Going To Jail and Mysterious Doors

Submitted by Kuma Games on

I started a new game, in Morrowind. After a short while, the doors to the Census and Excise Offices became locked, with me unable to enter.

I wanted to turn in the information and money on the dead tax collector, Processus Vitellius. At some point, the door unlocked. I went all the way through, only to find, after turning in what I needed to, the door locked on me. And I couldn't "wait" to see if it unlocked.

I had no choice but to pick the lock. Unfortunately, my lockpicks broke, and all hell broke loose. I was arrested, and since I needed to escape the house, I let them arrest me. In jail, I slept my time off.

When I woke... I was outside Anvil. They shipped me across the ocean to go to jail for a measly 5 gold infringement.

Things get weirder from there, too, though I think it was a different mod at that point. A "Bounty Hunter" appeared and attacked the guard outside. For some reason. Lol.

So... Any idea what in the world THAT'S all about?

The doors lock and unlock because Morroblivion adds AI to the NPCS which causes them to do so in the evening and in the morning. You need to enter buildings during "business hours" which is usually between 8AM and 8PM. I don't know though why you were sent to Anvil, this certainly shouldn't happen. I can see from your other post that you use a lot of mods. Do you still use them? They might interfere with Morroblivion in some way. Especially if they alter crime.

With all the Mods  that running looks like it has Deactivated  Player in Morrowind and thinks he is in Tamriel

I don't use any overhauls, and I don't believe I have anything that alters crime in any way, shape, or form. The odd thing about the locking doors was that it seemed to be backwards; these doors locked all day and unlocked for about 5 minutes at around 10PM. Also, if it matters, everything related to Morroblivion runs last in my load order.

No but the Mods you Run do a lot of Alteration that will effect Morrowind_ob.esm seeing it still does use Some Oblivion Content and you could be Creating  errors.

download and Install OBMM  Set your Load Order you are Running, then Download TES4Edit Load All files in to TES4Edit when Loaded Right Click on Oblivion.esm and Apply a Filter (Do Not Alter any Settings  Leave as Default ) wait for it to Finish , When finished Highlight all Files Morrowind_ob.esm Down ( Do not Highlight Oblivion.esm )

Hold Shift and Click 1 File at a Time ,when all Lit Up Right Click and Check For Errors walk away will Take Awhile. you will need to Check  ( Red ) files that want to Alter any of Morrowind\Morroblivion  Files Rearrange Load Order to Try and Solve Errors or Deactivate the Files

The way Oblivion handles prisons is hardcoded into the game. When the player is sent to jail through guard dialogue the game will send him to the nearest prison marker. This certainly wouldn't have been Anvil in your case. So something in your game must have gone wrong this one time or a mod changes or alters this system. Try being sent to jail in different areas in Morrowind and see where they put you.

Have been Locked Up in Seyda Neen and Player was Sent to Pelagiad no Problems

Morroblivion  Faction Relations has been Merged in to the Master File several Versions ago. you want to Check to See if Morrowind_ob Reznod Mannequins,, Reznod_Mannequins can Be Used together, there are other files in your Load Order that are not Happy to work together

Also check Morroblivion Water,, and Natural Water

I've already run BOSS and managed my load order. In fact, doing that is what screwed up my initial test of Morroblivion, as it placed my Morrowind esm way too far down the line.

I've cleaned all the mods and used Wrye Bash to manage them.

I will, however, check the mods you mentioned. Thank you. In any case, I don't see the above mods making me go to jail in the wrong place.

To be fair, I didn't go anywhere beyond Seyda Neen, so maybe it couldn't load the country or something and it defaulted to Anvil?

That's a possibility though I somwhat doubt it. Unless it happens again or continuously happens I would just file it under weird bugs that Oblivion just has. You'll have to do more testing to see if anything changes.

I have to cheat myself 1000 gold to hop back on the ship to go home. No fast travel. T_T

Note to self: Don't go to jail.
