Speaking of shoes. I'm working on the sculpt and I'm at the mid-range surface details. I wanted to get some feedback before I start the final pass of the sculpt. If anyone wants to share an opinion I'd be very grateful. The yellow stuff around the opening and the sole is going to be a rope of gold thread and the designs are going to be embroidery of the same golden thread.
I don't want to go too Dunmer on the embroidery. I'd like it to be generic enough for all wizards. However, I'm not entirely sure what kind of designs I should use. If anyone would care to join me in a discussion on shoe design, please chime in.
Hmm, I intentionally added the segments to make it look like a bug abdomen and go with the robe better, so Dunmeric embroidery would go well with it too.
HOWEVER, one model can have multiple textures to create many different items, and I'd love to see this shoe shape in more variations ;)
I think this design is a pretty close to Dunmer while still being a little universal. What do you guys think. If we likes then the shoe can be sent for skinning very soon. I still need to add a little top stitch to the segments and a darkened crease between them.
I don't like the ornament. If it's supposed to be the Dunmeri design, I would go for something more primitivistic (as in original; just recall Dunmeri images of saints) and remove curves in favor of spikes (as it was proposed in Racial motifs). Or maybe make it more assymetrical? For now it seems more Colovian.
For some reason I feel like it would help to have something going down the middle of the top of the shoe, something dunmeri like tiny decorative bug shells like buttons or something to hold it together, idk perhaps that would be too cheesy but maybe you can see what I'm getting at.
Here are two versions of the shoe. The blue one has Dunmeri runes and is complimentary in color to the robes. The tan one matches the trim on the heavy apron part of the robe. The runes on this version show a more foreign influence, making it appropriate for Hlaalu and outlanders.
This project is all done and the last of the assets are sent off for skinning and merging. I'm starting my next project now. Thank you for your consideration.

I really like how it looks, in all my time playing Morrowind I never noticed that there where wings on those robes. lol
