[WIP] Imperial Forts Exteriors

Submitted by Wertyn on

So I took the the first task. Must redraw parts imperial fortresses, then to the rest of them put together. Also I need to make a fort lunar butterfly. So if someone lying around concepts, will be glad to see them. This W.I.P. will be updated as new parts drawing.

I really hope that community will make forts bigger and with some training and supply buildings (so imperials can grow some imperial food there). They are not really looks very busy.

Wert there may be a way to bake the vertex colours, but for meshes this big I dont see baking unique textures working, as eloth said.
We will try to use tiling textures where possible.

Otherwise, very good work, look foward to a complete set ;)

@ Ravanna

Eloth  told me to make the texture 4096 x 4096. When baking, I will split objects into pieces and bake them separately, and then sew UV coordinates. This will avoid artifacts at the joints objects

Cool, they look good.

Very nice. The dirt/grunge at the bottom could be a bit darker imo, but I really like the top close-up! Texture is very original there!

I like the Akaviri influences on the design. :)

Looks great. Could use a few more cracks etc. to show wear and tear though.

Guys, I've been thinking about how to make the gate in the imperial forts. What do you think about this?

It's a reference, never said it should be replicated in 100%. Of course one will have to suit it to the style of the other building tiles, but the general shape should be like this.

And Colovians aren't medieval Britons either, they're much more early Byzantine - like, while Nibenese are western Roman with some crazy ass additions (moths and elder scrolls).

Morrowind is not the capital province of the Imperials, so I see no reason why their architecture should be emphasized very much... But yeah. I also see no reason why that gate wouldn't be shaped like this, since it's not even really straight up Roman (more Romano-British).

In Oblivion the Imperials seemed more like Medieval British than Roman in many ways.

Medieval - yes. British - wouldn't say so. Britain doesn't have monopoly for medieval architecture, lots of the gothic stuff could easily be French or German :P And straight up medieval look is not what we want to pursuit, it's even more tired and unoriginal than straight up Roman (as much as I love medieval stuff).
