InsanitySorrow will not grant permissions

Submitted by Daiyus on

Dear all,

I've recently messaged InsanitySorrow about using his assets from his many amazing mods, not only for Skyblivion, but for a personal Overhaul as well.

He has denied permissions on both counts. I consider this an official answer (as he indicated that other people have approached him and received the same response), and thought I'd best share this information so no-one else bothers him.

Shame, but there you go.

You should have asked first, it is well known fact that he didn't gave permission.

This is also the same for any mod makers from such sites TES Alliance as Dark Creations. They don't support Morroblivion projects for obvious reasons.

By the way, why you are even searching for replacers? Skyblivion (I hope) will use ported models for everything in base installation. Any other replacers are optional and can be done via plugins as ordinary mods. Don't forget you can mod Skyblivion like a separate game.

In which case, might I politely suggest a sticky post somewhere with a list of who has been asked, and has denied permissions. I'm obviously new, so I'm not entirely aware of what has or has not been done in terms of these kinds of requests.

OK, my foul for not checking, but I was eager to do something towards the project. As my skills are limited I offered to ask around the Nexus to see what I could get, either in manpower or assets, which Rebelzize seemed to think was a good idea.

I understand how (as a mod) Skyblivion works, I was merely trying to find assets to save time (much how Skywind has used Morrowind Armour for Skyrim assets). Much of InsanitySorrow's latest works are standalone weapon packs (primarily based on Morrowind and Oblivion). There's loads of Oblivion based stuff around, I simply thought "why redo it or port it when it's already been made as a usable thing?"

Credit junkies,

If you ask me, just use what ever mod you find, they release it so its there to be used. We can't include there work but it can always be used.

insanitysorrow is part of the druid studio team doing the "unwritten" game, and I've got the feeling he wants to protect the resources in case they are used for that game. I pretty sure from the demo I saw some fishing baskets that look very familiar :-P

That's actually a very good point. While I'm excited about the prospect of that game, I always forget he's involved. It would also explain why he denied me rights to his mods that had "free to use" still written on them.

What Obvious reasons are those what's so special about them sites, I've not been following this to closely.

Blatant Plug

I've been to busy with Moving Official Mod Organizer Support to STEP Forums for Last few months where we are providing Support for Skyrim, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Morrowind is not Officially Supported which means we help but no program changes done for it.

Tes alliance and Dark Creations simply </3 us. To them we're evil heretics that stole from Bethesda, and we should be closed down, and possibly arrested. If you simply say the word "Skywind" on TES Alliance, they get quite mad at you.

Oh, and S.T.E.P. type mods are the only thing I actually liked from the Nexus. Half the shit on the Nexus is just nude mods.
