Idea: A Lore Friendly Way to Tie Skywind and/or Skyblivion to Skyrim

Submitted by Daiyus on

Hey guys. This is my first post here, but I've been following the project for a few months now. Overall I'm impressed with the work going on here (and I hate the fact I cannot assist at this moment in time). However, with my mind working the way it does, and liking things to be "just so" I felt the need to express an idea I've had:

The problem I have had rattling around my brain, is how to emphasise the fact that these two mods are in different time-periods, and thus flitting from one to another isn't a small matter. Also, how to utilise both games introductions to have them make sense. Bqasically, I've been thinking of how to link them all together ingame.

The core of my idea is "The Chamber of Akatosh". It's a room that can be accessed from all three locations via three doors. It should be hard to find, possibly well protected, and pretty much not easy to get to too early in the game. You would create your character here under the pretense of having a dream, but not remembering where you fell asleep, when the statue of Akatosh is activated it asks the question of where you thought it was: on a boat (Morrowind), in a cold, hard place (Oblivion), or in a cart (Skyrim). You then start the corresponding game with it's normal intro.

Once you've managed to find the chamber again you may choose to travel somewhere else, but to prove your worth you must "pass the test" in order to unlock the door (Akatosh basically places you somewhere in time to fulfill a destiny). You are stripped of all your gear (placed in a chest in the Chamber) and then sent to your destination via the selected games normal intro.

Once again, if you find the chamber you can take the third test to go the final time/location, or are freely able to pass through the Chamber using the doors to your original choice. Doing all three starts, and finding the Chamber each time basically allows you to move through all three freely.

That's a quick idea that I thought I'd share. I'll probably expand on it later, but I've run out of time for now. Thank you for reading, opinions and critisisms completely welcome.

More threads meaning nothing cluttering the feed...

@no1. I appreciate the feedback. Truth be told I haven't really looked into the forums much bar the main release threads. That's my foul, and I accept it. You also cement an assumption I'd already made, that I'd need to make it myself one day. That's been my plan all along, but I just needed to write it down somewhere, and thought "hey, why not Morroblivion? Someone might like it". I'm working on Skyrim overhaul at the moment. My plan was to.complete that, then move into Skywind/blivion development or mods.

I like this idea, and it would probably be my choice of tying them together. If you were to make it, I would certainly download it. :)

It would have been good if you had stated that you actually have experience modding Skyrim and plan to do something because otherwise it just looks like a noob suggesting ideas, which we all agree is very annoying.

Or perhaps rather than placing you in the chamber at the start of a new game, the normal menu to choose to start in Skyrim or Morrowind/Cyrodiil could appear to avoid altering the intros too much (Each have the character creation menu show up at different points in the intro, and in the case of Morrowind and Skyrim's, it happens in response to an npc's question), but then there could be temples to Akatosh somewhere in each of the provinces that would have his hourglass symbol/statue, and when activated, could send you through time to the other games. This would require that you gain Akatosh's favor through the test that you mentioned.

Mother of god, another "transition" thread... yes

What LASentry said - Skywind needs contributors, people who do real things. Ideas are nice for chatting, but don't help at all and only distract. If you want to join, go learn CK and start to work. When Skywind will be almost complete, only then it will be the time for such threads.

@LASentry, I do apologise for the confusion. I was writing this at work and my break was about to end. I had to tie it up fast. @zilav, I appreciate the need for action. Like you say, the time is not yet upon us where this idea could be realistically made and implemented. I just needed it out of my head. When the time comes I'll likely be finished my current Skyrim project, and hopefully be working on Skywind or Skyblivion, and will be able to spearhead it myself. I doubt I'll move onto TESVI (new family, etc, etc) so my current goal is to pack as much content onto Skyrim as I can, and perfect it. When I actually get to play it properly I'm hoping my character(s) will take months/years to develop and reach that "start again" point. y
