I taunted the Dremora into attacking me. Activated the stone. Received the blessing from the stone. But the quest hasn't advanced past the stage of having successfully taunted the dremora into attacking me.
I haven't used the console to advance this or any other quest since I've heard that is a bad idea. But does anyone have a solution?

I've found OnDeath blocks to sometimes be very unreliable. Try clicking on the rock in the console and type SV. Then tell us what it says. To fix it you might click on the rock in the console and type in set dremora to 1 and then activate the rock again. You could also just reload an older savegame and taunt and kill the dremora again and see if the script works that time.
Alternatively I altered the script slightly to fix what I think might be the bug. It should work retroactively.
It so happens that I also made a possible "fix" for this. The script on Anhaedra is not really needed at all.

I had a different problem with this quest: after killing Anahedra I was expelled from the Temple (Morroblivion v. 0.63). I tried to do it a few different ways and everything went O.K. when I struck Anahedra once or twice, but with a poisoned weapon (Shock Damage, Alchemy 100, full Master set) and waited until Daedra was killed by poison.

Wait, I was supposed to kill him? The uesp entry http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Pilgrimage_to_Maar_Gan says you don't need to kill him. I've gotten through the quest anyway doing what I posted above, but was I supposed to kill the dremora?
In Morrowind I even didn't know there is an option to not to kill him. And sometimes I was doing that without the quest, just for fun and to practice fighting skills (and to get Daedra Heart and Silver Longsword).
