Hi all
I just discovered this amazing project and I just wanted to offer you some feedback. What you're doing here is nothing short of amazing. These two games are legendary in their own right and for you to be painstakingly trawling through all this stuff to mesh them together has brought a new breath of life to MW.
I'm new to MW, having only really been exposed to Oblivion (for years I've been playing FPSs because I never liked RPGs, but the tide changed with Oblivion...) so to have these two together as one seemless world is just amazing. I mean, really effing amazing guys.
I just wish I could help, but alas my background is in video production and broadcasting. If I was to offer any advice it may be to simplify your installation instructions to something like this:
Get the user to compile all the downloads into one folder, with links supplied on download page. Once folder is full of the zip files, go through each step of installing but instead of putting all the "data" files straight into the Oblivion data files folder, simply have the user combine all the new textures IN ORDER, in a temporary directory then get them to copy over THAT folder to merge with Oblivions. This will hopefully shrink the install instructions to essentially be: 1) download these files 2) make a temporary Data folder 3) run the zip files in this order....(including details on which zip file to extract to temporary data folder, and which programs to install) 4) take the newly created Data folder and merge with Oblivion's install directory.
On a side note, I realise that the whole project has a disclaimer about using game altering mods in Morroblivion - however one thing that's always KILLED me with these games is the level cap - so I installed two mods: Legendary Skills and Legendary Mastery, (which come as one package) and Kobu's Character Advancement system....However playing the game for about 3 hours I hadn't levelled up once - meaning the mod probably destroyed the level system for me. Insights on this please? Uninstall the mod being the obvious choice, but I really don't want to do all of Morrowind only to cap off my levelling before I get to go back to Oblivion...any advice on this?
lastly, thanks once again for your amazing amazing work on this project. It's beyond cool, it's totally legendary and I'll be following with great interest your progress on this stunning project. Thanks to all who have gotten involved to bring this JOY to my desktop!
much love!
Symph

welcome
1) Everyone seems to have suggestions for streamlining the installation process. :D The reason that it is not set up as you described is because a) you should be installing mods with Wrye Bash or Oblivion Mod Manager, NOT copying the files to \Oblivion\Data\ and b) it would require us to repackage other people's mod files (see the FAQ)
2) I don't know how those mods work, but are you sure you gained enough skill advances in your three hours of playing to actually level up? Whether or not a mod will still work in the Morrowind worldspace will depend on how it is designed. If your levelelling mods rely on content that is NOT in the morrowind worldspace then they won't work. For example, if they give you "XP" for killing creatures, then you won't get any XP for killing Morrowind creatures because they are not recognized by your levelling mod. Again, I have no idea how your leveling mods work...
