[Proof of Concept] Blankets

Apparently, no one in Tamriel uses blankets when sleeping. Well, not anymore:

This is still a very early concept, but it can potentially allow unique blanket types for different beds, appearing automatically.

Shape of a blanket is still WIP and subject to change.

Looks like it is of to a Good

Looks like it is of to a Good Start, any chance  for a Patch for See You Sleep where  Player Pulls  Back Blanket to get into Bed and Reverse to get out of Bed. with new Animation.

Very good. I hope they will be very vulnerable without armor (may be even with armor in container) he-he

I'll look into compatibility with See You Sleep in the future, but can't promise it'll work.

New animations are out of the question - I don't have skills for that.

Blankets aren't clothing items, so NPC will still wear whatever they were wearing underneath. However most NPCs unequip armor when sleeping anyway.

Uploading the first version

Uploading the first version for those who want to test it out.

I finished the esp work and tweaked the blanket shape. It's still not perfect though so expect minor clipping with some beds.

Should work for any Morroblivion bed (NPC only).

EDIT: There was a bug in the esp, which prevented vanilla sleeping animations from playing. Reuploaded the fixed version.

I have to say I really like

I have to say I really like these. They blend in perfectly with the beds. I have a few notes though: Weapons and equipped weapons will clip through the blankets, their AIpackage probably needs a no armor and weapons flag (Eydis Fire-Eye for example). Also, the blankets don't have any collision with is probably necessary because otherwise you couldn't activate the NPC under it, it's unlikely I want to use them as shelves anyway. What would really add icing to the cake would be animated blankets, but so far I really like this addition, though it's not often that you stumble into peoples' houses when they're sleeping except for guilds or if you're a thief.

Yep. But I think sleep packages need this checkboxes anyway. Thanks for reporting Eydis.

the blankets don't have any collision

They are set up as AnimObjects, so I don't think they even can have collision.

Great idea. Expanded it to

Great idea. Expanded it to fit any bed from any mod. Requires OBSE, but no check in the mod, done it quick and dirty way. Enjoy.

@qwertyasdfgh: You may use it in your works any way you want.

Umm... can you please give

Umm... can you please give some more details on that? I can make this work for any bed from any mod without any scripting, but this will kinda defeat the whole point of having blankets matching the bed type. (I looked at your scripts, but frankly I can't undersatnd what you were trying to accomplish with them)

Well, first of all i do not

Well, first of all i do not hold to the idea of a bed-blanket match, as i use quilts and blankets mod which recolors vanilla beds and my own Hammerfell mod has many new beds too.

Surely, it is possible to add a blanket to any bed without scripting (add new idle anim --- add anim object --- position it last to fire after Morroblivion ones which match their beds) but i wanted some more logic in the process. I wanted all 10 blankets to be used at the same rate but without any random factor -- i.e. when any npc goes to sleep on bed #1, he will always get red blanket, and if he sleeps on bed #2 -- blanket will be blue, and so on.

So that script does one thing. When npc sleeps my script gets ref of the bed he's sleeping upon, ref is then is casted to decimal type (00082f13 hex -> 536339 float) and after thet blanked is applied based on the remainder of deletion this float by 10. In this example remainder is 9, which means a token ring #9 is added to an actor - and blanked #9 is added. When npc awakes all tokens are removed, and when after awakening he returns to sleep - he will again get blanket #9 on this bed or some other blanker # on other bed.

Alright then. I probably won

Alright then. I probably won't use it since I like matching blankets, but maybe someone else will.

Here's another version, much

Here's another version, much better one imo.

I found that using idles and anim objects is not a good way, it doesn't work with other animation mod, for example Personality Idles and may be others. So i tried a different approach. I got rid of anim objects and idles altogether, defined blankets as static objects -- and just placeatme them on sleeping actors. When actor gets out of bed -- blanket is disabled and deletereference is called, so no savegame bloating.

Also it allows to use with your desired effect -- matching beds/blankets. Just do getbaseobject on a bed's ref -- and select a blanked based on it.

Hi.

Hi.

May i ask for a permission to use those blanket resources -- as i would like to add this "blanket when sleeping" functionality as a submod to Haldar's Mods Pack (http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/36399/). Credits will be given of course.

Sure thing, I never impose

Sure thing, I never impose any restrictions on usage of my mods.

I only made the meshes though. Textures used are from Morroblivion itself.
