Morroblivion Crashes on new game

Submitted by aounfathr on

Hi all,

So I went through and followed the instructions to the letter.  then I watched the videos and made sure I had done everything exactly like it said.  My load order is exactly what is shown in the video (part 3).  Yet when I open oblivion and try to start a new game it gets through the emperor's speech and crashes as soon as I get to character creation.  I get a glimpse of the generic characters face on the boat then CTD.

I'm running xp with morrowind in steam on C and oblivion on my D drive.  Would that make a difference?  Wanna know because I really would like to play this.

Thanks,

Aounfather

Does it still crash if you disable morrowind_ob.esm in Bash?  If so, then the problem is something with Oblivion in general (google will help you there).

Well I was going to say no it doesn't but in the meantime I reinstalled everything and now it works!  The problem was that when I installed Oblivion it just went d/games instead of d/games/oblivion.  Since I changed it and created a folder now it works.

Still having a problem with peoples torsos and legs missing with a giant yellow blob that says WTF I'm missing a Mesh or something like that.  Any idea how I can fix that?  I'm guessing a reinstall of the morroblivion mod and making sure it has all the files.  Is it easy to uninstall with Bash or do I need to do another full reinstall?

Thanks,

Yes, right-click on the mod in the installers tab in Bash and choose "uninstall".  Then make sure you've got all the files that make up Morroblivion and Vvardenfell imports in the correct folders in your "bash installers" sub-folder, and then open Bash again and install the mods...

Ok tried that but still had the same problem.  Maybe I'm moving the folders in wrong.  I'm supposed to go 1,2,3 and extract them each into the same folder so that the data folders overwrite each other correct?

Make sure that you have installed Vvardenfell Imports correctly, those meshes are not included in Morroblivion main install.

Links to TES NEXUS might have caused you to download Vvardenfel Import PATCHES rather than IMPORTS themselves. I've done that mistake when I downloaded, seen other people doing it so...

Ok, solved it.  The problem was I was doing addons before patches.  Did it the other way around and now the people have bodies and legs.  Can't wait to play through this.

Bash still shows a conflict between Imports and Morroblivion.  Its the Meshes\Armor\Daedric Lord\m\cuirass.nif.  It shows higher in morroblivion than imports.  Is this a problem?

Edit:

I'm getting CTDs whenever I approach NW of Seyda Neen.  Happens every time I go near there.  Going to try just avoiding it and see if its just there.

I don't know what a CTD is. If it is crashing send your save to David Budreck or Hashmi. They are tracking down crashes.

CTD = Crash To Desktop = the game quits unexpectedly

David is currently requesting crashy saves to debug this problem, see this thread:

O'k I'll find the exact point and send him some saves.  I found that it is an exact area and I can avoid it but this makes the Missing Tax Collector quest unplayable.

Another question, if you want to use the dev console do you use morrowind or oblivion codes?

Thanks,

You have to use Oblivion console codes and quest-object IDs of morrowind won't work on Morroblivion.

Thank You, so...can I spawn 100 grandmaster armorer's hammers?

Also, I'm trying to get the sounds and music over from morrowind as they are part of the atmosphere.  I got he music to go over without a hitch but the sounds I'm not comfortable working with.

Is there a way to get the Silt Striders sound effects to play during the game or is that too much to ask?

Thanks,

Hmmm...waht I was realy interested in is the "other" atmospheric noises of morrowind that were tied to individual sites like the silt srider sound effect that you can hear in the immediate vicinity of a town that has one stationed there.  The modders have done a woderful job of getting the tombs and dust sound effects in I was just wondering about the other.

I moved the music files myself, been doing that for a while with TES games, so no worries there.  Just wanted to know if anyone knew what I could do to implement the sound effects and location specific noises.

Oh, also, if morroblivion uses the oblivion item codes how are the items that are so lovingly placed around the world that are unique to morrowind placed and can I spawn something specific to morrowind like a Daedric Tower Shield or Secretmaster Armorer's Hammer or Kagouti Hide in morroblivion?

Thanks
