Probably a stupid problem with a simple fix, but help?

Submitted by fifthmanstanding on

I followed the youtube videos to a T, made sure everything on my screen looked like it did on his screen ect. I used Bash and all the programs he used and followed the process along with the video step by step. Upon booting up everything looked good until I got to character creation. It was glaringly obvious that there was an issue because the seydna neen boat was pink. All the models, I presume, are missing the textures. Noticably there was also no voice for the dunmer slave on the boat or the guard that comes to get you on startup. All character animation, textures, ect were fine. Just no voices. Exiting the boat I noticed some trees/plants/bushes were pink and most of the building's architecture, walls ect were also pink, inside the consunsus office was like beating eaten by bubblegum. The only thing I noticed that deviated from the video's results were upon installing the mods, I installed the Morroblivion v022 mod and suddenly the diamond with the + symbol beside Vvardenfell Imports turned yellow.

Any ideas?

Robertnevelle777 is working on porting over the voices, but that is a lot of work and it will take him a while. There is currently no Morrowind voice acting. There IS voice acting, but only what leaks through from Oblivion. Pink things mean missing textures. You have not done the Complete Installation properly. My guess is that you forgot one of the latter two pieces, Part 2 or Part 3, or both.

Ok. So short of uninstalling everything, would it be acceptable to go back, drop files from part 1, then drop files from part 2, then 3 ect?

Also, what does a yellow diamond with a + in it indicate in Bash, next to Vvardenfell imports? should i be concerned?

Yes, you can overwite files. Bash has a documentation page that explains everything. I don't remember what all the symbols are. If you are using Windows 7 or Windows Vista and have installed Oblivion to it's default location, then I'm afraid you have a much larger problem.

I just deleted all the files out of morroblivion v022 folder, following along with the video again, re-unpacked Morrowblivion Complete installation part 1 (dropped contents) then part 2 (dropped contents) then part 3 (dropped contents) and dropped the morrowind-ob file again.

Still no dice, same things are pink. Could it be the vvardenfell imports folder? or maybe a bad patch or something?

I am on windows 7 and morrowind and Oblivion are at C:/Games then morrowind or oblivion or oblivion mods respectively.

Where are you putting these files? You're not telling me what you are actually doing when you "drop files." You need to be specific. Oblivion wants things to be EXACTLY where it expects them to be. It is very picky about that. The part where you say "I just deleted all the files out of morroblivion v022 folder" leads me to believe that you are putting things in the wrong place. There are tutorials on Nexus that will do a much more thorough job of explaing how to install mods than I can. The Files from the Complete Installation need to go into the Oblivion data folder.

The morroblivion v022 folder can be found at C:/Games/Oblivion Mods/Bash Installers/Morroblivion v022

The Morroblivion World Transport and Vvardenfell imports are under the same "Oblivion Mods" folder.

The Morroblivion Complete Installation rars 1/2/3 are each unzipped, and dropped into the Morroblivion v022 folder in the correct order.

When I booted up and saw all the pink, I posted a topic here, then I went to the Morroblivion folder, deleted all the contents, then unpacked Morroblivion Complete Installation rars 1/2/3 and dropped the contents of each of their data folders in order of 1, 2 and 3. I then opened Bash, right clicked on "Morroblivion v022", refreshed, and reinstalled.

Also, my Bash looks like this:

That yellow bar won't go away and the yellow diamond has been there.

I'm sorry, but I do not use installers, either Bash, or OBMM or anything else. However, I do know that there are detailed explanations for bash here: http://wryemusings.com/Wrye%20Bash.html

What installers are you referring to? The only thing I've used in this process is Wyre Bash and BOSS just like the video instructed.

David Budreck has different methods from the videos.  He does not use 'mod installers' like OMM or BASH or possibly not even BOSS or OSE.  I use OMM instead of BASH.

1st question: Did you make sure to get Vvardenfell imports' parts 1 and 2 from the mirror section from the nexus site?~~~~

Wrye Bash and OBMM both have "Installers" that deal with placing files properly for you. When you referr to "The morroblivion v022 folder can be found at C:/Games/Oblivion Mods/Bash Installers/Morroblivion v022" you are using this function in Wrye Bash. I don't know anything about that because I always install everything manually. The ONLY thing I ever use OBMM for is to unpack OMOD Archives so I can install them manually...

Well. I deleted everything, like a full delete of both morrowind and oblivion and went though the video again. It worked this time. I'm not sure what I didn't differently, I guess it was just copying something wrong. But it does work now and it is absolutely wonderful. This is the greatest labor of love by a fan base I've ever seen. Thank you guys so much.

Sidenote: in terms of getting tribunal/blood moon to work: to get to solsthiem you would go to Khuul and talk to the Kahjit on the docks. The Kahjit is there but has no dialogue options. I googled the issue and came up with:
http://morroblivion.com/forums/morroblivion/general/314

I followed the instructions of the second post and now not only can I not get to solsthiem, i cannot use fast travel, my map looks like a badly bleeding bitmap image and no character has any arms (everyone looks like rayman lol) so I assume something's been copied wrong. Short of...sigh....re-deleting and re-installing every mod....does anyone know any fix for this?

The post you are referring to is almost two years old, and is very -- Very -- obsolete. Missing arms was the very first thing my Master file addressed, so if you have missing arms that leads me to believe that you have not installed or activated the Morrowind_ob.esm file. The map of Vvardenfell is included in the Complete Installation; I have no idea what you have done. Wat instructions in the 2nd post are you referring to? Converting Morrowind using the ESP Converter? That option is no longer supported because of the vast number of meshes and textures included in all the creatures and changes we've been making. But, is still possibly viable provided you make sure you are able to find and download everything individually. Wrye Bash has an option of listing mods; you don't have to take a screenshot, just post the list.
