Vivec's soul. Can it be captured?

Submitted by bowiefan5 on

In the original MW, it was possible.

Ugh.  We'd better not have black soul gems.  I hate those stupid things.  Any ole' hobo has a soul equivalent to a god.

How about just letting regular soul gems work on NPCs?  Petty for tiny animals, lesser for most beasts, common for the vast majority of NPCs, greater beasts, and lesser daedra (like scamps), greater for powerful NPCs (like Telvanni wizards) and most other daedra (atronachs), and grand for top-tier daedra and Divayth Fyr.  Vivec and Almalexia would require Azura's Star.

Though I suppose those Oblivion atrocities are now canonized, so whatever.  Black soul-gems.  Joy.

Did you try with Azura Star

I did try with Azura's star and got nothing.

Since Vivec is an NPC in the game and the way Oblivion works you'll in fact need a black soulgem. Though there are probably mods out there that change the way soulgems work.

Azura's star is not a black soul gem.

Couldn't you Capture  Almalexia Soul in Morrowind with Azura's Star

Have never used Azura's Star has it been setup as Rechargable.

Oblivion's soul gem system is vastly different from Morrowind's. All NPCs can only be captured by black soulgems. Almalexia is an NPC just like everyone else you can talk to. Morroblivion doesn't have its own Azura's star, it's simply the standard Oblivion version. As such it can hold the same kind of souls as an ordinary Grand Soul Gem. It can be recharged however. Since both Azura's star and Black Soul Gems are hardcoded into the game their behavior cannot be modded.

^ This.

BTW, I don't think there are any black soulgems available on Vvardenfell - you'll need to make a trip to Cyrodiil to get some.

Huge fan of the work here, first time posting. I have been getting a message "No soul gem in your inventory is large enough to capture this soul."  when I try to capture Daedric Lords and Golden Saints. I have Azura's star in my inventory so it should be able to handle anything. Is it because Morrowblivion sees them as NPCs? If that's the case is there a way to get a grand soul into a soul gem in morrowblivion?

The reason I went to find a grand soul is because the enchantment options were pretty slim compaired to my actual spells. I may have to download the mod linked in another post, "Soul Traps & Enchantments" (I couldn't link it because I just created my account). I was surprised nobody else has been discussing this issue; which lead me to think it could be my settings, but right now I'm only running the base Morrowblivion and I haven't tweaked anything so I doubt it. Any help would be appreciated.
