Thanks for your interest.  We're working toward a beta public release in the coming weeks.  We'll make an announcement when we have something ready to share.

I don't want to get anyone's hopes up prematurely. We still have a lot of asset work to do before we can officially release Skywind in any form. We of course would love to release it sooner to the public but for legal reasons we cannot until we have complete asset replacement of a released area. I'd reframe a public beta more in terms of this year, fingers crossed :).

Wait, what? When was this decided? We are not even close to a position to do that.

Curious, what legal reason would that be?

A lot of the morrowind assets still exist in the game which we need to remove. (Models basically). Thats why the art team is super buisy remaking as much as possible

Just to clarify this is not true. But Skywind is always available for developers, you just need to prove you have modding experience.

Also to clarify, we will not have public testing at all. When we are closer to testing we will look to set up an official testing team, but your role as a tester will also be that of one that can fix problems. It'll be like a tiered system, when only you can't resolve the issue yourself then it'll get posted for further developers to look at.

by "coming weeks" does that mean with in a month or two?

"by "coming weeks" does that mean with in a month or two?"

Did you even read what SquallyDaBeanz or GrumpyCat wrote!?

I've been looking into a very early alpha version of the game I found on the web(9.0 something). I first must say astonishing work guys and girls!

If there is any need of bandwidth for moving large stuff around like big files or a release I'll be glad to help. I have a 4 TB storage, 1000/1000mbit server at my disposal with FTP/SSH and torrenting features.

Regards Nezzer.

"Well you convinced me give this man early access he's got very valid points"

In all honesty I don't know why people want to play it so bad. Its not finished, have some patience. The game will be so much sweeter if you wait.

As someone only recently invested in this topic (as evidenced by my newborn status on the forums), I've found that coming here has led me rather downhill. I knew the wait was far from over, patience would be required, and that this is a massive undertaking. What I've found are a large group of people who are working hard (as expected), and are surrounded by two disparate forces:

One desperately wants access, ANY kind of access, to this product, finished, stable... NONE of that matters to them. Thus, why you took down the Alpha Downloads. I agree with and respect this decision, as I do the locking of the thread "discussing" it's removal.

The other are modders themselves, who have either seen vast projects of their own falter (you know of whom I speak) or are unnecessary to your current development needs (again, needs no explanation).

I am a fan of Elder Scrolls since Morrowind in my early teens. I've played the last three installments, and look forward to the already incredible work I've seen (thank LASentry, he's keeping people flowing in). I WILL wait. I will be thankful. I will have faith in you, your dedication, and your will to complete this beautiful and ambitious piece of craftsmanship. I don't know the Creation Kit, or I'd beg to do mundane tasks JUST to leave the important things to the more experienced modders. I'm just a man living a dismally normal life, who always wanted to live in a world where the decisions you made determined who you became. That was the greatest thing about Morrowind. Be the hero, be the bastard, whatever you MADE of yourself. This is something I wish I could help with because I believe in it. I'll just say that, and I'll be here, cheering you all on, as it's all I can do.

I apologize for the confusion my post generated.  I should have said coming months (best case scenario)  - and even then it would be a early stage beta, not a full public release.

I didn't mean to get anyone's hopes up.  I was only trying to relay that we're working diligently on creating a build that could be tested by those within the community that wanted to help out.

At the end of the day, Grumpy and others have a much better idea of our launch schedule than I do and I should have left this question to them in the first place.

Again - I apologize for the confusion.

No problems of course Kreisher, but I'll have to correct this as well. Beta for us will be version where you can finish the main quest, relatively bug free. A couple of months does not cover anything near these goals.

If we did put it up for public again anytime soon, it still be extreme Alpha. Beta is a weird term, different meanings for different projects, but I just so happened to watch a Gopher video about this and you can make the mistake of telling people its Beta, but that is the last step before a release. We are many steps away from a release.

Beta is a feature complete game with bugs

anything less than that is Alpha/ pre-alpha.
