New Member(3D Models), Where do I start?

Submitted by TheBaconDragon on

Hello,

I saw the latest Skywind - Official Development Video and I thought it would be a nice project to contribute to. Unfortunately, I didn't get to play Morrowind. I tried Skyrim and I absolutely loved it. I enjoyed the characters, the art, the gameplay, and (when I discovered them) the mods. I found that most of all though I really got sucked into the lore of TES series and looked up what I could about the past games/events.

I'm currently a student close to finishing up. I've worked on a few other side projects but I feel working on this project would be a great step towards getting some more experience, increasing my current portfolio, and working on a project for a series I really enjoy.

The only problem is I wasn't exactly sure how to get started here. I've seen that mainly help is needed in environmental models/textures and I would be more than happy to contribute however I can. If I need to be evaluated for what I can handle I can provide my website information.

I look forward to being able to contribute this community and meeting everyone here.   Current Modeling/Texture Programs I use (All Student Versions, please let me know if this will be a problem):   Modeling/Details/Retopolization: Autodesk 3dsMax 2014, Zbrush 4R5, 3DCoat   UVW unwrapping:   Autodesk 3dsMax 2014, Roadkill   Texturing:   Photoshop CS5.1, 3D Coat

What do you like to do? Stones, plants, mushrooms?

Well, I don't mind working on props. I had to work before on some very low poly boulders, fruit, and vegetables for a project though the art style was very different. If I saw what kind of plants and mushrooms needed to be done I can make those as well. I've worked on a few low and high poly characters/busts but I think environmental props would work out best if there's a high demand for them. If there's any more indoor props (pots, furniture, etc) I can work on those as well.

Most attention needs to be paid towards interiors and architecture atm. Any good with that? talk to myself, happy or eloth.

I've been getting the tools I need together, I'll probably be using NifSkope as I wasn't seeing a plug-in for Max 2014. I don't have a lot of experience with interior/architecture modeling. What if I tried to model an interior piece that hasn't been claimed and posted views of it for you to judge whether my efforts should be focused on that area or another? Do you think that would be a good way to determine if I can help on that?
