Recruiting modders

Submitted by Rebelzize on

LETS ADD SOME MORE MODDERS TO THE TEAM SHALL WE?!?
General:

As we all know Skywind has been getting way more attention (pretty much from day 1) but that doesnt mean that we cant start on Skyblivion in the meantime right?!? exactly! Now Ive read that Ormin is away or to busy to work on Skyblivion so we wont touch anything that he was working on until he comes back.

My idea was to ask around on the nexus and see if there are any freelance modders who would like to help us out. creating the npc's armors etc.
Ive already had contact with a few small modders about this and they were all pretty exited about it

New Modders:

Alright here are the facts: most modders are working on Skywind and at this rate Skyblivion wont come that far.
Having that said there is still hope! All we really need is modders and people to work on oblivion, we cant just ask people who work on Skywind to drop whatever they are working on and start helping us so we need new blood. My suggestion is that we check out sites such as
Skyrim nexus: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com//?
Steam workshop: http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/browse/?appid=72850
And look for oblivion related mods and just ask the mod authors if they are interested in joining the project. We could use people who make oblivion armor, weapons, flora, spells,NPC's,misc items, water you name it...
Just sent these people a message saying that you are with morroblivion and that we are looking for modders to help us out (with a link to this forum preferably) This should kick-start this project and get things going again:)

Taking the lead:

We also need someone to lead this project until Ormin comes back. I volunteer!(just kidding I dont know shit about modding) preferably someone who is experienced with modding etc who can help others out.

Frequently asked questions:
Is Skyblivion dead?

Anwser: NO! most of the team is focusin on Skywind so we can either w8 for Skywind to be done or start making some progress ourselves, either way Skyblivion is gonna happen!

Skyblivion is actually easier when its comes to textures and voice acting, the game has hq versions of both so no need for us to do aditionel voice acting and retuxtre :)

tell me what you guys think and add any idea's of you own

Wallpaper I made, feel free to download!

I feel that Skyblivion is going to pick up again because of the recent quest development in Skywind.

One thing at a time, Skywind should be finished first. Modding is complicated and time consuming. The more time spent of Skyblivion, the less time is spent finishing Skywind. There's my opinion anyway.

but, if there's enough modders, you could do both, many hands make light work.

I think he means recruit modders like me. I haven't really done much for skywind but I'm working on skyblivion right now (I literally have the creation kit open as I'm typing this).

At this point skywind is gonna get done first no matter what. The point is no one is gonna say skywind is done enough let's start moving on to skyblivion. When you look at it, most of the skywind team is new and wasn't working on morroblivion. Most of the morroblivion team is still working on morroblivion (polishing it up and what not). So it's crazy to believe that one day the Skywind team will suddenly begin working on skyblivion all at once. It is because of this skyblivion is extremely unlikely to ever be done. Simply put: when do we have a cut off point where the team works on skyblivion. Remember parts of morroblivion were not done when we began work on skywind (morrblivion's dlc quests were not done yet). Once TES6 comes out we can sign off on skyblivion's death certificate.

Right now ormin, zilav and myself are the only people(that I know of ) working on skyblivion. Rebelzize is trying to say we should make another team so skyblivion CAN get done, because at this rate it won't. why not ask some modder interested in skyblivion to come help on it, instead of skywind. You can't force people to do what they don't want to. I'd rather work on skyblivion then skywind, so I do. If you ask modders interested in skyblivion to work on skywind they won't do it, even if you do tell them in the long run it'll help skyblivion.

I'll ask you since your a contributor "what has to be finished in skywind in order for you to work on skyblivion?" Simply saying "everything" means never because even morroblivion still updates.  and most of the people who are working on it didn't switch over to skywind.

Naw, you're right. I look forward to playing Skyblivion, but my energy is in Skywind. I really liked the world, but the engine was pretty old by the time I got in to gaming, so this is fun for me. I never finished the original.

I really like Oblivion too, so it's cool. I thought this was the Skywind forum originally. Please carry on. :)

Im keeping my fingers crossed :)

I understand that but Im not planning on asking anyone who is already working on Skywind :) My plan was to get some new blood to work on the project and specifically people who are interested in Oblivion mods for skyrim, it might even get some more modders interested in Skywind and developing it.

Im talking about any modder with any experience ANYWHERE x D
The main goal is to get a few new modders with decent experience on the team to help and speed things up, having that said I would like everyone to chip in and browse modding sites (skyrim nexus, steam workshop)to look for small modders who are working on Oblivion related mods and ask them if they are interested in helping us out and joining the cause. Im 90% sure that any Oblivion fan who makes mod would be more then happy to lend a hand with Skyblivion.

Thats exactly what Im saying. A new team with fresh modders could also help us come up with some new idea's so if and when we've found a new group I would also like to start a topic and sahre and discuss ideas etc.

And yeah 1st of all Skywind wont be done(ish) till arround mid 2014 and even them most modders will keep on working on updates etc.  and 2nd most people wont directly switch and start working on Skyblivion and thats exactly why I wanted to start assembling a (new) team.

I'm certainly interested in helping Skyblivion. As I see it, Skywind is well on the way, with a very good, dedicated team. It will get "finished" with my help or not. Skyblivion is need of a little more love, and as much I loved Morrowind, I'm equally as excited to get Oblivion ported to Skyrim.

That said, I'm a complete novice. I am slowly working on a Skyrim Overhaul mod where I ask Nexus users for permissions to use their mods, and then pick them apart, learn how they did it, and merge into one file how I'd like to see it done for a seamless finish. All I've done so far is merge a few basic scripts, and some Crossbows.

My other issue is time. I'm recently married with a one year old child, so understandably my time is short. As such anything I start will likely be done by somebody else before I finish.

All this said, I do want to help, so if someone can point me in a direction where I can actually help, I'm open to anything.

[EDIT] I could use my contacts on the Nexus to merge weapon packs or something?

@Daiyus
Okey there are a few basic things that can be done. first of all you could do facegen (checkout my other topic)

Something else that you can do is find more modders to help us out. Its seems like you have some conact with the nexus community and at this point every extra hand to help us out counts. we need people for modeling land design meshing and texturing.

If you could do any of this it would be much appreciated :)

Awesome! I know we're free to do what we like, but where would be a good place to start with the Face Gen? I could maybe start with one of the less popular, small settlements, such as Ales well? As for the Nexus, I'll put the word out. As I'm asking for asset permissions for my own mod anyway, it's not much of a step to ask for Oblivion styled assets for here as well. I may end up with some stuff that's already been done, but in the process I might also get stuff we haven't. It's always good to have choices.

1. Make facegen in alphabetical order, for example starting from TES4A* to TES4C*, this process requires some form of coordination to not get overlapped with others.

2. You can't use Oblivion assets. Skyblivion can't use them either hence it is illegal and banned from everywhere except this site.

Skyblivion can't use Oblivion assets? Isn't it using textures straight from the .bsa and converted meshes lol?

Yes and it is illegal to distribute them, that's why we are not on Nexus or any other TES site.

Hi Oskutin

I see you've got a nice team of developers on your www.infragame.net website.

If you look at what needs to be done with Skyblivion, certainly setting up creatures is a huge portion.

I see you have a couple of animators on your team, and so getting them to help with this aspect of the project will certainly be a boon for the project.

HOLY TITS!!!

Ive been following Luftahraan for a long ass time....I.. I dont know what to say.

what you and your team are doing is amaaaazing!

Well, many of the animators and modellers are on/off modders on INFRA, who kinda rarely do work, because of school, job, life, etc. So i don't think i can help with that.

My own CK skills are more in the field of level design and cluttering/ improvising.

Here's my steam so we can talk more:
