I don't know about everyone

I don't know about everyone else but I"m personally liking the design. Just make sure you make it a bit more faded and not so colorful in the end or it will look really out of place.

I'm with drago. The colors

I'm with drago. The colors are great and people should stop complaining. There are more important things to be done than arguing over the dash color of an armor.

@eXecutex Cool but try them

@eXecutex Cool but try them desaturate a bit. They are just too flashy compare to MW.

The battlemage should be

The battlemage should be purple like in the concept art. It suits him much better. Purple is the colour of magic and it's similar enough to red for them to still fit into the whole red legions thing. The red and blue battlemage looks like a jester but maybe that's just because the colours are so bright. I prefer the concept art but if the final brightness and saturation looks less jester-ish then it'll be perfectly fine and almost as good as the art.

@Vivec I hate to interject in

@Vivec I hate to interject in a conversation that doesn't involve me, but... Look, I'm glad you feel comfortable to voice your opinion, but please don't instigate the devs. You could very well be banned for responding that way, whether or not you were provoked (calling someone a "neo-nazi" isn't good etiquette anywhere - real life, internet life, etc.).

Not only that, they'll take these forums to the "dev only" section of the site. The threat was made earlier in this thread and trust me when I say Dragomir means what he says. Don't do anything to ruin it for the rest of us.

Now let's keep this thread on track and keep it focused on the work being done. There's been lots of opinions thrown around about the color of the armor and it's sort of a dead horse, anyway. Let's just wait to see the end product. Heck, I don't even think the model is baked or finished yet, which means it will look quite different once completed.

And Jorgen, for the Swaróg's sake, I thought you knew anything about history. Have you ever seen what soldiers in old times, and knights especially would wear? ABUNDANCE OF COLOUR. In all freaking ages.

Yes, I understand, but that doesn't mean a modern game has to follow that example.
To clarify my issue with these colors:  Red and blue could work together, but they're placement in this just doesn't come out looking good in my opinion.  I think a lot of that has to do with the black chest piece now being gone, exposing the red of the shirt under the drape, and the hood being changed from white to the same blue as the drape.
However I also think the look will vastly improve once it is desaturated some and exposed to lighting in game.
And while I understand your frustration with what may be going on in other threads, Drago, this is the first time in this thread that you or any of the Devs have mentioned the color.

Everyone seems to be on edge here lately, I don't know what the deal is, but I think we should all just take a moment to chill out.  It's a game, the armors can easily be edited for personal use, let's not get into some internet rage-fest over some imaginary armor.

"What you thought" has been

"What you thought" has been said and rejected multiple times already in this thread. It adds nothing except for even more spam in that already murdered thread. If you really can't stand the red just mod the texture when you install Skywind and (I say it for the third time now) cut this fruitless discussion.

Just get over that colour scheme. There's no way to make everyone happy. Each wants something else. Just let it go. I don't have time for this.

I still see no connection.

I still see no connection. Nazi swastika has nothing to do with that symbol which is from a 1500 years old Slavic burial urn, and was closely connected to the cult of nature, seasons and sun.

You are clearly misinformed - the Nazi swastika is tilted 45 degrees, facing other way around, black in a white circle on red.

Swastika has been used for more than 5000 years as a sun and luck symbol, and to this day it is used as a symbol of buddhism and hinduism.

Now stop the spam.

I can't wait to see this

I can't wait to see this armor in game, this is way cooler than any of the imperial armor in vanilla skyrim. Also, it looks like the armor would fit in well with Skyblivion.

^the dude. hah, but i gotta comment on all the recent progress on this thread.  My only concern now is the color scheme which is really personal preference, but also a decision about what kind of mod this is.  Whether this is a more faithful recreation or whatever we want should be reflected in every creative decision.

My preference is one color or the other and I would prefer purple as shown in the concept originally posted.  Purple cloth was featured in the original game.  There are also time and regional differences that could account for the difference in color, but I cant definitively comment, because I'm not the most informed on issues of elderscrolls lore.

Entirely different models should be made for Cyrodiil where necessary rather than bastardized recreations of each and (imo) Morrowind, the larger section, should take priority else this thing never get properly finished..  I really only see this as unwanted influence of the other mod group.  Is the Cyrodiil project going to determine art direction of even more assets for Skywind now?

Is it really the Cyrodiil project affecting this? I thought the whole red colour thing came from some guy quoting "Red Legions" and so it was made red rather than concept purple to match that.

If this isn't being used for

If the imperial armor set isn't being used for both mods the color should be purple and the original concept closely followed.  Use red under leaders' gold heavy armor and purple robe under the chrome and leather armor as seen in the original game.

I think this is a decision important enough to ask around for more input from lore informed people.  Simply because there is one reference to the "Red Legion" does not definitely mean their robes should have red.  If they were red, and purple was a massive oversight, they should be all red.  I'd still prefer purple robe on the imperials to match the vanilla game regardless.

I was to write a big

I was to write a big explanation with links to articles on why the Imperial Legion should be red, and why was the original armour from Morrowind (one that Fredrik unfortunately copied since we didn't have access to good lore at the time) wrong in many ways... But I'm not going to waste any more time on this.

I can see how some people

I can see how some people would be put off by the clashing colours, but altogether it's a really nice model and I can live with the colour scheme. In fact, I think it will make Imperial battlemages quite iconic.

For you that know the roman

For you that know the roman Praetorian Guard (armor as shown in the picture) that was like a Elite Guard/Police in ancient Rome. Maybe these Imperial Battlemages could be colored blue and without the red, or at least a suggestion. In Oblivion they wore blue mage hoods, so maybe blue is a good color for them I figured, and they will stand out among the other Imperial Guard and Legions types of armors, which they maybe should since they are a more powerfull than the regular Imperial Legionnaire and Guard. Just my thoughts about it. :)

Preatorian Guard wearing

Preatorian Guard wearing purple clothes/tunics/cloaks with blued steel is more ore less the pinnacle of holyywoodation of the roman empire and has no no real word foundation. the purple dye was one the the most precious communities in the classic world and was even according to some texts reserved only to be used by the emperor himself. Some sources also describe that wealthy senior senators wore a single purple strip at the side of their toga.

From Wikipedia:

Tyrian purple is a purple dye made in the ancient Phoenician city of Tyre from a secretion of Spiny Dye-Murex (Murex brandaris), a marine snail. A similar dye, "Hyacinth Purple" was made from the related Banded Dye-Murex Murex trunculus.

The dye was expensive: Aristotle assigns a value ten to twenty times its weight in gold! The fast, non-fading dye was an item of luxury trade, prized by Romans, who used it to colour ceremonial robesPliny the Elder described the dyeing process of two purples in his Natural History. The Roman mythographer Julius Pollux, writing in the second century CE, asserted (Onomasticon I, 45—49) that the purple dye was first discovered by Heracles, or rather, by his dog, whose mouth was stained purple from chewing on snails along the coast of the Levant.

The guard moved in size from 1000 men to 16000 in it's history. It's a tad bit unrealistic to imagine all of them clad in purple.

As for the blued steel, that was something that only came in fashion during the high to late middle ages.

Something to note here though, is that Elder Scrolls isn't real life, it's fantasy.  Magic exist, as well as strange and fantastical alchemical ingredients, so there's no reason to suspect that they wouldn't be able to dye things purple, or any other color for that matter, cheaply and easily.  Furthermore, despite the obvious Roman influence on the Imperials, the world itself is more inspired by the Middle Ages and Renaissance, so I don't think blued steel would be out of the question.  From what I gather one idea that was being tossed around for Dunmer Steel Armor was blued steel, so as to make it more like Ebony in appearance.

Sorry, guys looks like the decision has been made and no amount of discussion will changes that. I'll admit this thread could of been handled on both sides but what done is done so can we please move on. If people are still upset when Skywind is officially released I will boot up photoshop and personally make a texture replacer to make the cloth purple. Thats all I can offer you guys take it or leave it, all I ask is that we move on please .

I know that Elder Scrolls is fantasy, and real life acts as an inspiration, not foundation. I just wanted to clear that misconception of the purple preatorians.

I for one really like how the mage armor looks :D. That mothbelt.

This may sound silly, but are any cloaks planned to get along these armors ?

I really don't see why the Battlemage couldn't be purple while normal Legionaries are red.  The legions could still be "Red Legions" without having to do some weird blue over red color scheme for Battlemages.  They are a sort of special forces anyway, why couldn't they have a special uniform?

Guys, if you don't like the color scheme, it's not a problem, it can be easily changed, why is all this raging in here. It's not necessary. Simply, I can tell Rav or some oder from the devs: here, take it, change it if you want, it's up to you how it'll look in the game.

Anyway, for you guys, here's a little beauty shot of the imperial boots and gauntlets. I hope you'll like it :)
