Guild upgrade

Submitted by Wubonater on

I always though some of the guilds in morrowind were kind of weak at times, The great houses were great for there conflict and that is what morrowind struck me as, a game of power struggles. so i have made a list of ideas to make it better, but i Just got skywind to load on CK and im trying out for clutter and random placement things. So i really hope to get a bit of help with this.

1

Thieves:

The thieves guild in morrowind confused me, in daggerfall they where hidden, and they came to you after you committed a crime, but in morrowind they are in the open. They brake imperial law and they are not protected by house Hlaalu like the Camonna tong so they would be busted fast. so making them more hidden would be important to lore, even oblivion know this.

Next the Cammona tong should be a joinable guild, so the revelry can be seen differently, and when the theives guild is stealthy the cammona are more thug like. and it will put you in good with house hlaalu.

2.

Slavery:

Slavery should be updated so you can join the twin lambs and go on quests to free slaves, or join Dres slave traders and and capture escaped one.

3.

Assassin:

The dark brotherhood should be a join able faction. maybe the same way in daggerfall, or oblivion, if you kill so many innocent people, or you have to find Severa Magia. but that would mean they could not attack (for Tribunal) because you're part of the guild so maybe the morag tong could attack instead, it would mean you cant do the hunt the dark brotherhood quest.

Or during the hunt the dark brotherhood quest Dandras vules recruits you because he is impressed with your work.

So dark brotherhood quests would be more stealthy and high risk because you are not legal like the Morag tong, and if you are in the Tong you are not allowed in the brotherhood Vise versa.

Werebeasts:

Maybe add werebears to solstheim, but it would be hard to. but if it were added it would be cool and lore friendly

Would just require designing then making a quest with CK and scripts.  Not hard stuff to learn if you want it badly enough.  ;)

What's it doing that it's not working?

My CK's broke, it will not load anythink, so i just give ideas

We are in desperate need of such people.

There are a lot of things that can be done for Skywind without CK.

It loads skyrim but if i try and load anything else it crashes

That's easy to fix. It happens to everyone. A quick google search would probably solve it. If not, tell me what is wrong and I might be able to help.

Ideas<Work

To say the project is oversaturated with suggestions is putting it mildly. Everyone wants to include a new feature or expand on some things that made Morrowind great, but very few are actually doing the work. It doesn't happen by magic, so unless you are willing to learn the Skyrim CK tools it is very unlikely your (or anyone's idea) is going to be implemented any time soon, if at all.

If you look at some other suggestion threads you'll notice a similar trend of downvotes simply because there's a lot of talk and optimism and very little actual contributions.

Getting CK in order, and learning the ropes would be a good way to garner good karma ;)

My CK will not load skywind, it just crashes. so I can do nothing, I'm trying to fix the problem, but nothing i do works.

Also, I give ideas because i want to help, and Ideas can help the mod move forward infact they ask for ideas, and help, but I am a freshman, I can't buy equipment that easy.

My advice would be to uninstall Skyrim completely, then re-install it.

If you have the steam version of Skyrim (which now that I think of it, may be all copies of Skyrim), uninstall it, too.

I had a problem with my Creation Kit not working and did a Google search. I found others with the same problem -- and thus a solution -- within five minutes of looking and had it fixed in another five.

If I remember correctly, I had to delete and then reinstall the Creation Kit.

That's just the thing Wubonater; ideas that add onto the pile of work that we already have to bring vanilla Morrowind to live don't accelerate or help us bring the mod to live. It's just another bunch of requests.

For thieves, I like the idea that they contact with when commit some crime (maybe just steal sth and be caught and sent to jail, and after all small meeting)

--------

Maybe it is not my area here, but many quests were very plain and simply boring in Morrowind. I mentioned that earlier but I am almost sure that many of them would be designed different now than in 2002. Sometimes I have impression that it is caused by technological limitations and lack of time. For examples thieves guild was not so bad, but in many case it was simple fetching. Instead of redesigning quest's goals it's better to enrich it with restricted area like in Skywind, add more triggers (additional condition that, u can drunk one person, that he can't track u and then u don't have to worry about him/her, or trick someone that he has to leave now (say that someone is in danger etc.) or find out schedule of some npc by asking around (how find him, when he is alone or when he sleeps) or do some puzzle to get some thing (I don't know, u need some special key to open locked secret place behind fireplace). Just add some small conditions which make game more lively.

For example Balmolager quests were terribly boring. Maybe I am only one that I think like that but they had lack of creativity compare them to Skyrim or Oblivion (yeah, I know that many will not agree with me) quests. Just fetching. I'm talking about gameplay, not story.

Other thing, just compare Morag Tong quests to Dark Brotherhood in Oblivion or in Skyrim. Sometimes u get cool directions how u have to kill someone. Why won't client pay extra if u kill someone in some odd way or just enhance some combat with them (I don't know if u meet some wizard, then he will teleport u to some place where the fight will take place) whatever. Sth more than simply killing one by one.

Anyway, Telvanni quests which were quite fun compare to Fighters guild which in most cases were so so. I'm not talking about total changing quests but only about making some of them less boring. I know that most of quests are done already but maybe some of them can be upgraded only by adding additional scripts  or events without changing main goals (maybe I'm wrong). It sounds a bit like complaining but IHMO I think that Skywind can lose quite a lot of by just coping Morrowind in that case. Of course main quest is separate discussion.

I haven't seen such discussion here but maybe it will be worth to start now.
