Load Order Issue

Submitted by Harry Hood on

I didnt see anything from what ive looked at about this, I have BOSS, OBMM, Wyre Bash, and who knows what else, They all tell me that its Oblivion.esm first then morroblivion and so forth, when i start oblivion it's alphabetical. I'm sure this has been asked a lot and what not but please help me.

I'm not sure I follow, what exactly is your problem?

Basically, whenever I start a new game everything yellow, EVERYTHING, i've read that thats a load order issue. When I'm on the oblivion launcher it's alphabetical, not in order with oblivion.esm first and so forth. My OBMM, BOSS, Wyre Bash w/e all show me and verify that it's in the order i need. When i open oblivion again, it's all alphabetical and everything yellow.

When you install Oblivion and DLCShiveringIsle and Unofficial Patch you use OblivionLauncher to  Play Oblivion.

When  you install Other Patches you Can Not use OblivionLauncher to Run Oblivion the .txt is for installing under WB..Set Load Order with OBMM ,,, Download and Install

OBSE,, to install  Extract files in to Temp Directory then Cut and Paste them into your ( Oblivion ) Directory and say Yes to Overwrite  All,, Go to your Oblivion Directory find ( obse_Loader.exe ) Right Click send to Desktop, Double click this Icon when on Desktop to Start your Game,, Load Order in  .txt file for Morrowind_ob files..

Oblivion Launcher is not the tool to set load order. You don't even need to run it, launch the game via OBSE.

Your problem is that you didn't install the resouces or installed them incorrectly or didn't activate Morrowind_ob.esp.

Word. Trying not to be a noob but everyone starts somewhere, So, no Oblivion Launcher, only use Obse_loader.exe cool. I click on it and it brings up a command promp them says to run it through steam and make sure ingame w/e is checked. I could just be doing something noob again but idk, as far as installation, i'm pretty sure I did it correctly. Everytime i start a new game it's yellow and everyone is falling.

I'm still not sure what I'm doing wrong, I've tried to follow all of the directions i've seen very carefully. I re-installed Oblivion and Morrowind and Moved the Steam folder to My Documents. After that I installed OBSE, Oblivion Unofficial Patch, Wyre Bash, Elys, Vvardenfall Imports, and the Morroblivion installer, those ones are fairly simple to install, pretty sure I did it right. After that the resources .rar I extracted into Oblivion/Data I couldn't find clear directions on where to put it but I assumed in Data, same goes for the hotfix. I open Wyre Bash (Oblivion) and it shows the mods perfectly in order the way they should be so I close it and try to open obse_loader.exe in my Oblivion folder and I get prompted with the same message about running it through steam and enabling in-steam overlay thing.

My Documents is Still a windows Directory try C:\Games\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion

Do not Need Vvardenfell Imports  All Files are in 2 gig,,  do what you did with WB then Run OBMM Set your Load Order then start your Game with OBSE

Moving it as I speak, do I have uninstall Vvardenfall Imports or is it automatically written over? I'm sure there is a readme but how do I set my load order with OBMM as simple as possible?

I moved my whole Steam folder to C:\Games, I then moved Oblivion and Oblivion mods into a newly made folder called C:\Games\Bethesda Softworks. After going into C:\Games\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\obse_loader.exe it still prompts me with the steam issue.

Change load order with OBMM  Click  .esm or .esp on the Bottom Move Up Move Down to change Load Order.

With  OBSE you Did put in All the Sub Directory when you cut and Pasted into Oblivion Directory,, Should have Oblivion\Data\OBSE\Plugins

Did you end up finding Steam Version of OBSE

I would ask you to read tescosi.com for a basic modded Oblivion installation guide. It covers the basics of installing OBSE, OBMM etc, followed by installation of mods. Suggest you use Wrye Bash instead of OBMM to install mods.

Alright, So I have Oblivion in C:\Games\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion and Oblivion Mods, Then I have my steam directory as C:\Games\Steam. When I (what I think was the steam obse) downloaded the new obse It would bring up command promp and give me a steam error message, so I moved them back into steamapps\common\etc and the command promp pops up and then does oblivion launcher, some success I guess, when I start a new game however everything is still yellow and im falling.

Make  Shore you Have in OBMM

Oblivion.esm

Morrowind_ob.esm

 somewhere Lower in Load Order

Morrowind_ob.esp

Yellow Everywhere is Load Order or Missing Meshes  If you Do not Have Morrowind_ob.esm Right below Oblivion.esm you will Get Yellow Everywhere..

If you Do not have Morrowind_ob.esp Activated you will Get Yellow Everywhere

Okay so after that last comment I think I found the problem and thank everyone for being so patient. I have Oblivion.esm, Morrowind_ob.esm, Unofficial oblivion patch.esp, then DLC from GOTY, I do not have any Morrowind_ob.(ESP)

It's in the core Directory with the .bsa and Morrowind_ob.esp,,,Morrowind_ob - UCWUS.esp

I only have Morrowind_ob.esm in my Oblivion/data

Re_Read the 2gig  Archive with WB the,, .esp are in 00 Core Directory, if it does not turn up Extract the  Files and put them  in Oblivion\Data the Re_Read with OBMM to place in Load Order..

When all files a Showing up in OBMM on  Right hand Side of OBMM under ( Utilities ) you will see ( Archive Invalidation ) Click it,, Botom Right of New Panel Click Update Now so OBMM Reads the ( .bsa ) Files into the ( data ) files it Creates with your Load Order it  for Oblivion to Read.

maybe i brushed over some readme by accient but in my oblivion/data its filling with 00 Core 01 xxx, 01 xxx, etc, was i supposed to extract whats inside those folders into oblivion/data?

Yea, the stuff inside those folders have to go into the Oblivion/Data directory, starting with 'Core' :)

Wow, that solved it, I feel like such an idiot for just extracted the whole .rar into /data and not the items within the folders. Either way, thank you for everything everyone, I will be enjoying and loving this mod for months to come!
