Newest creature: Nix Hound: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wUevZcnT70
Hi all! I'm contributing creature SFX to Skywind. I'll be posting links to soundcloud uploads, and would appreciate hearing any feedback you have. Once I'm able to, I'll also post gameplay footage of the creatures implemented in-game. It'd be great to get peoples' feedback, so that I can iterate before submitting for integration. I will update the thread title when I submit a new creature, and move it to the top of the list for easy viewing.
Unless otherwise mentioned, all sounds are grouped by type, with a few variations on each type, according to the following scheme:
Conscious Loops / Long Idles
Short Idles / One-Offs
Aware / Player Detect
Attack
Damaged
Death
(we'll probably need to add movement, footstep, random one-offs, etc. once the models are ready for in-game implementation)
Previous Creatures
Clannfear: https://soundcloud.com/jaegrover/clannfear-v1
Guar: https://soundcloud.com/jaegrover/skywind-sfx-creatures-guar
Alit: https://soundcloud.com/jaegrover/skywind-sfx-creatures-alit

the alit is a little too electronic sounding in my opinion guar sounds really good tho also try to keep all of you sfx files under the same post so theres not 1001 posts flying around as im sure your aware theres allot of them to be done :) any way keep up the good work looking forward to hearing some more
Thanks for the feedback! A friend of mine also agrees that the alit sounds a bit too robotic/electronic. I'm going to do a second pass within the next few days and attempt to remove some of the synthetic elements. In the meantime, did one element in particular stand out as being robotic, e.g. the low gurgles or the mid-range 'roar?'
Also, I'm not sure how to delete my other thread, but I left a comment, and will just post my future creature SFX for review here to avoid cluttering up the subforum. Mods, please delete the other thread if you like :D
Best,
-JG
the first 3 and the last 3 allso would it be possible to have a bit more of a variation between each of the sounds like the 3 warning sound very smiler but over all i like it
Absolutely! Thanks for the feedback, I will work that into my next iteration.
Bumping for Clannfear SFX, input / feedback appreciated!
There should be a difference between Daedroth and Clannfear. Deep crocodilian growls and hisses for Daedroth, maybe more of a ring wraith screech for clannfear?
^ i think the clanfear sfx are great.
Daedroth is more demonic (pst, i may aime to redo the daedroth <.<) so i would hint at something far more terrifying.
Ah, I didn't notice the sound in the first post! Yeah, those are great. Shrieks are very nice, and the Jurassic Park raptor purrs too.
Glad you like them! :D I agree on the direction for the Daedroth, btw. I think it will be challenging to make him sound reptilian, yet not too much like the Alit... I might tweak the Alit based on how the Daedroth comes out. I'll definitetly keep the "Demonic" descriptor in mind when doing it. Up next: Dreugh! Then Daedroth probs
Added nix hound
nix hound is ideal.
After seeing these creatures upclose and personal, i hope we can run through all creature's animations and clean them up.
and damn that clanfear needs some retexturing.
can someone made canine-like whine with creature dying (if there is such animation, idk) or fleeing?
vanilla skyrim behavior dont gives feeling of creatures is real.

That is an AI issue and sadly not related to sound. There'll need to be animation added for that too. Might need to be improvements delved upon post-1.0. release.
Also those Nix-Hound sounds are spot-on. So much better than the original - from an audio perspective I can barely hear it sound like anything else now!
Yep, these Nix are just spot on! Probably just what everyone had in mind ;)
Jaeg u may want to post each new sfx in a separate reply box, so u attain the karma u deserve, sfx being one of our achille's heels before u showed up.
Love these sounds, the Guar and Nix are perfect, but I feel the Ash Ghoul could do with some of these eerie whisper noises like in the original Morrowind, that could help it have a touch of magic and enchantment about them.
Like have them guttural, just as a strange background noise in their voice, might give them another layer of depth.
Thanks for the feedback everyone :D
@Talfox, I totally agree. I am working on redoing the Ash Ghoul now. We've had the very talented Matt Rini do some excellent VO recording, and I am just adding a little processing as frosting on the cake. The ash ghoul was my first experimental foray into sound design for Skywind, and now that I've got my processes worked out, I'm happily redoing him from scratch :p
For the Ash Ghoul I would suggest taking out the animal like growls and groans, and make everything a deadly whisper, with guttural throat just hinted at.
@Yours Truly, Agreed! I'll post the new version soon to see what you guys think :)
