I'm 'the dude who needed rocks'.
hey, here is another test rock. tell me what you like or dont like . i keep experimenting. iam not expecting that this style is gonna be used but i wanted to show this rock anyway.
texture is 1k and polycount 200 (not optimezed! i just use auto UV and a tiling rock texture)
the good thing is, that i have a repeatable workflow for this style so i can make any size and form you want in a reasonable amount of time.

Like both rocks. High quality, unassuming and fit the look of original Morrowind ones best. If that rock made in this variety and retextured for the different regions, I imagine we wouldnt need any more but the most unique forms:
Sasquatch those rocks are east west gash/west ashland style. Large rocks will require tiling methods. Smarti's methods will be best for small rocks
I like. I want more. Talk to Ravanna about model stuff. I'm not too good at it. But you have those examples I sent you. Look at them and the comments I included.
Hey, there is actual a claims for cave rocks http://tesrenewal.com/forums/environmental-models-that-need-to-be-claimed-and-redone/cave-rocks-unclaimed
I freed it up because there hasn't been much communication with the last person to want to do this and its always better to go to our proven developers. Let me know if you want to tackle some/all of these?
hey, just for clearification :). Thermocrius ask for a modeler to make rocks for his enviroment editing a special area and i agreed. he gave me a bunch of information i should follow and so am i trying to find a satisfying style to provide him with the rocks he needs. i just dont want that somethings mixup here :) . i hope i dont sound angry or something thats not what i am.i want apology that i missed to speak with you to kmake an agreement :S .
i want ot finish the rocks Thermocrius need and then we can talk about other rocks. is that ok? do you agree happychappy?
ok, here is another test cliff rock.. man i suck. i never thought that it could be that hard making rock. i keep experimenting, maybe i kinda get a hang of it.
here 3d preview ---------> https://skfb.ly/zWyZ

All the fairly generic MW rocks should be remade. These look close to the firs two made here and similar to the ones in the picture I posted. Generic rocks should be usable in all caves and most regions with a retexture and be suitable replacements for existing forms.

Great to see people proactively helping each other. All we are here for is to make sure that people know what can be done, and level designers wanting assets is a number one priority, so good job.
What regions are these for? We have avoided baking textures for the landscape for the specific purpose of we only have one or two textures to load for a particular region. Plus baked textures at those sizes becomes very poor quality up close. We use tiled textures and vertex colouring to get the detail when it comes to rocks.
Ask Ravanna or Eloth for details as they have done many rocks already.
Smartinus the method you are using seems the correct one, but u need to be careful with zbrush, it creates errors than wont decimate. zooming in on your mode shows 2 areas where the triangle density is super dense, we need to edit out those areas.
Also, the ideal size for baked rocks like this is probably 2-3x smaller. And only a few per area else we'll have a lot of 2048s and a lot of ram taken up.
Talk later :)

Well I needed West Gash rocks
