Snow Elvish remnants on Solstheim

Submitted by Althinor on

Hello dear hardworking renewal modders,

Well alongside the usual great jobs, good goings an awesome work until now! I would like to suggest something for the island of Solstheim. Namely the addition of one (or a few) Snow elven ruins in honour of the snow prince and the battle of the Moesring. This mainly because I found the snow elven ruins in Skyrim to be the most intoxicatingly beautiful thing in the entire game, the sad but awed feeling I got from walking through the Fogotten Vale is the highest contender for best gaming moment in my life.

As an extention for my love for the snow elves I made a house mod for Skyrim with a relating theme (here is a link). Now I also love the idea of bringing the snow elves to Morrowind, lore wise there is a basis for a snow elven ruin on Soltheim, it being on of the final havens for the snow elves. A lore explanation could be that the Nords build Jolgeir Barrow on a snow elven ruin as to give the prince a final resting place near his home from when he was still alive.

Now I know that you guys have a lot of work to do even without possible idea's that have a slight lore foothold. So I present you with some work that I have done till now, there are more screenshots in this Gallery:

I hope you see a possibility in this, if not: no harm done, a suggestion is a suggestion

To the diligent reader who finished this post: let me know what you think!

As far as suggestions go this is definitely one of the better ones. Use existing assets to give a little more flair to a vanilla location. I wouldn't see the harm in there being one small remnant of the Snow Elves on Solstheim, although Bloodmoon is still a ways away.

The third image gave me an idea however. If those spheres are animated they would be ideal for a certain place in Vivec [External image]

Hmm I didn't think of that before, but they could be used there as well. Here is a quick GIF I made of the orrery, I put it in as an attached file since it's a tad big (10MB) to show the complete loop

I didn't realize that Solstheim is not scheduled to be made in a long time, but I should've.

[External image]hmmm living snow elves would be a no because the nordts would have whiped them out hard on solstheim beeing there last stand and al

if there would be snow elve ruins around stil the would be very wel hiding  maby on the side of a mountion that the sealed of be collapsing the mountion side on it so the nordts wouldnt get there hands on there snow elv relics the saved from skyrim and so just a idea

well at least this suggestion isnt a stupid one like the others.

Would have the check lore, but surely there could be some areas of solstheim that still contained ruins on the surface, and the [spoilers] resting place of you know how ] should be more grandoise.

Sadly, solstheim is DLC and its a long way off. we're talking a year +

HECK YES -- a Falmer ruin on Solstheim. Potentially in an underground grotto or something similar. It would actually make sense lore-wise, seeing as how there actually is a Snow Elf-related quest in Bloodmoon. It would need to be tied to that quest, and it would need to be limited to one location.

But to agree with the others, Solstheim is still a ways off production wise. There is a guy who's been working on the landscaping as a hobby (and is doing a damn fine job) -- I can't remember his name. You may want to track him down and see about joining up with him. Maybe the two of you can knock it out if you feel so inclined.

However, your attention could definitely benefit Skywind by helping on that front. That's just a higher priority at the moment.

Oh, and your orbiting orrery pieces could very likely be used in Vivec -- it would just need to be on a larger scale.

Sounds good to me... possibly the cave underneath Lake Fjalding which has lots of water, which could house a Falmer settlement with actual Falmer there.
