Original and ReDone Pillars 440.18 KB

Hello everyone,

I've been working on the StrongHoldInterier models and wanted to get every ones opinion on how I'm doing and if there was anything I'm doing wrong. This is my first time modeling for a game so be brutal!! Well maybe not too brutal modeling is tiring aha!

Heres my latest model(Right) that I've done, I put it next to the original(Left)  and I know I haven't done the textures yet but how does it look.

-Should I smooth it out or keep it rough???

-Do I have to Hollow it out like the Original???

-How much more detail do I need??? (Suggestions)

-And do I need to match size 100%??? (cause Mine is a bit bigger)

you don't need to make it 100% the same we are here to improve what we can, and that means things can change a bit as long as it similar to the morrowind one.

now about your column, i think it is good but i suggest you to smooth some areas and not make the entire column rugged...

Thank you!

I wasn't sure If I was suppose to make it look the same But nicer or Completely make it look better and different. Yea it was a rough model I made, was trying to go for a rocky carved wall look and wasn't sure how I should make it.

I should Probably do some concept art on how I want the Interior to look before I go any future.

I really like your take on it, Sosaj! I for one love the rusted/rugged look of the asset as an element of age and/or oxidization. Considering how old the strongholds are, I think it really brings in perspective the age of the structures and things within it. For the sake of variance, feel free to play around with the texture maybe to really give it more depth of decay.

Make sure those models are done from scratch. Sounds silly, but even though you have the rough surface, the placement and structure is exactly the same.

import the fbx scene at scale 1, and u will find that each piece is spaced out by set amounts, and each piece is scaled.
Model from scratch, but model over the old pieces and keep the positions and scales, but higher poly.
Also, please use tiling textures.
If you must, use the original textures so we can replace them later

if you decide to smooth an area of the pillar, smooth the bottom part, roughly hand height to about a foot at the bottom; as those areas of pillars are touched and over time will start to smooth out also some slight yellowing, if it is a lighter colored stone, will show that it has been touched over the years.
