A Question Regarding "King of Mournhold" Quest

Submitted by scotty35503 on

I apologize if this topic is in the way of topic as that are actually productive to Morroblivion development, but I have a question that is driving me crazy.

I was looking around in the CS with the Morrowind_ob.esm loaded, and I found a quest called "The King of Mourn hold". The EditorID is "fbmwNQKing".

In the quest data, there is a stage that indicates a "Resdayn Timsar" suggests that the player can become king if he kills King Helseth.

When I saw this, I thought it night have been some cut content from Tribunal where Bethesda intended the player to become the King. However, when looking for the quest in the original Tribunal.esm in the Morrowind CS, it is no where to be found. The NPC Resdayn Timsar, unsurprisingly, doesn't exist. Others, on Reddit, have looked for this quest also and cannot find it.

Is this something that the team here was working on? I'm genuinely curious if this quest exists in Morrowind under a different ID or something.

Here is a screenshot that I took of the quest data. I annotated it and posted it on Reddit, as I thought I'd found a hidden gem.

There was no such quest in Morrowind, and quest prefix NQ most likely stands for New Quest. Probably whoever made the Tribunal questline wanted to expand it, but never did.

I wounldn't call it a 'hidden gem', more like a leftover.

I've seen this too while debugging the Questline but never did anything with it. I can see the reasoning behind it though, if you killed Helseth in Morrowind nothing really happened. In Morroblivion he's essential though, so this quest is somewhat...pointless.

Remove his Essential and Continue on as Another Quest when some get time  to Create the Quest.

Maybe once all the quests and some mod conversions are perfectly done. I don't really see the point in killing King Helseth and somehow getting away with it, no even becoming the king yourself instead of being torn to pieces on the spot. I'm pretty sure the rule of succession works differently from that. Even if you're the Nerevarine. But then again I have a dislike for the various "Become Emperor" mods as well.

Also, the Nerevarine becoming King and killing Helseth is not at all lore friendly, considering that Helseth outlawed slavery shortly after the Nerevarine left and shortlym before the Oblivion Crisis began.

I didn't think you guys wanted to "add" anything to Morroblivion that wasn'ft in the original game?

If you are working on Original Game you Could Kill Helseth  he is only for 1 Part of the Game Then Not Needed Same as in Morrowind where you Only had to Do 1 Quest Through Him to Get to Karrod.

We already add things that weren't in the original - AI schedules and grass, for example.

Regarding this quest - it can't be accessed ingame by any means (and it is highly inlikely it will ever be), so it's not really 'added', is it?
