Alright, I've been playing Morroblivion for some time now, I've been running around aimlessly and having a blast for a few hours. Now the game is completely unstable - I'm getting a crapload of crashes randomly, no matter where I'm at.
Most recently I left Seyda Neen and headed towards Pelagiad where I killed a guar. I got a bit closer to Pelagiad and the game crashed. I though, "Okay, sure, I expected a crash about an hour ago. I'll just go back to Seyda Neen, wait 3 days and hope I can then get back to my loot den in Pelagiad." Nope. I can't even get back to Seyda Neen, I get close and the game crashes.
Can anyone explain why this is happening now? It's really irritating. I don't want to be forced to uninstall Morroblivion.
I am also using mods that clear the data cache near-frequently, so I don't think this is related to savegame bloatation.
maybe its the unfixed scribs
maybe its the unfixed scribs he has problems with
Scribbs Are in Support Files 2
The Scribb Fix is in Support Files 2, as are the updated Nix-Hound, Alit, and Karoguti (plus Betty Netch & Bull Netch, and Greater Bonewalkers).
Seldalore assures me that he has installed Support Files 2.
He has reported many strange things that I cannot replicate. There is a conflict in his load order.
at least try to run
at least try to run morroblivion without any other mods just to make sure its morroblivion thats the problem
Creatures
I have run it without any mods. It seems that dead creatures I leave around for some time crash the game if I get anywhere near its carcase, like before with cliff racers. I have yet to kill any scribs though, so I'm not sure if they are what is causing this problem.
I also asked David about problems with Nix Hounds crashing the game when I engage them in combat. It's odd, but if I block their hit & continue to attack them the game will just crash. For now I've removed them from the leveled lists in my game.
Actually, after just playing I remembered a Cliff Racer entering Seyda Neen & Pelagiad. I believe the dead Cliff Racer is the reason for the crashes. It would also explain the area above Ald Ruhn causing my game to crash as well - the area is crawling with them... well, "was".
New Game?
Is this a new game? Try going someplace neutral and waiting for at least three days. Maybe you have some junk still in your savegame. That happens, unfortunately.
At one point I thought Cliffracers were causing problems, too. But I was not able to replicate. I think it's just bad data, not the Cliffracers themselves. I've killed a lot of Cliffracers; they are all over the place.
At some point...
Well, I had my character for about 20 hours before installing Morroblivion. But I'm using mods that completely clean up everything, ranging from clutter to creatures as well as an autosaver mod that clears the data cache, so I'm not sure if that's the cause. I had also sat inbetween Seyda Neen & Pelagiad (my two most unstable locations at the moment) and waited 3 days, but I'm still getting crashes if I get near the two places.
I created a new character, a Golden Saint, and had her roaming Vvardenfell until I saw some Nix Hounds. Obviously I decided not to play anymore, soon after that.
I'll continue that character, at least until this problem occurs again. I'm almost certain it is on behalf of the Cliff Racers, like before.
I've completely reinstalled the game. So far, so good... It's about as stable as it was the first time I installed Morroblivion.
The game doesn't seem to be crashing, not even Nix Hounds are causing problems. A few locations still crash the game, but I don't think this is related to the previous problem. For some reason Ghostgate crashes the game as soon as it loads the structure... does this happen to anyone else?
Ghostfence
The game is very stable for me, including the Ghostfence.
However, a couple of others have commented about it, and the same thing has happened to a couple of others. The Animated Ghostfence is a resource hog, so things slow down even of the best hardware.
I would try fiddling with some of the settings from your add-on mods.
Thank you
Ah, alright, that makes sense... my Oblivion game can only handle 2gb of memory. I was thinking that since the Cliff Racer bodies have such crazy behaviors after death that my game just can't handle loading their havok and just crashes.
I'm using the MOE - Main Quest Delayer mod and once I get arrested (to initiate the Cyrodiil main quest) the floor in the prison is missing and I start to fall... It seems that there are no end to the problems. Before anything, is the prison floor still in your game? I need to make sure this problem is on my end.
Two Masters Conflicting
The Imperial Prison is indeed messed up.
The Oblivion game engine has a very serious bug which, I thought, was confined to Worldspaces, but I now see also carries over to interior cells as well. Two ESM Master Files can't touch the same cell, either Exterior or Interior. Morrowind_ob.esm Deletes the Player Start Marker in the Imperial Prison, thereby "touching" a cell owned by Oblivion.esm.
I will address this in an update to World Transport. This will necessitate an update to Morrowind_ob.esm to Delete the Deletion at the same time.
I was planning on updating World Transport next anyway, so that it could start the Oblivion Main Quest. However, I do not have an ETA.
Until this is ready, the solution, although maybe not ideal, would be to Start Oblivion without Morrowind active, play through Oblivion up to exiting the sewers. Then, Activate Morrowind and World Transport; the ship to Morrowind will be right there waiting for you at the exit to the sewers. That was why I put it there in the first place.
Part of what I hope to accomplish with World Transport, is an option to hold onto the Amulet of Kings for you while in Morrowind (if on your person when you talk to the guide), then give it back when you go to the Imperial City. We'll see whether I get that far...
Okay
Alright. I'll hold off the main quest until this problem has been fixed then.
Are there any other cells I should worry about regarding this issue?
Oblivion Cells
I believe that the Imperial Prison is the only cell that will have this problem since the Queen of the Ashlands had originally deleted the Player Start Marker rather than substituting her own. That would not have caused the same problems in her Mod; it was only when merged as part of the Master that this problem would arise.
I have already partially updated my World Transport mod, but it will need a companion v017 to work properly. It is Morrowind_ob.esm that causes the problem, not World Transport.

Very Stable
