Ok, high poly is done, now to texturing, does anyone know if I can transfer ptex from mudbox to zbrush without having UVs?

Yeah anatomically its
Yeah anatomically its probably the hardest creature I've seen that if you were to apply real physics it would collapse under its own shape.
Even though the smaller jaw you've given him is more stabilizing to the shape of the body, it look a bit too bird like in overall appearance.
Could you try and give him a huge set of teeth to widen the overall look of the jaw and get away from looking like a beak?
Holy shit that thing looks
Holy shit that thing looks freaky.
Keep it up :P.
that is one freaky lookin
that is one freaky lookin thing. O.o i love it. lol
Looks cool, agree about the
Looks cool, agree about the teeth though. They could do with being a bit bigger.
I love it. And the unnatural
I love it. And the unnatural look is very good for the game. But it does need some type of balance so it doesn't die from falling over.
For a little fun here is some things to think about.
1: The beak mouth is a great idea. With a body as short as that it will need it to be able to reach the ground for food. Maybe a little longer or a very long and strong tongue to help with food manipulation.
2: The tail. Balance with the creature will be very clumsy and slow in its current form. Without a tail to be a counter balance, it would fall over and die. Seeing that it has no other limbs to help it get back to it's feet. What about a double tail about 2 to 3 feet long for balance and you could also add some type of natural weapon to them for defense and also to help with manipulation of food and what not.
These are just idea's and something to help with the design if possible.
Keep up the great work.
I love the style and detail,
I love the style and detail, u just have to match the scale and more shape to file I sent u now.
Apart from what shape change the morph needs, I think only a slightly longer body and tail for balance is needed.
Also when you're ready to colour it, if u wanna try a version in zbrush, i have some cool methods to show u :)
Thx for freaky description
Thx for freaky description lol I always found mw creatures a bit freaky.
I also think beak mouth is good (tho it also reminds me of horse skull), Beth usually likes do add new concepts for their creatures, and I think alit badly needed new one.
I will add a tail and more teeth and also morph it. But later Im off to see Hobbit ^ ^
Thank you Ravanna, cant wait to learn those methods!
Cya later
ok final shape, less freaky
ok final shape, less freaky now ;( :)
Also added some form to muscles and some teeth, top jaw remains bone material and at least 3 of the bottom jaw teeth are also from bone. Tongue will be added.

now to details, color, topology... uvs... :P
Well the model itself looks
Well the model itself looks very promising. So yeah! I think its great - i never like the original alit model :) Go go go!
thx tommy, here I started on
thx tommy, here I started on some details, its gonna be hard to transfer them tho.
/updated first post
I love everything about this
I love everything about this - but his posture. I suppose that could be fixed at the animation stage, though? Still looks like he's about to fall over with his feet under him at that angle. Still, amazing look overall!
The idea is to make it
The idea is to make it somewhat biologically/physically plausible. :P
I have tried to fulfill all
I have tried to fulfill all wishes from people about this model.
Some, like Smitehammer feel it still needs to be more realistic in proportions, while some like you Denevir feel it could be closer to original, thus not stable. I did something in between.
(edit: also the model is morphed to bones we can use)
I think this in between looks
I think this in between looks great! I cant wait to see it textured[External image]
I love it. I love those feet,
I love it. I love those feet, and that gnarly fangorious jaw. It's perfect and awesome. I say slap a coat of paint on that baby and set him loose.
It's hard to please everyone, just keep yourself at the top of the list. At the end of the day, you have to stand behind your artistic integrity.
I think it looks perfect, the
I think it looks perfect, the design stays true to the original while also giving it a realistic anatomical structure and design (something the original didn't have).
Its perfect, as Ashking
Its perfect, as Ashking Wulfharth says just needs that paint :)
Denevir, can we call you "Denevir - The Art of Morrowind guy"? I can change your username if you want? Thanks for the posts, but we get it, we have Michael Kirbrides art sketched into our brains and we love it, don't need to remind us anymore.
OMG! this looks great! My
OMG! this looks great! My only comment, maybe move the eyes back a bit, also there is a strange (dent?) under the nose above the teeth on the upper lip, it makes the upper lip all the more beak-like. Also Denevir, definately go with the nickname :P.

What I don't get is we've had this art in some of the earliest modeling threads, but he's keeps on posting like we haven't done our homework. Why don't doesn't denvir atleast check in chat before making all these posts? I wouldn't mind so much but he's been dumping them in abunch of inactive threads.
Well a lot of the early
Well a lot of the early pictures that were posted in threads are 'poofed'.
By the way, I wasn't saying I wanted the Alit more anatomical - just the posture is slightly off. Nothing at all to do with the model, just if she had a bit more bend to her legs she'd look like she could stand and run and eat your face off. Looks perfect, otherwise.
I hereby formally petition
I hereby formally petition that everyone stop hating on Denevir. He is trying to be helpful in the only way he feels that he is capable of. He has a genuine passion for the source material, and his heart is in the right place. It behooves us to have members that care about the original game and it's artwork. He has been reprimanded for bumping dead threads, but this thread is still active and recently updated.
That being said: Denevir, we've seen the original concept art. You don't need to justify your opinions. The universe changes with every game so no concept is canon. Just say, "I would like a bigger head," and leave it at that. When you throw a piece of art up like it's scripture, it makes people become defensive. That rarely brings out their better attributes.
Rant over. This thread belongs to the Alit.
I wish I had one in real life. It looks so diabolically evil, I would feed it kittens. Mwa ha ha!
More screenshots please - it
More screenshots please - it looks so cool! Are textures being done yet?

Model looks great. Morrowind
Model looks great. Morrowind is getting more and more realistic.
But may be it need more manipulator-like limbs?
If this creature cannot use it head/mouth as bird uses beak - it needs at least some legs with fingers.
alysander wrote:

Im confused you want the alit to have finger legs [External image]
:( i cannot into linguistics,
:( i cannot into linguistics, but actually it already have TOES, so i only want legs with DIGITS/FALANGAS as on my sketch here - with long fingers. Q: in english norms: do avians/birds have fingers or toes on legs?

They have talons
Birds have talons I.E [External image]
For all that girth it would
For all that girth it would need something rather stout. Perhaps something like an ostrich or an emu foot (if we go for talons, that is).
Seeing as the model is done,
Seeing as the model is done, and hopefully getting textured as we speak. I seriously doubt Nandi would even entertain the notion of adding arm toes, finger legs, or those weird butt feathers. It's well past the concept stage, so that ship has sailed.
The Alit doesn't need to manipulate anything, it obviously eats it's prey whole and it's favorite meal is dead topic necromancers that blast 20 threads in a night and make unreasonable requests, so you should probably run.
@Nandi- any chance of a sketchfab link? I would love to get a closer look at this beastie.

You are right, of course, but i hope that upgrading will never stops.
I see what is going on here,
I see what is going on here, we are trying to be punked into producing a Chocobo

I'm going to keep an eye on the Guar to make sure "My Little Pony" suggestions don't make there way in.
Denevir, there is a thread on Michael Kirbrides art http://tesrenewal.com/forums/skyrim/skywind-development-forums/concept-art/7571 We are really familiar with all the work and use it for inspiration all the time. Lets just say your posts are like a person at church, handing out flyers that say "Jesus saves". Kind of redundant.
But George Nelson withdraws!

To be fair hap, I think he did say he would stop posting the art and I'll give him the benefit of the doubt [External image]

Actually that creature looks very soft, earthly, innoxious, harmless.
All that attracted me in morrowind's fauna was it's "creepiness" and un-earthly, unnatural limb-body design.
There is no creatures in Skyrim that looks so awesome. Skyrim fauna consist of natural fauna of earth (cenozoic or modern) and just oversized arthropods - so in this aspect skyrim is just deer_hunter_sim. So I'm very worried about fate of creatures of this mod. It have chance to be realistic and unnatural in one time.

If you're so worried why don't you make us some more realistic models [External image]

At this time i have'nt required knowledges/skills and unpredictable small amount of time to arts (due to main work and my own projects). But of course i'll try it sometime.

I know you've been working hard on this guy, and we all appreciate it, my self included. I like a lot of what you've done with it.
But I have to say, that jaw muscle doesn't make any sense.

I know that it isnt exactly
I know that it isnt exactly the most logicical jaw but I think there can be a compromise on that being that it looks so ravaging... or ravenous, not sure[External image]
The sculpt is finished.
The sculpt is finished.
If you find something illogical you had plenty of time (topic was like dead for a week, I had some family issues) to argue/ or demand, during the development scheme, during which I have tried to import all design choices from various people, and that alone is not an easy task, when you are trying to do something how you feel is right.
Also those muscles make perfect sense to me, lower jaw extends to the skull beneath that huge neck muscle you are so worried about. The skull is so heavy that bones are penetrating the skin at some places. That neck muscle holds it in a bizarre way, (it is a bizarre creature in case you haven't noticed) even if for you people it makes no sense, for me it does and I love it that way. I feel it is one of the characteristics it will make it more unique.
/edit - if you want fingers, I would add them if the creature will be more then 5 meters tall so it needs additional help to eat its pray.
Its not an easy task to make a creature consisting of a head and legs to appear believable even less original.
This is My personal opinion.
If you don't like it, feel free to make a model yourself.
I will be happy to share all I have made so you can change it to your liking.
I have grown tired of defending my design choices, this creature and this topic.
Exactly, I for one love every
Exactly, I for one love every aspect about the design and I'm just waiting to see it all fancied up in color! (hopefully sometime soon)[External image]
> fingers

= That's just touches to make it perfect (more believable) in my opinion, model is excellent anyway. It would be notably if kagouti will be made as modification of this model.
> jaw muscles
= actually, in this aspect model is fully right and believable. For example, crocodile's jaw occlude muscles are arranged inside his jaws, so player can see them only from inside :)
@Nandi- enjoyable and
@Nandi- enjoyable and eloquent venting of your frustration. I'm a little surprised you didn't swear. Please don't lose faith in the project on account of all the feculent idea sharing. Some people would rather just try to assert their artistic vision than do any actual work.
@You know who you are- Here is a list of free software for 3D- Blender, for 2D- Gimp, for 3D sculpting- Sketchup. If only there were a place that was universally accessible that contained the sum of human knowledge, including various tutorials on how to use said software... Oh yeah! The internet. You're on it. Now go do some work and stop pissing off the talent.

Wow, that looks great!
