Hello,
My name is Leerox and I am a HUGE fan of everything the modders are doing with SkyWind, as well as the Elder Scrolls Series, and I REALLY want to help with ANYTHING. The problem is, I have very low experience in anything concerning modeling, or even modding overall. The ONLY mod I have ever worked on for any game was a Knights of the Old Republic 2 mod where I edited the dialog of an NPC and assigned tasks to the NPC through Scripting. My first point however, is "How?". I want to LEARN how to model, how to script, how to WORK with the engine, I am a VERY fast learner, and I can remember TONS off the top of my head with little usage, I just need to know how I can do these wonderful things. Before I knew what an engine was, I believed modding was the HARDEST thing in the world, but no it isn't because there are engines that help create software to help you BROWSE file archives and edit lines of scripting and models easily. So if ANYONE has a LOT of spare time, a LOT of expertise in any of the following: Modeling, Scripting, Animation, Texture-creating, it would be GREAT if you could tell me what I could do to become a better modder, and hopefully begin to help with development of SkyWind.
Thank you for your time,
Leerox

Hi Leerox.
Hi Leerox.
I'm one of the people in charge of rounding people up for Modeling and Textures. If you had to pick an area, what area would you say interests you the most? I'm only asking because we get a lot of people with little to no experience wanting to help (which is most certainly not bad :) ) and it helps to know what you exactly want to do.
In regards to the creation of assets - such as Modeling, Animation, Texturing and shading, and rendering - I should mention its not something that is easily picked up. For most people it takes a lot of practice, trial and error, and time to get familiar with the tools required to produce anything usefull.
But we're not wankers, and you'll find the community here pretty willing to help people such as yourself.
If your willing to learn some of the skills required to do some Modeling and Texturing then I'm happy to show you. As a Maya user myself, you will have to get access to a copy of Maya (if you are a student you can sign up to Autodesk Student and get the full version for 4 years for free), as well as have access to Photoshop. If you pick it up fairly quickly and understand some of the processes involved, then i can show you some more advanced things like Zbrush, and some other tools for transferring textures.
So yeah, I'm happy to teach you some stuff, but you have to be willing to put the time and effort in. Its not an easy road, but it's a very rewarding and satisfying one!
