Skywind 9.0.1 Installer issues

If you are getting the Error about not having Morrowind installed, please post it here.

We will need the version of Morrowind you are using, whether it is the Steam version. Also we will need you operating system, and whether it is 32 or 64 bit.

This will give us a direction to go with when troubleshooting.

Thank you.

I didn't see this topic

I didn't see this topic before posting in the release thread, sorry!

I'm using the Steam version of Morrowind (GOTY) and Win7 x64.  I received a similar error trying to run the 0.8 alternate installer.

I can't install Skywind to

I can't install Skywind to the root of a partition, where my Skyrim installation is. So I had to install it somewhere else and then drag the files into the right place... Annoying.

Does steam install the reg keys when it installs a game, or during 1st run? I know some programs do wait until 1st run to add the setting values to the registry.

The new link worked for me, haven't play tested but the installer did its job with no errors, other then telling me that it couldn't find the assets folder (installed manually beforehand so I'm guessing that's a error I should ignore).

EDIT:

Installer works perfectly, ty.

That seems to work, thank you

That seems to work, thank you very much.

EDIT: maybe not. it gives me an error in russian. 5 words, and then something about "C:\Steam\steamapps\commom\Skyrim\Data\meshes\morrowin d\architecture\common\doors\com_door01load.nif", 2 more words, and then "IS7zipExtract!"

I can't copy and paste it into google translate, either.

Still having issues being

Still having issues being unable to find Morrowind with the new installer (Steam GOTY Win7 Ultimate x64).

All of the relevant keys in my registry seem to point to the right place, unless I'm missing a key entirely. Where does the installer look to find it?

Also, wouldn't it make more sense to have the installer ask for manual input on failure rather than just giving up?

Hello there, I'm new here ,

Hello there, I'm new here , this may seem sudden but i have been trying to get the main installer to work at all if not at all with windows 7 64bit. The exe for Skywind will simply refuse to launch at all, as you can tell my motivation for joining this Unique community

It would be great if you guys could link me to the esm file for Skywind would be fantastic, i tried everything to get the installer to work, but failed miserably.

Running windows 7 pro oem 64bit, tried everything from administrative mode, alternative installer like some have requested and much, much more..

Format your storage drive,

Format your storage drive, wipe free space and increase the cluster size. Then install Windows and get the latest updates.

I highly doubt the installer

I highly doubt the installer bug is a windows issue, i will even post the log file if you wish

i found a even bigger error code then the last one, though the spam filter kicks in if its to long

i may need to screenshot it (:

Hmm that trace log seems suspicious, you know, with that criticism of yours had me thinking, i did some thorough investigation and it turned out windows Installer was messed up. Though that and something more sinister at play, I'm a IT person so to speak and my know how of windows through and through, this one was a really sneaky virus. I caught it though as it was wiping out install shield, I think i may have to thank you for your Criticism

I have a restore disk so I'm

I have a restore disk so I'm trying not to completely wipe the OS from C.

Minor rant

Dang it all, why does a virus have to get me in the way of Morrowind and Skyrim fun lol. I have the steam Goty edition, and Oblivion to. I was also thinking would it be possible to have both worlds in Skyrim, that would be awesome.

------------

Edit i repaired windows and i think i have everything working, the trace log was windows messing things up, so i re downloaded the Skywind installer, though for some reason the original exe was only 8mb in size. the final version was around 80mb. So something must of messed it up some how. Except now i may have to reinstall Skyrim again. oddly enough.

if you have issues installing

if you have issues installing i reccomend that you have morrowind  in the same steam folder as your skyrim game. and make sure that the assets file is in the same folder as your exe file to install it. what I did is I added the assets zip file to nexus mod manager and installed it. then I used the exe to extract the assets file to a empty folder. I noticed that if I manually extracted the zip file and the exe did it , both had different file sizes. so after, I then added the files from the exe to new zip folder and added that to nexus mod manager. then I installed using nexus mod manager and overwrote files from the manually extracted contents zip file. hope that helps if any.

side note when you use the exe and it prompts you about protecting you from a unknown app just click on the view more. I think it was view more or something like that. then the window should expand with the option to install anyways. (windows 8 )

FYI I have my steam folder in a different drive. My steam folder is not in SSD C drive but is in my HDD drive D drive also.

Also try moving your Steam folder outside of the default directory. I dont know if it will change anything but I remember Fallout New Vegas Script extender had issues at one point with game in the default directory. I never had my steam folder in the defualt directory again and still dont have problems. This was when I was on a windows 7 laptop also

Long time Lurker first time

Long time Lurker first time poster, looking to get into Skywind and see how i can contribute now that i have a capable machine.Problems i am having is that i get the morrowind is not installed error.

I am running windows 8 pro 64bit

Morrowind GoTY v2.0 (both Morrowind and Skyrim are on steam)

games are stored on a 2nd drive labled E:\ windows and main drive are C:\ (2 x SSD RAID 0.)

Could the issue be related to the face that the games are on a separate drive? i figured it would just check the registry or allow you to point to your installs? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Wow, nice storage setup! What

Wow, nice storage setup! What is Morrowind GotY 2.0? Doesn't Morrowind only go up to version 1.6? I've only tried installing to the root of a hard drive, which doesn't work. Simply copy Morrowind.exe to the desktop and the installer will recognize your installation as there and then copy the files that were installed into your Skyrim installation.

I had downloaded the assets archive and manually installed it into the data folder but the loader didn't seem to recognize it, though I must have run the loader without being in the same file. Either way its working now, thanks!

I'm also getting the problem. I'm on Win7 64bit, I have Morrowind GOTY downloaded through steam. Vs 1.6.1820 and using skywind installer 0901. Any help would be appreciated. :)

Update: It's not really a 'fix' but as it happens I also have a physical copy of morrowind goty so I installed it and it worked.

Yea I cannot get this to

Yea I cannot get this to work. I have morrowind installed yet it continues to tell me I do not have morrowind installed. Im extremely bad with computers so I would really appreciate it if I could get help in the form of a 2nd grade level explanation on how to fix it. Also I have a few desktop sharing programs and I would more than happily connect with one of the devs so they can go onto my computer and figure out the issue so that more people can play the mod. I have windows 7 32 bit (I know) and my morrowind is the steam version. Add me on steam i_irish10 or add me on skype elliott.kline. Thanks and happy holidays.
