Morrowind/Morroblivion Housing

Submitted by aBaDmAn91 on

Hey

I'm just wondering... Hows the housing thingy in Morrowind?
Is it like: Kill the house owner, take over that house?
Does this follow up in Morroblivion? :p

I really need to get some of my equipment and items in a chest :)

There are two "houses" you can acquire in Morrowind. Caius gives his room to you when he leaves, and I have made the place a functional player home when he is gone. The other is one of the "Manors" you build when you join of one of the Great Houses. After that, somebody would need to make a mod. John 117 said he made one in Seyda Neen, but he never released it.

OK :) thank you

There are several homes that become unoccupied through a quest, and which you could move into, but you would need to check to see if those containers are safe for storage (whether or not they respawn)

It seems that adjusting the quests so that ownership of these homes(and enclosed beds and containers) are switched to the player once unoccupied would be a good idea... I have already taken a step in this direction with the Hlaalo Manor in Balmora by having the corpse be removed and the housekeeper return to a regular schedule after the murder is solved.

Though if you just want a reliable chest and a place to sleep, I have to say I'm a big fan of this camping mod.  It's not integrated with Morroblivion, so you'd have to make a trip to Cyrodiil to get a tent, but it's still pretty cool.

None of the containers in Morrowind respawn. Thermador is systematically setting cell ownership so eventually it will be impossible to move into an unmoded house without stealing every time you put someting into a container. I had always thought that doing what Henshu suggests, and passing "ownership" to the player should be part of the game in several places, but it's not, so we would need a mod from somebody to do this. Although, I am certainly not against integrating such a mod if it is done in a way that makes total sense and that most people would agree is a good thing. However, I don't think everybody would agree that taking over a murdered man's manor would be the right choice, so maybe a mod would be the better way to go, since nobody could compain about a mod because that's what mods do.

Heh, well that's good to know.

I released one on tesnexus, my name on there is Nicholas Griffith2, but all my mods on there are based on the old master file before David Came and created a more stable version of Morroblivion.esm.   I'll make a house, but i need a good location that will blend in with everything. So give me some ideas.

John has reposted his Seyda Neen house on Nexus. I have a link to it on the Project Release page. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=31731

I am going to edit this house and make it awesome. If i have permission i will upload it.

Brutal, just make a new one somewhere; don't edit John's. There are lots of places that could use a home... Suran, Ald-Ruhn, Sadrith Mora, Vos, etc., etc. It would be much better to just start a new mod of your own. Pick a local house if you need a starting point, duplicate the cell, and then edit that...

I agree with David, i'm planning on making houses in major towns/important places

What my Dream has always been, is that we would someday get to this point... where people actually start making mods for Morroblivon. Then, for somebody to make a mod that adds player homes to all the major cities, with quests and upgrades like Oblivion...

If you ask me you two can work together and release a mod that actually lets you BUY houses. For ex: In Balmora from Council Manor, in Ald'Ruhn form Ald Skar Redoran Council Hall so on... You can do it similar to Oblivion; or you can just put an NPC near the house and you should talk to him buy a house, but I think you definitely should make us buy them, not directly setting owenership to us.

I plan on starting on a mod that'll add a few houses and maybe some quests, its hard for me to do quest with a vista but i'll see what i can do.

Ok David. I will make a  house near Vivic.

My all time Favorite Morrowind House Mod.

A Good Place To Stay:

To me this is the one by which all player homes would be judged. Supremely functional, Good Location, Unlikely to conflict with other mods. All the amenities, Fits in perfectly with the game world. All it was missing was a quest.

And this was my favorite though it felt a little over the top in places (the teleportation chamber felt like a definite cheat, though by the end of the MQ I rationalized it as a fitting reward for the Nerevarine), it was definitely eye candy:

In addition to the visual feast it had the virtue of being a pure interior so no conflicts. I've been trying for days now to figure out how to convert it.

If I can get a little better at the nuts and bolts of modding for Morroblivion I'd be game for helping with a Vvardenfell-wide housing for heroes effort...though maybe NPC AI/Conversation/Training is more important, and maybe easier to do in TESCS...it would just be nice to have a homebase (or two)...its one of the things I missed about giving up my alternate beginnings mod when I upgraded Oblivion to Morroblivion and had to add Thermadors Chargen...no swanky house to start in :(

I made a few houses but, whenever i try to make a quest th CS crashes, any ideas to fix this,  ( I'm running Vista SP2), please give some feedback so i can release something.

Exactly where does it crash? and when? Make sure your CS is the latest version, and that your game is patched to the latest version. A simple thing like that may be what's doing it.

I decided to make a house in Seydna neen that looks like a Vivec District. Thing is, the camera is too hard for me. D: It was a good idea though...

I don't know what you mean by "the camera is too hard for me."

The way it navigates is so frusterating. I spent ten minutes trying to copy a vivic district and all its doors.

Kia Ora

the Abu Manor v.2. Mannor was an awsome mod if it could be converted and is central

in Ald-Ruhn very lush tho for those who just like camp beds it'd be over the top

@Brutal

thats a big house Brutal if your trying to copy the whole of Vivic, one canton is massive and would cover most

of the village,.. maybe your better to copy the rooms of an interior cell and make a smaller dorway with a cave or

tomb entrance to them,. or use a Hlaalu stairway and bulding from as a cover, the Hlaalu is not totaly un matched

to the Canton interior and would be much less intursive on the landscape for you.

I know this because I downloaded the Lands end Mod off Oblivion Realistate whch is a beautiful Island that has been landscaped

only and used a buch of esm's like silgrad tower MorroBlivion etc as assets and started dropping settlemnts all over it by loading those worldspaces and sooming out a bit selecting the item useing the CTRL Key (took) an age to deselect the door markers and NPC's etc I had to do Vivic in three parts,. this is for my experance only BTW and is not being released at all mTES4 is a nice util

that makes it possible to clone installs so I can switch between games

It looks like there are four rugs in the house. The two main carpets appear to be covering two other carpets that have been rotated 90 degrees. This is causing flickering around the edges of the carpets (the tassels). A great mod, but a little bit odd that the carpets look like they are about to fly away, LOL :)

Is there an easy way to remove the bottom rugs or pass this on to the author to look in to? Or am I missing the mark here and it's something else altogether that is causing the flickering?

Edit: I am refering to the Seyda Neen Home btw. Guess I should have specified that first :) duh. Feel free to kick this over to the Mods section if it should not be here.

Will you be able to fast travel to say, the home you mkae with the Telvani quest line? Loved that rower in Morrowind.

Any update on the fast travel question above? I am going through the forums here and haven't found a definite answer on fast travel in the MorrOB domain.

You can fast travel back and forth between any place you discover, just like in Oblivion. So yes, you can fast travel back and forth to your manor once you've discovered its location.
