Bards in Skywind?

fantastic  would love to hear this in the taverns and some other Celtic folk keep it coming :D

I have been thinking about coming back to help. Your song would be on the list.

There are several Bards in Morrowind, in the original, they just never had songs to play.

I was about to ask about this :) Hopefully I can throw together a couple of bard songs :)

@donAllistor, if you're looking to come back to help do you feel like throwing these ones in, if the vid author gives permission? I think they'd make great lute tracks. (I will ask him if you are)

In your previous thread it looks like you got pretty far in implementing bards playing instruments. Was it finished? Is it reflected in the latest build yet or does it remain a separate package? If you're having issues with the .xms filetype rather than .wav let us over at VA handle it since we're doing these sorts of conversions for our files.

In terms of bards singing, if you're an accepted VA (like LadyKdescending) and there are bards available for your skywind race/gender assignment I think this is very possible. Perhaps throw it by Smitehammer as he handles a lot of the creative side of things to see how best to go about this.

@jympagel, your irish accent used in how you sing may be passable for a Nord, but not ideal (but I know that's part of the appeal). If the wabbajack song was to be included it would have to be re-recorded without all the extra layering. Just a simple guitar and 1 voice. Also bards have quite a few lines beyond just singing... The workaround I'll propose is if they're re-recorded in this stripped down manner they can be added as a random encounter (a wandering lute playing nord, possibly a bit insane), ideally I'd only have to give your character a small subset of lines (combat related, perhaps a greeting or two and a line about why he's wandering the back country) and that would work. Would you be up for this?

If they give permission, I think they would make excellent additions.

Basically the functionality is done, the core scripting and scene builds were working when I last touched it. They played and started playing when you enter the space/cell. It was actually really tricky to work on, took me months, but I got it working using a different triggering system than the original bard system. Due to the nature of the mod it needed it's own system. Bards in the original Skyrim had a lot of limitations that I had to work around.

I don't know if it was ever implemented in the main build, but I'm hoping to get the latest version soon and find out. The last I knew it was a standalone mod in the Skywind game. I got the xms to work fine.

Back when I was working on it I did my best to get unique songs, and could add a song with singing. It's all about scenes really. It would also be really nice to have unique voices for the bard for individual triggers like fights and seeing dead bodies. It's been a bit since I worked on it, and it was pretty complex, so I'd have to refresh myself on what I did.

I've messaged him, I'll tell you what the status of those songs are when he gets back to me. Bards in skywind will have their own voice actors assigned to them, so any singing would be best to be coming from them. If there is a particular song with vocals you'd like to use not from our list of VAs it may be good to contact the singer to see if they would VA some additional lines for the bards for continuity's sake. Their recordings however would have to pass Smitehammer's auditioning bar, but he may be more lenient if there acting isn't great but the songs really add a lot to the characters.

i'm loven' it

Hello! I've auditioned as a voice actress, but I'm also a singer. I didn't know where to ask about this, but where should I audition as a bard?

Hi Sophia, We're not actively working on bards at this moment but it's on that "to do" list. We'll check through this thread when we get around to it and run into your post :) Can't say when this would happen atm unless someone wants to spearhead it.

This is what i believe how  dunmer bards should sound like in Skywind:

Especially the ashlanders, which i envision to sound something like this:

Mongolian ethno music really fits the ashlander culture.

Anyway, i just wanted to share an idea hoping someone might get inspired by this since i have no experience modding the game.

Bards have been implemented. We may expand the musical range if we get more musical instrument models in-game and corresponding animations, but we were limited by what was available.

Perhaps consider having music wafting out of inaccessible buildings, if there's such a thing?

Hi Everyone

I'm Tom and I used to have an account on here, under the name of Omz 97, unfortantly my email was deleted and therefore I couldn't log on. Blast!

Anyways I made a new account, this time called Omz_97, and I wanted to post my Bard solo's if you guys still want some Bard music :)

Here are the Flute and Lute pieces Hope you like them [External image]

Here's a cover of the Skyrim theme I recorded.  I will probably record the Morrowind theme as well.  You're free to use it if you like, no problem if not.
