Crash on level up, tried everything

Submitted by dethmaskxdivine on

Installed morroblivion, it ran pretty smoothly untill the first level up. Upon sleeping, choosing attributes and pressing exit the game crashes everytime. I tried uninstalling all other mods, didnt work, I reinstalled the game, didnt work. I did some searching before posting here and found others who had this issue who fixed it by going to the oblivion ini file, finding the line "STrackLevelUpPath=\\vault\TES4\LevelData\" and delete everything after the "=" and this didnt work either. So im totally out of ideas to fix this and have no idea what is going on. help plz

So, you don't have mods other than Morroblivion? Did you install any mods without esp files, like UI mods?

Have you tried deleting the Oblivion.ini?

nope no other mods, yes i moved the Oblivion.ini file and replaced it with Oblivion_default.ini before i tried reinstalling the game and it didn't work either.

and also, this bug only occured when playing morroblivion, ive had numerous characters on that installation of oblivion with no problems like this, it only happened once i installed and started playing morroblivion

You only have to Delete your Oblivion.ini your Game will Create a New One when you Start your  Game . https://tesrenewal.com/forums/morroblivion/mods/753

read here you are not Running all the Requirements. Read Above Link. Most of the Patches are Not Need for Morroblivion and dont effect the Game. Could try Load Order like this in .txt.

With Shivering Isle.esp Below the .esm

Try going into Options when you Start your Game  and un_Tick all Auto Save Options, and Delete your Oblivion.ini First.

You Start your Game with OBSE,, Use OBMM,, or Weye to Control your Load Order, and Installed your Game Where.

In your Oblivion Before you Installed Morroblivion did you have any Files you Removed that Left an .ini file in Data\ini   directory  or anything that Left files in Data\menu directory

Seriosly, what's up with people just ignoring the SI requirement lately? Do you not have the expansion at all or did you just deselect the DLCShiveringIsles.esp?

Is your game patched to 1.2.0.416 at least?

I think it's because SI is a 'feelgood' app and for me does nothing to enhance the game except add a lot of silly stuf. Some folks don't want to pay bethsoft for a 'mod' that should be free.

Although some of the meshes and textures in SI are nice, I've decided that for me it is not worth the price. I bought it once, tried to use it, got very disappointed, uninstalled it,  deleted the files. I know other folks don't agree but I just don't like it.

SI is available at amazon and many other stores as low as $.01 for a used dvd that may or may not work. You still pay shipping cost ...

also check ebay ... I found one for $.75 plus shipping. (might load and work)

What does it have to do with you liking\not liking Shivering Isles?

It's required for resources used, you don't have to play it if you don't want to.

qwerty, the only thing I know is that when I had it installed I had serious problems with everything. I tried to locate a single mod or 2 (or 12) that was conflicting, but never found anything that I could say was the cause. I spent several days trying different things, but no joy.

yes, I have all the patches installed. I reinstall them every time I install oblivion ..
I uninstall oblivion first ... then
 Oblivion 1.0 install (from dvd)
 SI Install(from dvd)
 Oblivion 1.1.511 Patch
 Oblivion 1.2.416 Patch

When I uninstalled SI the problems went away. I won't install it again. I got tired of playing with it. It's not on my H/D any longer and I'm not sure where I put the dvd.

I've compensated for 'missing mesh' and 'missing texture' issues as I find and identify them, so I don't need SI at all.

steph The right installation should be:

1)Oblivion

2)Oblivion patch 1.2.416

3)Shivering Isle

4)Oblivion Shivering Isles Patch 1.2.416(it's the same version but different patch)

5)Other DLCs and mods

Installing the old 1.1.511 patch should not be needed

Never had a trouble with this install order.(And if you are trying to use the Oblivion only patch after SI install problem will occur)

Also some Morroblivion script are programmed with SI in mind and will be bugged without it.

yea, I fixed those ... they needed to be neutral.

I've essentially made morroblivion into a mod that I like, without the 'special' things included. It's just for me and the way I like to play the game. The problem I usually have is when I install a new version of morroblivion and it has some new things that were not in the previous version that cause crashes and missing textures and stuf. I just have to add the new stuf to my modified mod so my game works the way I want it to ..
