Suggestion: make money

Submitted by david findley on

Hi Guys,

I loved TES so much, and I am so incredibly dismayed by the new MMO coming out. I am very, very much looking forward to your work in play.

My suggestion is to: please start a kickstarter! I would give you 20$ right now, if I could, and then be more than happy to purchase your mod.

I suggest: you form a formal mod'der circle, vote and designate a CEO (lead programer,) start a kickstarter project, publicize it, make millions, turn your mod'ding into a full-time project, pay yourselves handsomely from the kickstarter funds, and the mod price release,

and make your awesomeness a career.

can you do this? is it legal? figure it out.

also, PS, it would mean SO SO much if you guys incorporated a 'realistic' combat mod. I'd love the original morrowind magic system, too...

anyways, I just wish I could contribute the only way I can -- with a little bit of $$$. I know you guys would make millions.

If you want to help financially, and don't mind no chance of a return, we do have a paypal donation tab around here somewhere. It helps fund the web fees.

If we tried to sell this mod, Bethesda would sue us into the stone ages.

Nothing in return? You get that pretty donor badge

ugh... fine. here's 20$. I'd give more but I am broke. maybe I'll give more, later.

please consider publicizing a kickstarter and negotiating with Bethesda. You guys need to be making good $$$ and doing this full-time.

I want my skywind -_-

@Gendrun- I just meant no financial return.

@david- What we should do is use this amazing collection of talent and dedicated people to start an independent studio and beg Kirkbridge to hire on.

The few people I've talked to at Bethesda have been really cool, and I don't know if anyone from Skywind has pitched to them as yet. But I don't know what kind of legal issues they would have to overcome to become financially involved in this. As in, paying former employees, and verifying that no pirated or student version software was used, etc....

It's not just the case - if "making money" in gamedev, then it would be better to create new world, instead of making someone else's work. And it would be on better engine than Creation.

If we make money off of the mod Bethesda would shut us down quicker than lightning it simply cannot happen! Best you can do is donate to keep the forum up

Half the reason is that Bethesda doesn't necessarily own all the rights to every asset of the game, hence why zenimax was so touchy on the transfer of game assets, basically if they were involved in any way they could take a legal hit aswell, so far as I understood it anyways,so again even a kickstarter is iimpossible, maybe I f it was our own game and own world

Topic locked.  This is not a productive area of discussion.

Also I refunded his $20.  Donating to the website won't make Skywind happen any faster.
