrences to behave as they would in Morrowind? Example being the mod that was just linked that deals with the 'Red Hand' on stolen items. Will do a couple more hours of game play tonight and see what else I can find. --- Sorry don't have time right now to reply to everything. Heading out.

Enchanted items in Morrowind gradually regenerate their magicka... There are mods out there that place a script on enchanted weapons which makes them regenerate however ONLY if you are holding them or equipped in your inventory... As for low enchanted items, the best solution I can think of is to go through each enchanted item and increase their 'enchantment' from say 85 to 300 maybe... Scripted enchantments (weapons with a script where when equipped, you gain 'abilities) is as close to 'cast effects on self' enchantments on weapons I can think of... ALSO!! There is a mod where it adds a 'lich' animation to your player where your character floats like the lich in Oblivion, if this can be used on an NPC this can be used on Vivec because he constantly floats or levitates on the spot..... Can a script be added to the lava to "kill you" instantly or damage your health? If so this could be used... In Morrowind, merchants DO sell things that are in their shop as in a sword in the shop vanishes because you bought it...
