Old Morrowind Clothing and Weapons

Submitted by Evil Metro on

Hello, I've recently installed the newest version of Morroblivion on a clean install of Oblivion. I'm having issues with old Morrowind meshes and texture-based clothing and weapons. I remember using a good clothing replacement mod that just used Oblivion clothing counterparts but I'm having an issue to find it. Eloth's Clothing Replacer made my NPC's wear invisible clothing, and qwerty's Clothing Galore mod didn't seem to make a noticable difference. Also, the iron dagger at the start of the game is its Morrowind version, which makes the dagger's handle clip through your character's hand. I remember having a mod for this a couple years ago that replaced the iron dagger with the one from vanilla Oblivion, but I have no idea what or where that mod is now. Any help? I also have Vvardenfell Imports installed, of course.

Apparently I made a post in 2011 about the clothing issue:

I guess Eloth's mod fixed it for me back then, but for some reason now it doesn't want to work. The only difference now is that I'm using Wrye Bash to install it, rather than using OBMM before. Any ideas?

That's not a bug, that's just how it is - for the weapons part at least. Not sure why eloth's clothing replacer doesn't work for you - I'm not using that mod myself.

Did you download all parts? I can remember that I had the same problem as you, but after I read all comments in the Thread I realized that the latest download link is only an update.

No, I just downloaded the update.rar, but that makes sense now. Thanks for the help, Björn. As for the old weapons, I found this mod and I'm going to try it out: https://tesrenewal.com/forums/morroblivion/mods/1450

Edit: Alright, I got Eloth's Clothing Replacer to work perfectly, but that mod I posted above doesn't replace common weapons. I think I used Darknut's weapon replacer before, but I can't find it. Could someone redirect me to that page? Or if you know a better/more up to date mod, feel free to post it.

I just need a mod that replaces the old weapons which clip through your hand with Oblivion counterparts.

Mod you linked is integrated in the main package. If the mod you're looking for is not on our mod list, there's a good chance it doesn't exist.

I had this issue before but I downloaded some mod that changed those weapons. I'm not even sure if that mod exists anymore or what mod did it, but it fixed this issue:

Do you use any type of mod to correct this or do you just play Morroblivion with the weapon handles clipping through your character's hands? All I know is that at one point in time, I somehow fixed this with a mod (though it's probably long gone by now).

I'm just using vanilla Oblivion's body model, could that be part of the problem? That mod looks great! Does it replace the standard weapons in Vvardenfell or does it just add those weapons to random loot in Cyrodiil?

Check out this video and go to 6:52, that's the working dagger.

So I guess this was something in a previous version of Morroblivion that got removed and replaced with the clipping weapons... Are there any mesh fixes available?

Yeah, I took a look at that one. I might get it, but I notice that the iron and silver sword sets are the most affected by this problem.

Can you do yourself a Patch for the  weapons on Nexus to use them.

I could, but most of the meshes I need aren't included in those files.

You do not Need Vvardenfell Imports to  Play  Morroblivion anymore, would you like a Copy of Darknuts Weapons

Yes please!

Thanks for the download, unfortunately I'm still experiencing the same problem.

The dagger from the video is an Oblvion dagger because the original converter replaced a few Morrowind items with their Oblivion counterparts. Some of those were manually changed back to Morrowind style items because they fit better. The bug with the robes' and shirts' arms not appearing is due to the naming of the blocks in the nif files. If they're called UpperBody they won't show up in first person. If you unpack the BSA, open the file you want with nifskope and edit the block names to something like "Arms" they will show up. But those items and clothes are relatively low level items so once you're advanced further enough you'll probably be wearing armor and using better weapons anyway. Simply exploring the caves around Seyda Neen will provide you with better equipment.

I know, it's just the immersion aspect of it. I cringe when I see NPC's that are holding half of their weapon's blade, I can get past the clothes not being quite right, though.

The weapon model could probably be moved but every single instance of it ingame would have to be moved by the same amount as well. Otherwise you might get misplaced daggers. Pretty sure TES4Edit can do that but I don't know how. Alternatively just change the model path in the CS yourself it would take less than a minute to do.  But I can't guarantee the models would be placed correctly at all times. I made this esp that makes all Morrowind iron daggers use Oblivion models. Daggers might be stuck into tables and walls a little deeper but nothing too major.

Alright, thanks! It's a start, I could expand on it and add in iron and steel weapons. Too bad I'm horrible when it comes to modifying meshes because it looks like they just need a little tweak to be moved up a tiny bit.

Anyone willing to help me use NifSkope to modify the weapon holding placements? I've never created a mesh before but I just want to make a mod that fixes weapon clipping by slightly moving the point that a character would grab their sword.

It's relatively simple. First you have to unpack the desired mesh from the Morrowind_ob - Meshes.bsa file. For this you can use a program like BSA Commander. Then open the mesh in Nifskope, right click the root node named 0NiNode, click Transoform>Edit. There you can move the entire mesh on its axes. After you're done, save the mesh and place it into the Data folder with the exact folder structure where you found it in the BSA which in case of the iron weapons would be /data/Meshes/Morroblivion/Iron/.
