It isn't a Total Conversion, it's essentially a content mod for Skyrim and will run off the base game like any other.  It will have separate save files however and there won't be any going between the base game and Skywind on a single character without creating another mod to do so.

Hm,

so i won't be able to play with my Skyrim Charakter...

Sad:(

Skywind is set hundreds of years before skyrim, so of course you cant.
Looks like you'll have to put up with the arduous task of fiddling with sliders for 5 minutes and typing in the same name.

Actually you can skip the sliders completely by making your characters into presets.  I've made presets for all my characters already, just for Skywind and Skyblivion.

so, will there be two different program files on the desktop, one for each game, or will you open Skyrim and then have to choose whether you want to run Skyrim or Skywind?

Thank y'all for spending so much time on this project, I can't wait to play it. I wish I could help, but I don't know thing one about programing.

I think they currently have it setup to where you access Skywind through Skyrim.

ok. in that case, I have SKSE, will that interfere with Skywind?

I believe it's actually a requirement for Skywind, or at least it will be for some of the systems.  There shouldn't be any mods that interfere with Skywind in any major way, being that at its core it's simply a new map, quests, and models (some of the planned systems and such will no doubt interfere with a few things), but I don't think there will be any official word on that sort of thing until it gets a public release, which won't be for a while.  Any mods that might conflict with Skywind will likely only require minimal adjustment of either the mod itself or Skywind to function properly though.

Jorgen is somewhat right. There are mechanics which are being changed in Skywind, perk mods would almost certainly conflict with Skywind because we have done changes that the existing mods don't take into account. My advice would to be use a clean installation, then gradually work your way though the mods you normally use. We won't be adapting mods to Skywind, so either they work or they don't.

Yes, SKSE is required.

"SKSE", meaning, Skyrim Special Edition, the GOTY version, or something else I'm missing?

Script extender

Wait wait wait. SKSE is required? Then what else is required? (besides skyrim and morrowind GOTY editions)  I'm just bringing this up because I thought that SKSE would be recommended, not a requirement.

Yes, SKSE has a lot of useful functions that we simply could not do without. Why, any issues with SKSE?

No, since it's a mod I thought that it would be recommended.

I don't know any mod that "recommends" SKSE. Mods either require it or don't.

In that case, would we be providing a installer for it?
Skywind will appeal to a huge audience, and some of them may not want to go through the hassle of SKSE. So would there be a way for us to package it with skywind, or at least download it from the website and install it automatically?

If it loads through skyrim, then how will you be able to check if someone has a legitimate copy of morrowind?

From what I have been told, The installer will run a few checks to check for a copy of morrowind, or you will be asked to locate a legitimate morrowind install. how we do it is not known to me though.

I got a installer ready to be used, If needed I can include a check for SKSE ( Skyrim Script Extender ) or include a SKSE in the installer, or to be downloaded and installed.

SKSE devs is against of bundling SKSE in mods, only download from their site is supported.

will the dragonborn expansion also be required? Or just vanilla skyrim and GOTY Morrowind?

From what I understand it will require both games and all their DLC, so both GOTY editions essentially.

SKSE will be required as to make Skywind run certain scripts and events it is a necessity to have a script extender. The base Skyrim (Vanilla) engine without SKSE limits the production of mod.

jorgen,

i read it somewhere that you only require the dragonborn dlc, others said you would not need any and others said both...

I guess the dragonborn expansion is essential, since a couple of textures are shared with skywind, but i dont think you will need dawnguard.

Dawnguard has the crossbows, everyone wants crossbows.

why is morrowind required? i thought u guys are going to recreate all the assets so that means nothing will be ported, or have i got that wrong?
Im not complaining, just curious. ive got goty morrowind anyway :P

I believe it's because we're still using the intellectual property, even if none of the physical assets are from the original.

Yes Morrowind will still be required post-release due to intellectual properties to check if you have Morrowind purchased. As Skywind without that requirement is like a loophole to play Morrowind for free.
