Graphics Card HELP!!!

Submitted by Me on

Recently uprgraded my graphics card from GeForce 9800GT to GTX460 and morroblivion is no longer working. It will load the game (and the save game) but all I get is a grey screen. Help please.

Will I have to reinstall it all because I don't want to lose the saved gameand start over as I have made a lot of progress in multiple quests.

Does Oblivion itself still work alright? (try a newgame just to test).

Have you:

installed drivers for your new video card?

tested any other games?

opened the oblivion launcher (the menu that pops up when you put the game DVD in) and gone to "options" and selected your new video card?

I have a GTX 470 and it's working fine

Hashmi1: Normal Oblivion, both with morroblivion installed and running vanilla, are doing the same thing with new games.

thermador:

Of course I installed the drivers (Most recent according to nvidia site)

Every other game that works does not have a problem.

And before I first started the game I selected the card in launcher. It is the only gfx card I have installed.

And yes the drivers for the 9800GT are uninstalled.

Ok I found out what the problem is. the GTX460 does not support HDR lighting, which the 9800 does. So me switching cards and trying to use my old settings didn't work.

However the antialiasing creates really weird textures when activated. If someone can tell me how to screen capture in oblvion (as my print screen key won't work in the game) I will post an image.

Edit: There is a fake HDR mod that looks quite nice ... maybe not as good as the real thing but anyways.

The inbuilt ScreenShoot feature can not work with AntiAliasing ... but you can use the trial version of Fraps instead.
