Try to avoid making it look too hot/subtropical ;) West Gash is a moderate region, as the whole Vvardenfell. Probably will have to be done via colour hints later.
Honestly, too much rocks for my taste, prefer to have more plains there. Also weird that they are of different colors.
But it is only my opinion.
you can have some busy areas in the south, but mostly its more plains.
North becomes deep steep valleys between tall cliffs and arches, with a patch of west gash oak/corkbulb forest here and there.
It may look tropical now, but after we do our new trees, and add proper weather, it wont be an issue.
I'll keep that in mind, this is one of the few busier areas because it's within a canyon, but the majority of the area will be more plains. I'll also look into ways to make it feel less tropical other than what Ravanna mentioned. I do think it is possible to keep the coloration while avoiding a tropical feel, though, as red rocks aren't exclusive to tropical weather:
I know they're not, but they always feel warm :P This photo looks like a paradox of snow in a desert. Which it probably is, since some deserts are cold.
Nice, but less, much less arcs please. That mesh is very distinctive and looks repetitive when used a lot. Try to use those columns but at different angles and scales like if they have fallen.
Also waterfalls should be sensible, I have a feeling that the one on the last screenshot is out of place, but hard to judge only from a single view.
As far as water falls, I was thinking that we could have hot springs and geysers as the sources.

I'm making a source for the waterfall, and I removed some of the arches.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I could call this cave?

Mausol Grotto?
Mausovaul Grotto?
Mausolvau Grotto?
Mausol coming from mausoleum, vaul coming from vault, and grotto coming from cavern. I figure it's a dunmer, tongue-in-cheek joke, as the cavern is actually the source of water, a source of life.
If you'd like a more dunmeri name, here are a few:
Telshahr Drahad'ag = until, have died
Ouajid Daelkhun= to drink [of the] heart
Lournad = to rest, to weep
Molkadish Merdishk = cave palace
Re’aldis Oua = slow water
Or, if you'd like it to be named after a particular dunmeri patron:
Veloth Lournad = Veloth's rest
Seryn Lourif = Saint Seryn's tear (St. Seryn was the patron of distillery and brewery, which should vaguely tie into the whole spring motif)
I think I'll go with Ouajehrlas, which means water's edge.
I've been working on making a smoother transition into the Ashlands:

leave some room for extra ground assets in the area leading to aldruhn. Heres some stuff i have planned.

I've done fast sketchez, maybe they are not overwhelming beauty but we can see what is going on.

= That's quite adequate opinion. I am really agree with it.
Some volcanic activity and other things
Some of these are actually in the north, Nahlo and I temporarily switched esp's a little while ago.

[External image]One thing I feel needs attention is placement of vegetation. With as many rocks as are being put down, the soil does not appear deep enough to support a lot of these trees. Clear your self areas of 'deep soil' for placement of these trees and flowers, and remember that seeds are more likely to sprout on flat or in low areas rather than at the top of rocky crests.
@iceflame
> trees
= IMHO you could use more aboriginal plants instead of classical trees: such as Bittergreen on your screenshot - you can place it in several dense groups (7-12 plants in each group), to create more biome variety.
@alysander cool idea for north
---------
what about stone pillar like that as local viewpoint?

Nice idea, I'll add some lookout points, a big spire like that will likely be added in or near the Ashlands. Anyway, I've been working on changing the grass type to better match the concept art for the southern West Gash, with wildflowers:

It's lookin' good. I dig it. Plus that concept for the road to Aldruhn that Ravanna posted looks pretty damn cool. Can't wait to see how that looks like in-game.

Nice to see something different besides rocks.
Looks very different from Morrowind's West Gash but it looks really nice.
"I'm doing the southern areas and Nahlos working on the northern ones." Didn't someone already do Northern West Gash?
LA Sentry was working on it, but that was never finished. Also, there is always more work to be done to improve on landscapes.
Here's some updated screenshots, although I am still getting the black screen glitch, which is preventing me from taking screenshots of the most recent area I have worked on in game.

Ice Flame type kill all in the area where you get the black screen, that should fix your issue.

It's a bit strange to see
It's a bit strange to see such big trees growing on hard rock surfaces (pic 2), but I am sure you have a good vision for the area :)
