Minor Issue: Ilmeni Dren shouldn't always treat you as a trespasser

Submitted by LoneWolfEburg on

This philantropic lady (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Ilmeni_Dren) shouldn't treat you as a trespasser in her flat no matter what time of the day it is.

In fact, all people who rent flats at St. Olms' and St. Delyn's treat you as a trespasser no matter what time of the day it is. This may be appropriate with them, but definitely not appropriate for Ilmeni, since she has quests for you.

never mind, missed that you need to be House Hlaalu to advance her quests. probably still worth a casual check, though.

I remember doing her House Hlaalu quests and I din't need to trespass.

On the other hand, most of Vivec City NPC currently don't have full AI.

Wait, apparently you are supposed to be able to do some of her quests even if you aren't Hlaalu. Uespwiki states (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Twin_Lamps):

"Once you know the password of the Twin Lamps you may give it to Ilmeni, who will send you on two quests for the faction: The Twin Lamps and Free Hides-His-Foot. Although these quests are officially House Hlaalu quests, anyone who knows the password of the Twin Lamps can start them by giving it to Ilmeni."

so this does need to be fixed after all, since currently you're unable to give her the password (and, apparently, count as a trespasser if you aren't Hlaalu?) Needs to be reviewed.

Ok, help me here - are you saying that you can't start Twin Lamp quests after you've freed enough slaves?

If so, than that's possibly another issue. Whether you're considered trespassing or not all her actual dialogue will be the same, it's just an inconvenience.

Yes, I can't start them, just checked. Freed a lot of slaves, received the "way to freedom" password. Talking about "business" with her results in her complaining that people can't read, which results in there being no new topics (I guess it's because the literacy quest is actually purely Hlaalu and is not connected to the slavery theme, meaning that only Hlaalu players can complete it, and her "people can't read" reply blocks the Twin Lamps replies to the "business" topic somehow.

Okay, here's a fix for this. The reason was that the Twin Lamps quests in Morroblivion required finishing the Literacy Campaign quest, that was Hlaalu-only (the topic 1peoplecantread was conditioned to it, resulting in it not appearing, and Ilmeni just cryptically asking "what business can there be, when people can't read?" without any appropriate replies). Therefore, non-Hlaalu people were not able to start it. I just enabled it for everyone, since it doesn't really have anything to do with House Hlaalu, just with Ilmeni's personal activism, and more quests is always good. (uespwiki is ambiguous on it but I assume that the condition of finishing Literacy Campaign is from the original).

I also removed Ilmeni's ownership of her quarters. It removed the trespassing aspect, since I don't think you should, as a rule, be able to trespass on quest givers. There isn't anything valuable there, anyway.

Well, there's no need to remove the ownership, you can just flag the interior as "Public Place" to disable trespassing checks.

Ah, I didn't know this. It should be public place, then. Edit: updated the esp with the public place flag checked and ownership restored.
