To the developers of morroblivion

Submitted by Ironballs on

I just wanted to say that I love you all so very much!

Morrowind for me was one of the greatest games ever made. Ive played countless hours since its initial release on the xbox. Oblivion is another game that is very near and dear to my heart; having played it for astronomical lengths of time. I love it almost as much as morrowind. That being said, oblivion did make some nice and much needed improvements over morrowind in terms of gameplay. For you guys to have combined the amazing lore and world of morrowind with the much better graphical fidelity and gameplay of oblivion is nothing short of miraculous. I love you anyone who had anything to do with making this project come to life. Lastly, a big warm thanks to qwertyasdfgh; your installation guide is marvelous. Extremely concise and user friendly.

I feel compelled to add to Ironballs' comments.

My playing experience is on the PC with Oblivion first -- which I quite enjoyed -- but I had always heard that the Morrowind story was much deeper and involved.  So I bought MW through Steam and installed it but while playing it found its more primitive graphics and user interface too distracting.

Then I found Morroblivion.  I had some struggles getting it all working with the Oblivion mods that I already had.  Some had to go by the wayside to improve stability.  And I did a lot of trial and error (mostly error) testing my mod load order.

All along the way the mod community was very friendly and helpful to me -- especially brainslasher, qwerty, and roxon.  Bjorn also coached me through using the console to fix a vexing problem with Fighters Guild expulsion while going through Percius Mercius' quest.  Everyone showed a great deal of patience when I asked obviously (to me later) questions.

I now have over 100 hours of playing time with Morroblivion installed and have had minimal issues.  The experience has been so enjoyable that I always look for more opportunities to carve out time to play it.

Thanks everyone at TES Renewal!  Well done.  Very impressive!

Thanks :)

Nice to see people still appreciate it, even considering that Oblivion is quite an old game by now (and it didn't age very well either).

To play Skyrim I need to invest in more powerful PC hardware. The processor in the box I have now is not fast enough and the graphics card would be marginal.  Someday that may be possible, but for now Morroblivion and Oblivion will have to do.

Does Oblivion's not "aging well" mean that Morroblivion development is finished now?

I think with the right mods ( Shademe, OCO 2, Tes4LODGen, ENB, OBGE, weather mods, new textures, etc.) Oblivion can look very good and has aged a lot better than other games from 2006. Unfortunately it's just very poorly optimized in comparison to a game like Skyrim.

I'd also like to thank everyone who made Morroblivion possible and is still working on it. And as long as people are interested in it I'll do what I can to help improve this project.

No, of course not. I was merely making an observation.

Hate to necrobump but I just want to say after playing Skyrim, even after modding the godawful interface, it all still all just rubs me the wrong way.  A few times I played Skyrim through to a bit after wasting one dragon & hanging out with the creepy old men, then I went back to Morroblivion.  Comparing it to Skyrim, the above complaints & the Morroblivion nostalgia trip angle more than makes up for the worse graphics.

Skyrim is extremely mediocre without mods, one of the best games ever with them. It's true that it overly simplified its leveling-up/strategic aspect, but that's a tertiary consideration for me.

Morrowind, however, had the best main quest plotline in all TES games and its unique setting is the reason why I play Morroblivion, even though stuff in it still occasionally goes mildly cooky. Speaking of which, is there a Morroblivion screenshots thread where you can post them? West Gash with the new climate system looks magnificient!

Not really. We used to have a gallery section, but it was removed during site update.

You can just create a topic. I would be interested to see how the game looks on different configs as well.
