free falling issue.

Submitted by roxaraz on

Hi. its my first time posting here and im interested in trying skywind. i've been a fan of the elder scrolls series since morrowind. i've recently tried installing skywind 0.9 yesterday and everything went on fine until i started a new game. right after the intro as im about to start in the ship i've experienced the freefalling issue. im not sure if i have installed skywind wrong or i it something else. i have installed skywind into the skyrim data folder and i ticked on skywind.esm and skywind.esp. is there anything else that im missing out? the picture below is what i see everytime i start the game. please help. thank you :)

any help please?

Go to your Skyrim/data/mesh folder and search for *prisonship.nif(yes with the star), when you find it, right click it, and tell me the location of it.

urm. theres no *prisonship.nif in that folder.

Did you install it by extracting the files or with the installer ?

i've tried both ways actually. but still the same. does anyone have the 0.8 version of this? maybe there are files missing from the current version?

Files missing? Yeah, no. I don't know how all of these problems keep eimmerging in other people's installations. I've never once had a problem. Your best bet would be to reinstall Skyrim (again), make sure you have the latest patch and SKSE. Download the Skywind assets again. Then copy/paste Skyrim.exe to a folder on the desktop and run the installer - verify that the installer is pointed to that folder and run it. If it doesn't have all of the assets copy them over from the archive to your installation. Also, make sure you copy your Skyrim documents folder to the desktop as well so that Skyrim generates new files when you first open the launcher.

prisonship.nif is supposed to be in Data\meshes\Morrowind\architecture\ships\interior
If it's not in there, you effed up somewhere, and you'll have to reinstall Skywind. Freefalling means you're missing the mesh completely, everything purple means you're missing the texture.

okay i found it. its placed in C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim\Data\meshes\morrowind\architecture\ships\interior

alright. ill try doing that again. :) sorry to trouble you guys and im also sorry if i have offended you in anyway :)

What is the file location of your SkyrimLauncher.exe?

sorry ive jusy reinstalled skyrim. so its in the steam folder again. jut give me a minute let me give the proper locations for both

alright, these are the file locations.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim\Data\meshes\morrowind\architecture\ships\interior

Mmmk, you installed it in the wrong location.

Step 1. Go to C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim\
Step 2. Copy the data folder
Step 3. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim
Step 4. Paste your data folder there, you see any merge folder pop ups, say yes.

EDIT:
Just noticed your response, if it's like that, then you should be good.

well, im still facing the same problem. hmmm

Is this problem solved? Cuz i have the same problem except that mine is installed in C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim

1) Copy the assets so that the textures/meshes folders are in the Skyrim Data folder. Then run the installer and go back to the Data folder to make sure the Skywind-patch file is there along with the Skywind bsa. Make sure they are all checked in the Data Files in the Skyrim launcher and make sure Skyrim-patch is loaded after Skywind. Make sure you're running the latest version of Skyrim and SKSE - this is recommended because that's what we all use.

Hey I think I might have came up with a reason to this problem. When installing v0.9, the installer does not have a directory pathway for morrowind, thus I think that the features of the mod cannot be loaded. I am only assuming here so can you guys have a look in to it?

The installer doesn't use assets from Morrowind.

I've tried everything and I still have problems.Tried reinstalling morrowind in steam directory.I also tried reinstalling Skyrim and then running installer and again extracting files from Skywind-assets-0.9.0.1 to the skyrim/Data folder. Can someone post what version of Skyrim + Morrowind they are using ? My Skyrim is at version 1.9.32.08.

@LASentry: i've watched installation guide videos and v0.7 & v0.8 installers both have directory pathway for morrowind, whereas v0.9 doesn't?

Same here with kazoo, reinstalled skyrim twice, reinstalled/extract skywind assets at least 6 times, deleted mods, and tried finding answer online but just cannot find a solution :(. Soz if this sounds like whining but I really wanna play this.

I've been trying to find solution for myself since 0.9 got released I even tried looking in construction  set to see what went wrong before writing post but it seams that I will have to either find myself new version of Skyrim or stick with 0.8 release which I'm downloading right now.If that fails there is something fishy in land of Skywind.

if you really can't figure it out it's probably best to wait until the next release.

Hi,

I'm new here but here is what maybe the problem :/

My archive file is broken, and yea I know it's in strange language :P

Yes I noticed that the first time I tried installing Skywind but I re downloaded the assets again and issue remains. But I will try downloading files with different download manager and see what happens :D Oh and BTW 0.8 worked like a charm but it continuously crashed for me and was buggy, but hey it's still Morrowind :D

I tried different mirror now and seems there something wrong with installer.Sometimes it manages to finish and sometimes it gives me some errors in Russian. Is there possibility that someone send me content generated by installer.Correct me if I am wrong but installer puts skywind.esp and rest of the files needed to run Skywind in Data folder. It wouldn't hurt if someone can send me data/meshes/morrowind/architecture/ships/prisonship.nif also but I don't know if that would  be possible since it's illegal to distribute content from morrowind.I also tried different installers and they also don't work.

I hope this helps someon.I'l just have to wait for new version to come out. :(

I have managed to make it work :D It seems something goes wrong with installer and doesn't copy all files correctly.Seems to be an issues with 7-zip at least in my case. And it doesnt work very well with WinRar veardly. After reading some forums 7-zip sometimes doesn't respect where temp folder is so I changed it in program it self to D:\TEMP and changed environmental values in windows to D:\TEMP and D:\TMP I also changed Internet Temp Folder in Internet Options then I proceeded to extract ONLY meshes folder to skyrim/data.After that I erased all ini files in Documents/My Games/Skyrim.

After that you have to add bEnableFileSelection=1 to SkyrimPrefs.ini :

[Launcher]
bShowAllResolutions=1
uLastAspectRatio=4

bEnableFileSelection=1

It still didn't work but putting this line in menu spawned me successfully in game without issues now: "cow wrldmorrowind -5 -5" .So I installed new version of SKSE and changed load order to :

1.Downguard
2.HearthFires
3.Dragonborn
4.Skywind
5.Skywind-patch

After that it worked like a charm :D It crashed after initial play through in character creation but as far as I can see it there is already a fix somewhere in this forum for that.I also added files generated by installer manually by downloading from this forum but I can't tell if that changes things.

Happy Christmas everyone ! :D

bEnableFileSelection=1 is a no brainer, that's the first tweak everyone should make after installing Skyrim.

The first tweak that anyone must do is to rename SkyrimLauncher.exe to SkyrimLauncher.bak for example to never ever run it again even accidentally (except when you changed GPU hardware). That tweak applies to the all Bethesda games.

Well yeah, I meant .ini tweak.
