Making a custom cuirass help

Submitted by brutal7 on

I am trying to make a custom cuirass using a body mesh from another game. I have successfully ported hats and weapons into that game but not a cuirass. I think i just need to make it work with the oblivion skeleton for a body, but how do i do this? And is there any more to it?

Btw i use blender.

Brutal, I think you're still looking in the wrong place for help. We aren't experienced 3-D modelers. You would probably be much better served going to TesAlliance or someplace like that.

This is the only place i know of, the other modding communities would not allow ported content discussion.

What about NifTools? They aren't tied to any specific game. They just make the tool, maybe they won't get bent out of shape.

Armor pieces are a bit complex. I find the best way to figure out stuff like this is to import an item similar to what you are trying to accomplish.
Importing a cuirass, I see that it actually has "bones" with the same name as the corrosponding ones on the standard character skeleton. It looks like the best way would be to open one of those, replace the armor meshes with your own, and then attach the armeture and weight the bones approprietly.

I am really no genius at this. I am getting better. I uploaded the file if anyone would like to see it. http://www.mediafire.com/?ur3fycc3a388t8z

Also, my blender messes up when i control p and parent to armature. After that the box doesnt go away and i cant do anything.
