Another Easter Egg Suggestion

Submitted by Walroid on

Hey all,

Due to time restraints I have been unable to contribute to the Skywind project in any major way but being as big a fan of the series as I am, If I don't at least throw out some ideas I will really regret not at least trying to contribute. I realize that Easter Eggs are very very low on the priority list of things that need to get done but what the hay, I might as well put some ideas up for anybody that wants them. With the creation of new NPC's and the recording of voices to make Skywind feel more alive, I thought it would be a fun idea to include some of the things that have become iconic to the series since the release of Morrowind. I don't of course mean breaking lore. Specifically I was thinking about the things NPC's have said that have become well known in the community. I don't just mean the Arrow to the Knee (I know most of your minds jumped there) but I mean things like a guard yelling “STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM!” or during battle hearing “I'VE FOUGHT MUDCRABS MORE FEARSOME THAN YOU!”. Or we could have references to things that we have heard over and over for instance, in reference to the Skyrim guard we could have someone saying in a conversation the player overhears “would you believe it! They stole my sweetrole... AGAIN!”. Just little things that would make no difference to an inexperienced player but all the difference to those who have spent countless hours wanting to kill the adoring fan or some sarcastic city guard, or shivering every time Lucien Lachance references how soundly we sleep for a murderer. Just a thought I had.

Yeah its a good idea, But generally we are just remaking Morrowind, Although these would be fun I don't feel that the fit in very well, maybe the imperial guards could say those quotes, not the native Dunmer. Sweet rolls don't really exist in Morrowind, I also feel that the things the guards say are already good enough, plus TES games usually don't include Easter eggs. Its not my place to decide really, but I don't belive we need Easter eggs. Also each game had its own feel, We really don't want to take away from the original feel of Morrowind.

Thanks! I really appreciate the feedback. Just a few quick comments: to say that TES games don't have easter eggs would be a misjudgment: http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Easter_Eggs

Also, there are already other threads regarding easter eggs being thrown in and When I bring up the lines that would be fun to add, I would only hope that they would be matched appropriately. The imperial guard would of course say the lines of the Imperial City guard and the mudcrab line would only be said a few times. Not nearly as much as the vanilla comments, just some filler to catch the ear of the player that could be thrown in with all the new original stuff being written: https://tesrenewal.com/forums/quests-and-npcs/npc-idle-conversations-writers-needed

Then yeah it could be fun, They can get annoying if over used through, I guess it may work. I will check and see if we could add the lines later. Just we don't want to seem as if we are just stealing quotes from oblivion because we have nothing else for the guards to say, Yah know? It might be possible I will get back to you later with any results I can get.

... plus TES games usually don't include Easter eggs ...

Actually, not true. There are lots of little easter eggs... Fishy sticks, the corpse of Indiana Jones in a wayward tomb, the BanHammer, Pokemon references aplenty, quite a few Star Trek references... And those are just in Morrowind, and there are plenty more!

All in all, although I agree that these aren't a priority, easter eggs to other TES games is a far cry to some of the stuff Bethesda put into Morrowind. :)

Erm, Ma'ik? Veloth in Skyrim, The Sword in a Rock, etc. There's a lot of Easter Eggs in Skyrim. And, aswell in other Tes games, Just pointing out the skyrim ones.

Feel free to make it happen!

Of course, the emphasis on "make" part. A wise man once said, "Ideas are good, but implementation is better."

Yeah, sorry. I forgot about the refrences I usually dont find that many, I focus on the lore.
