Cephalopod Helmet, and a thingum

Up next on my magical chitin tour is the Cephalopod Helmet. It is DONE and only needs morph targets and importing:

TA-DA!

I figured, since most of the leg work was done, why not build it up a bit and make a sea creature out of it? So I did.

TA-DA!!!!

Now I need a little help. I can't name things. That is not in the realm of my abilities, and we can't just call it Cephalopod. It's boring, lame, and inaccurate. So please, please, please. Help me give this little guy a name. If we can't come up with a name, he ain't going in game. Just post whatever you got and I'll pick my favorite.

Also, YES, I will be making the mantle from Dragomir's awesome concept to match.

It would make more sense to

It would make more sense to have a more Arabic or Urdu sounding name than Greek. Dunmeri phonology has little in common with Greek.

Why not use the Dunmeri

Why not use the Dunmeri dictionary at our disposal?  I've been making a lot of changes to it, and it's not perfect, but itbwould add an extra bit of 'authenticity'.

Ouashavish - water insect

Or we could go after something based on its appearance.  For instance 'kabuto' is the Japanese word for helmet and what they call horseshoe crabs.

Close; they're called カブトガニ or kabutogani. Literally meaning helmet-crab.
And "kabuto" today usually means traditional helmets. Modern helmets, like for motorcycles, are just called helmets.

On topic: I think using a Dunmeri word sounds interesting, but I can see how it might confuse or put people off.

I don't think it will put

I don't think it will put people off to have a Dunmer name. They aren't put off with the cities, or food and drink having Dunmer names. I quite like the idea, and it's good to have that handy resource. Fury_on said the mouth bits were for sucking the juices from fish, so I came up with a couple using the dictionary. Pardon my poor use of the Dunmer language.

Uduridsho- Stabbing head (I think I like the sound of this one the most.)

Molkunshavish- Blood Bug

Ouakadfredsho- Swimming Helmet (its too long, but appropriate)

Uripshavish-Bladed insect

Any of those sound good?

@Smite- Thank you for the awesome dictionary. I upkarma'd you again. I don't know who down karma's you in every post, but they should stop. I especially don't like it in my threads. Whoever you are, cut it out.

Maybe name it after its role

Maybe name it after its role in the environment?

Looks like it would maybe be some kind of shallow water parasite thing or filter feeder maybe.

Maybe call it an Ascadian Leachbeetle?

That'd be a bit too on-the-nose though...

Siltsticker? Like something they have to pry off of Silt striders legs after they've been through infested waters?

That could be cool.

Personally, I'm not a fan of

Personally, I'm not a fan of that particular Dunmer language as it doesn't really fit the aesthetic displayed in the known words. That said, if you guys want to use it I don't mind. I'd recommend basing the name off other native styles (Gah-Julan, Amun-An, Chuezi).

If I could suggest something,

If I could suggest something, why not make the purple part on the creature the same color as the rest of it, so as to make the purple on the helm seem painted on? This is really good work, but I don't think the Dunmer would just pick the things legs off and slap it's corpse on their head without adding some kind of flair.

Move this back to unclaimed.

Move this back to unclaimed. This model will be released in an upcoming independent mod released long before Skywind.
