needing concept art for crafting items

Submitted by ScumpunxDave on

basically im looking for concept art to be made and gathered for a large amount of crafting items the items im needing concept for are

forge (based on skyrims mesh), potters wheel, dyeing station, enchanting table, resin workstation and 8 small saint shrines for the professions  much like the shrines in skyrim

the shrines are

llothis the pious saint of Taylors,  dyers

seryn the Merciful, Patron of Brewers, Bakers, Distillers

Delyn the Wise, Patron of Potters and Glass makers

Felms the Bold, is the Patron of Butchers and Fishmongers

Aralor the Penitent was a male dunmer. He was the Patron Saint of tanners and miners

Meris the Peacemaker, is the Patron of Farmers and Laborers

Roris the Martyr, is the Patron of Furnishers and Caravaners

Saint Kaladas, is the Patron of craftsmen and smiths

we do have some concept for the alchemy set but we are missing some and are not sure if Matt DeMino who made them will be back but we still need the alembic concept and a secret master set (ebony)

there may be a few more to come but i think thats all for now

Wow that's very nice concept.
---
However may be better to make less stages, but more interesting and different than diff material.

As for example 1st stage of Mortar and Pestle can be just mortar and pestle, but 3rd can be dwemerish coffee-mill :)
Calcinator and retorts can be advanced with installed burner.
And most advanced retort can be united with alembic.
As that relevant to chemistry i suggest to make advanced stages golden or platinum (because it's so inert).

Also, last stages of progressing can be related to each other as part to the whole.
Ideas can be united so, materials and technology could progressing at once.

I can draw some concepts, but i not have many possibilities to make it so detailed as this. Mostly general shape and mesh.
I need to examine existing animations first.

were sticking to the original items for the alchemy as ive been told and i really like the old way of having better quality equipment but by all means draw up your concept for them

we are using these concepts, end of discussion

this i like it would work really well for the telvanni what do you think about it being more twisted over the corners to soften the edge just seems a bit hard edged atm we could reuse the hard edged version but giving it a different style for the mages guild but all in all i really like it thanks natter

@Natterforme
Interesting style. May be you could add some soulgems stuff and some strict geometry.
---
I wonder how to make some ench. workplace enough universal for Imperial, Telvanni and Ashlands environments.
May be even not like table, more like rack or place on ground.

Simple concept for pottery wheel.

I created alembic set without super duper secret one. I'll do  secret one next as my own design (I don't know even if it is needed, it is only in construction set, but I'll do anyway).

In original concept I don't like using wood in apprentice calcinator and straw base in retort. I know they are only small details but I don't want to have such materials above fire. Maybe instead of these we can use bones or clay (sth incombustible).

I like this in visuals.
But...

> I don't like using wood in apprentice calcinator and straw base in retort.
= and anyone can be poisoned from copper vessel. I worry :)

@lukkar thank you  very much but Matt DeMino came through for us and here they are in all there glory i think the next major thing on the list are these shrines for the saints

Sad that's not about structure, but about material.
If they can make wine bottles from the glass - they can do this for simplest alchemy set.
I think lukkar's variant is better.

Obsidian/ebony looks nice, but weird too - but with some metal details/fusions will be much better
(All protruding parts and connections)
Maybe it could be polished.

Also you can add some Kintsugi:

@alysander I'm even not sure if we ever see obsidian one in game I like this weird look. And about materials I agree.

As someone who grinds down frozen samples a lot with mortar and pestle, that ebony needs to be perfectly smooth on both mortar base and pestle.  Aside from raw ebony, the material is generally depicted as being smooth.

I'm not sure the entire retort and alembic need to be solid ebony either.  Ebony is well complimented with gold, and glass would let the alchemist see what's going on in there. In fact, perhaps even volcanic 'glass' would be fitting. The grand-master stuff looks like it would be good to base secret-master on, just with ebony or 'glass' in place of silver and more elegance.

Of course if the secret master stuff was in CS only, might be beat to just stick with grand-master as the top tier.  That stuff looks fine as it is.

> see obsidian one in game
= this is ebony, but looks like rude-chopped obsidian. First association.

Shrines

lothis the pious saint of Taylors,  dyers

He is the contemporary companion of the Tribunals, and the best-loved Alma Rula of the Tribunal Temple,[2] he formulated the central rituals and principles of the New Temple Faith. Saint Llothis is the symbolic mortal bridge between the gods and the faithful, and the archetypal priest

seryn the Merciful, Patron of Brewers, Bakers, Distillers

She was a pure virgin of modest aspect, who could cure all diseases at the price of taking the disease upon herself.[1] Tough-minded and fearless, she took on the burdens of others, and bore those burdens to an honored old age.[1]

Delyn the Wise, Patron of Potters and Glass makers

Delyn's sainthood teachers benevolence. Delyn was head of House Indoril,[2] a skilled lawyer, and author of many learned treatises on Tribunal law and custom.[3] It is even possible that Delyn had a hand in the Treaty of the Armistice, however this is not confirmed.

Felms the Bold, is the Patron of Butchers and Fishmongers

He was a brave warlord who slew the Nord invaders and drove them from Morrowind.[1] He could neither read nor write, receiving inspiration directly from the lips of Almsivi.[1] The Cleaver of St. Felms, a one handed Axe, was originally used by Felms.

Aralor the Penitent, the Patron Saint of tanners and miners

Aralor was originally a foul criminal, but he repented his sins and traveled a great cicuit of the pilgrimages on his knees.[2] His famed hair shirt is an artifact coveted by the Tribunal Temple.[3]

Meris the Peacemaker, is the Patron of Farmers and Laborers

As a little girl, Saint Meris showed healing gifts, and trained as a Healer. She ended a long and bloody House War,[1] intervening on the battlefield in her white robe to heal warriors and spellcrafters without regard to faction. The troops of all House adopted white robes as her standard, and refused to shed the blood of their brethren.[1]

Roris the Martyr, is the Patron of Furnishers and Caravaners

Roris was captured by Argonians just before the Arnesian War,[1] Roris proudly refused to renounce the Tribunal faith, and withstood the cruel tortures of Argonian sorcerers. Vengeance and justice for the martyred Saint Roris was the rallying cry of the Arnesian War.[1]

Saint Kaladas, is the Patron of craftsmen and smiths

Saint Kaladas was a saint and craftsmen who lived around two centuries after the death of Pelinal Whitestrake.

Kaladas built the Chapel of Zenithar in Leyawiin.

I did some author changes.  I hope it'll work out good. I think now it's more consistent. Of course sketches could have some scratches, older look and so on. This is only concept. To add more live we can add prayers front of the shrines or add some money in donation place. Description could be real text also. Wait for feedback as always.

@lukkar: All are awesome. Just 2 suggestions

1) > Felms the Bold, is the Patron of Butchers and Fishmongers
= i draw some like this. But your is better, you just could make fish (or is it head?) in his hand bigger.

2) > place to donate
= flat, gilded metallic plate/dish can be better, than box.  Where boxes would be really good placed that's in hands of ascets of temple, but not in rich places of pilgrimage.
 =
some inner space in shrine will be good. As a some back door to show some inner structure of shrine or some reliquary in it.
= short description can be with saint's name (and i think it will be in dunmer town-signboard style).
    like that:

Very nice!  The only differences I would make is for Felms, first to have the head of the 'Nord' look more like a Nord, perhaps with a heavy beard, and second to maybe use a different weapon more common to Dunmeri culture.

@Denevir : I haven't enough "free" time now.
---
Also i am trying to get any of my early models to the game. Also i am waiting Ravanna to give me some tricks/lessons on Nest_scrib. I #ure will make it later. #rine paint-edit is'nt reqiring many time and it just some obvious fixes, not so high func#n as creating some creature from clean idea.

@lukkar I love these! I was literally just about to draft up something like that, but yours are just too fab. You've got much better drawing skills that I :)

I had an idea about maybe making a little statuette for each of the saints above, in much the same poses (similar to the Dibella statuettes of Skyrim) which could be placed in appropriate areas, like the specialized shops in the St Olms Canton in Vivec. Yay or nay?

EDIT: Attached is a quick draft sketch of how a St Seryn statuette could look perhaps. Ignore the back view...I'm not the best at 3D drawing :)

@ Smitehammer fixed

@Denevir Working always on landscapes could be quite boring :P

@alysander I used some of your ideas.

Adding text next to name is better but I wanted to create this as separate activator too. I mean if u click on it then text will appear. I will add casket inside which can regenerate content once a week or less. In some shrines I will add surprise like temple guardian or battle rat :)

@Aurabelle No problem but there is so many things which I have to and want to do that it gets very low priority. And again it is quite important to find someone which want to and can model it

@lukkar All good! I understand completely, and the statuettes is something that could be added at the next stage even, just thought I'd sound the idea out while the idea was fresh :). Mm, modellers seem to be in short supply methinks. Maybe when the next stage is in development I'll have learnt how to model it on a computer myself :P

I'm really liking the shrines, but perhaps the donation part could be more of a flat platform without a coin slot, to allow for other offerings than gold. Things like gemstones, or more mundane offerings like ash yams could be offered as well. Scaled down versions of the shrines would be found in areas of some of the crafting stations associated, so doing that would make it seem more personal and less like it is directly taken from one of the temples.

> donation part could be more of a flat platform without a coin slot, to allow for other offerings than gold.
= but churches likes it! I think ideas can be combined though in some golden chest with big round slot on it, and some lowest priest who only watch to not donate stones in dispencer shrine.

@lukkar: thaks for using my ideas / including it. Also i think in general we can stick to the traditional trigonal form of shrine (and maybe some piramidal).

> I will add casket inside which can regenerate content once a week or less
= With my idea of back door it's better to make activator/opening chest inside of shrine.

What I mean is that outside of the temples, individual shrines wouldn't have the donation slot, as they are meant for the purpose of the craftsman to pray to the patron saint of their craft. The same shrines inside of the temples would have the donation box, however.

I think this final solution.

i agree with ice flame sorry should have gone more in depth we need small shrines to be placed around the crafting stations or in the npcs home like the small shrines in skyrim but by all means we still need to have the large shrines for the temples

(edit)great idea for the shrine lukkar

Well, you could use the statuette idea thingy for a representation of the shrines in small crafting stations/NPC homes? They're small-ish and could be easily placed into crafting stations/homes without being unobtrusive.

@lukkar: yeah. That's the best solutions.

@scumpunx: > we need small shrines to be placed around the crafting stations or in the npcs home like the small shrines in skyrim but by all means we still need to have the large shrines for the temples
= (if you want to go further) : small shrines can be made different from big one, as shitty-reproduction style (black inks and white paper/cloth looking like made through a stencil) or as casted metal style (with metallic protruding sufaces and oxidized valleys). Also team can make amulets in this style.

@Aurabelle Yeah but if u want little statues to buy as souvenir you can't have sth like this is as shrine. The best solution is different variations of this same design. And even I u want to do that u have a bit mess in gameplay (pick/use/etc).

@alysander For space reason we can embed in wall the smallest version (We can do even smaller only with presentation of saint) in some cases. I think we should use consistent design that in every situation u know what shrine is or what is not (I mean used materials). But I like idea with shitty-reproduction style. The smallest could be fuzzy, faint and etc on the other hand temple ones could be top quality.
