Heres an initial idea i have for the sword. I'm changing a fair few elements in this one so theres a bit more variety in shape and silhouette. The middle image is where i realized that if i stuck too close to the original its going to look similar to my last sword.
The blade atm is just a tweaked version of the Stalhrim Greatsword.

Insanity made this one a while back. Obviously since he is on the other side we cant use it but you can let it inspire you.^^
The second one is one I found on deviantart.

I'm going to swing the shit out of that sword in game, mark my words. /pun intended
I've had the Insanity one in-game for a while (mentioned in post #2) and its quite disappointing. Its thick, broad and looks very heavy. I really like Morrowinds original design for these Greatswords:

Also, I think the concept mentioned above looks more like Stormfang(in terms of hilt at least!)

Not that this is an issue, I do think its worth realizing that.
EDIT: I typed this out before, then saved my message, only to see that I'd posted an empty message. Why?
EDIT2: How is the concept-one going to ever fit in its sheath? :D
I didn't realize the second image was a sheath and thought it was another idea, i went for the second image because the first one would really bump the poly count up and also the difficulty. If you look at other swords in Skyrim and their construction they try and do a lot with a very small budget.
If i do a sheath it will be at a lllllllllaaaattterr point. Also changed the runes to the new ones.
I think overall its better to reimagine the sword since the original sword is a generic model. If you look at the changes they made to the volendrung between the two games its massive.
Hey, I just want to add my suggestion that we try and keep the original design of the Iceblade of the Monarch. It's my favorite sword in the game and I think Bethesda have done a wonderful job in it's unique shape (especially it's length) and design. All of your ideas and reimaginations of this blade are great and it's awesome to see some creative liberties break through.
I would love to see Saivryn's sword in the game, but as it's own uniquely individual sword, instead of as the Iceblade of the Monarch.
I believe it's important to keep in mind that Morrowind is a huge nostalgic trip for many of us here, that's why this renewal project is so exciting. We all want to go back and relive the moments in that game. Many of the items, weapons, armor, characters, landscapes, and sounds have left a deep impression on us.
I would absolutely love to contribute my own work to this project, unfortunately I cannot afford the time alongside my day job. Which is why I went through the trouble of creating an account just to leave this message, and after seeing all of the poor (no offense) iterations of this blade modded into Skyrim.
I have been playing Morrowind again recently after installing a massive overhaul mod that updates just about everything in the game. It's an incredible experience, and I was indeed sad when I found the Iceblade, to find that it had been drastically changed, and not necessarily for the better.
You guys are awesome for contributing to this project out of your own time. I hope these short paragraphs will inspire some ideas and approaches.
