Ascadian Rocks

Submitted by robbinsmoth on

Rocks, rocks and more rocks. This is more of a progress update than anything.

Got to fine tune the colors more (The moss looks a little garish). Everything sculpted in Zbrush and textured in PS.

If anyone has a better eye for how these should be looking too, im all ears :)

Hey thanks guys!

All done for now - gonna send these through someones way to put in CK. I'm curious to see if the texture looks alright in the editor - i think i might edit the texture at a later date.

Heres a pic:

I also built a lovely (but oh so basic) test scene to see how they sit:

Also keep an eye out for ErikChristiansen and myself as we will be streaming and writing up some tutorials. Hopefully we can shed some light on the 3D modelling process - i myself will be covering how to create textures from scratch using Zbrush and PS. Here's a little teaser of what to expect:

More rocks! If you have been watching my Twitch stream this is old news.

Just wanting some feedback and shit. The Kidney fern thingies sort of turned out OK, but they may not fit with the current ascadian theme. What do you guys think.

They look great and definetly fit the region, though I'd desaturate them slightly. Green this vibrant would be more likely found in Bitter Coast, more of a swampy area, while Ascadian Isles have a touch more subtle colours. At the same time, the algae hue that's very lightly airbrushed onto the rock could be a bit brighter :P Algae tend to be pretty vibrant green.

But yeah, to really nail down the colour scheme would probably require to have a look at those rocks in-game.

Hey cool, darker greens would definitely be more fitting - thought it needed something.

i think i might replace the green in the rock for brown, and let an alpha handle the moss / algae / lichen

cheers for the feedback :)
