Once Team Dwemer present themselves (i'm giving them a week to form) these should be done.
The way the dwemer interiors are built will differ slightly from original, but when we replace the meshes, the basic structure will remain, and the landscapers use the new pieces to fill in.
Dwemer interiors are now hollowed caverns, with metal corridors suspended adjoining large tall halls.
I aim to upload a new pic each day, should be 3-4 full pages of designs.

Updated. 2nd post.
And a paint over of AdamAdamwisz'd concepts for new dwemer sphere dispensers.

Dwemer Overhaul.
Edited by: grumpycat on 12/08/2014 - 18:01

This is super exciting!
Getting more time to work on these this weekend, will finish up the tall walls first (very quickly since they're almost done) and then move on to other assets
Gonna take a look at those circular doors soon, and maybe a wall set that would function as kind of a medium-sized room (like the standard vanilla morrowind dwemer room size) that could be placed as offshoots of the large halls through circular doors.
It's going well! Getting as much done this weekend as possible. School starting back up has gotten in the way of me doing anything on it this week, but this is a three day weekend so expect a lot of updates :)
Some of the more defined stuff for the overall forms for the walls, corridors.

Top one is the latest idea so far
Oh good!! Vertical pipes along halls also help bring vanilla morrowind style to the new Dwemer designs
Glad to see a return of the vanilla morrowind hallway shapes in addition to the new suspended ones!
Does this mean spheres will be limited to these caverns? Those won't fit in the corridors. I ask because this means that only spiders and ghosts will fit inside those corridors unless the team plans to keep the ballista.
I'm sure spheres would be able to sit in these corridors in their spherical idle form, like in vanilla morrowind
True
An overpaint over a screenshot of dwemer ruins' corridor from original with the forms I suggest in the earlier message

welcome to vault tech industries. for seriouse though, these look great
That last shot is gorgeous. I like the ledge created by the depression in the wall, perfect for hiding small loot/keys for chests nearby.
Everything here pleases me :)
how will the doors look? will they still open like normal doors or will they slide like hatches on a submarine?
Gonna still open like normal doors. I'm aiming to be pretty close to the originals on them, since they were pretty iconic.
heeyyy all, sorry for disappearing from the face of the earth for a little while, school just started up and so things have been pretty crazy
anyway, here are some kinda half-rendered concepts for the suspended halls that I meant to have up a while ago
lots of things going on here. first off, those angled pipe joints would have the option to be either covered or uncovered by the bulbous things seen near the back and in vanilla morrowind. it would be just a cover that would go on top of the exposed joint.
I threw in a little ledge at about knee or shin level, so that level designers could place small clutter items and loot along it if they wanted
the stone panels are sort of my interpretation of the hallway walls in vanilla morrowind. made em real quick so they're not perfect of course but hey it's just a concept
they'd be the same kind of rock as in the large dwemer halls. sorta reddish/brownish and polished but not perfect.
there would be other panels too. stone with volcanic glass windows looking out into the caverns, broken panels, hall sections that are under construction and missing panels, etc.. lots of fun stuff for variation. I'll draw them up too
would be good to see only carcass of this in some places. with Dwemer Spiders that is 'working' on it.
yep that would be the plan! I think. it's up to dwemer level designers
I think, optimally, some sections could look as if they're entirely enclosed at first, like vanilla morrowind, but as you move farther into the halls it starts to get more broken and open or incomplete and the player realizes they're actually suspended in these carved out rocky caverns. spiders could be pecking at these sections and stuff, maybe slightly flickering wall lamps could be in place for effect
One more wip for the lot

teeny update
Claim
I've found some versions of dwemer alphabet. Which is right or which do you use?
we generally go with loose translations anyway, the lore_dwemer alphabet Dwemer in 3rd tab is the one to use, dont bother with wormgod
How about dwemer preserves?
That can be good. But i think it need some decorations/labels.
---
Much better than fresh apples in Nordic Crypts :)
@alysander this is dwemer communism. no label/no extra costs
:)
I mean not 'firm sign'. I mean label with info of what inside.
@alysander How about "made in Nchurdamz" and "Nix meat". I already made them but i did not make good textures
I think there is no lore about 'what typical dwemer ate on dinner' - so it can be anything adequate.
Maybe some cave mushrooms, maybe some spiced kwama meat/eggs.
You can make some experiments with relief (pressed images/text - this can be useful underground you know).
They ate bloatspore definitely. Not sure what else, though. This is the problem with most subterranean civilizations in SciFi and fantasy.
that's a good idea, though I'm not sure what player in their right mind would eat thousands-of-years-old food
I like it, discoccult, you do good work with that tilesets, and I see Morrowind style on that new assets. When you'll done, I'll make that real ;)
Veloth, would it be too much to ask you to stay silent, unless you actually have something worthwhile to say? It really doesn't help and unnecessarily clutters the threads.
You are killing us Veloth.
Chill out Veloth, this is only game ;)
How about a dwemer cube made of etherium? Dwemers deem a cube as a perfect form. Good quest item
@Mo: For what? Dwemer techs have obvious analogs in real worlds technology.
---
I dont see it in this case. I think etherium if you like it can be more like very rare earth - so it can be in
alchemical equipment (as tiny catalytic element) or as element of some "tubes and lamps".
Waiting new concepts from discoccult ;)
@alysander Yes it's a rare item. You are able to find your own way to use maybe a new quest or so
no Mo... i am talking about very abstract form of this item. What do sense can be for simple geometric body?
Hovewer it can be placed in Dwemer abstract art gallery :) or the school - but there is no children (and education sys) in TES.
How about more strange machines? And what effects could we use for them except steaming?
Could we use electric lightning or something similar strange and mystic?
I'm thinking about dwemer testing cell where they could research a new strange energy
Maybe better to concentrate on mechanics, thermodynamics (pressure, gases, steam) and optics effects (as they have optic supercomputer u know...) which replace electricity in all of it's functions. Any electricity can destroy steampunk style effectively.
Maybe a steam testing cell?
Oh. That was a general question?
Printing press, free soulgem recharger, metal converter, magmatic boiler room, cannery machine.
All be nice if it can more interact with player.
What textures will we use for dwemer? Skyrim's or our own?
I don't wanna start a new thread for this so: When you come to overhaul the dwemer exterior buildings, could you include the turbine mesh from the weather machine in Tribunal aswell? Picture:
I just think it would make an awesome additional tower roof, together with some pipes. Idk if there are any new dwemer buildings planned, so if not this could be a good addition to the set.
I've only just seen this post and have nothing to contribute to it, however i do want to say that this is looking excellent and i cant wait to see them in game.
Dwemers always remind me builders of nonsense weird machines in steam-powered-old-school style. One big playground. So I think some system to build semi-factories and give tools for player to play with enviro would be cool. Sth like Erik mentioned some time ago. Everything has standard textures.
Also I suggest to use gas lamp in this example instead of electricity. Electricity things should be limited to a very few examples, mostly due to that many future players played Fallout before and it would be good to avoid any associations with this game as much it is possible.
1. 2. 3. are just things to fill up space.
4.a 4.b (vertical system) 4.c could be ventilators, in some case they could have enough high power to blow out player/things/ or even enemy. In some places could be some switch or other activator which you can shut it down. Additional tool for level designer.
5.a 5.b 5.c (these are with gas lamps) 5.d 5.e are some kind of engine stuff. 5.0 5.1 are just addons. One to have place to fit crankshaft, second one is transmission wheel just to have more freedom to do custom things. They can drain water, open sth, activate lighting system etc.
6.a 6.b 6.c 6.d are machines to produce some sort of beam lights.
Lenses above 6.a could be added to pipe, then we have some kind of fiber optic. Theoretically levers are to activate or deactivate things. Change lens postilions and so on. But it can remain as static object.
6.b could be source of light/lazer
6.c can refract light in other directions. Maybe even some mechanism to change angle would be nice too.
6.d could be some sort of device to fill up soul gems.
In this case you can have some opportunity to set up lenses that you can fill up gem (some low values). If you provide too much energy, you would destroy gem, if too small nothing would happen. Also "laser" (more light beam) could be used to destroy some debris (there is no need even of any animation if activator is far away from explosion site), open secret door, kill some enemy or even roast chicken leg.
7. Some sort of coil. It could have some static field which can kill/hurt you or do nothing.
8. Mechanical computer. Keyboard would be separate asset from computing machine. I didn't do too much details because this example presents the best itself. Of course it could be powered by steam and be very noisy. In control device could be some input for punched cards made from some metal plates. If someone is very hardcore geek he/she can even decorate it in binary way write "hello world" or sth else. Great place for easter eggs.
9.a 9.b 9.c are some kind of devices connected with sound. I couldn't find out some more sexy shapes.
9.b is compressed air gramophone, and how it looks (1, 2). Some kind of sonic weapon. Adding music would be too much. But some sound would be nice. For example you have some dwemer ruins with a lot of creatures/npc's. Instead of killing them you activate auxetophone to alarm animals/npc's inside and get rid off them to exterior. You wait some time and interior is empty.
9.c It is device which could fall in resonance when you hit it. It can activate sth else, whatever.
10. Just some valve for steam.
11. Split-flap display, instead of ordinary display things. It could be connected to computing machine. It not only displays text but also some primitive images. It is probably impossible to do that as working example. But some inactive example would be great to encourage future moders.
12. Just rotating gear in floor.
13. Giant capacitor for static field
14. This is more as asset but some ancient microscope would be nice too.
With other gears and pipes it would give a lot of customization opportunity. This example was done in MW from original set, so you can only imagine what can be done from greater amount of assets.More ideas are here.
---------------------
I was thinking what set would be the best to create some construction yard without too many assets, so I thought plates and steel beams are enough. With them it can be created even steel skeleton of dwemer flying machine like that.
And also dwemer crane would be cool as working example but disable example is good enough too.
----------------------
I just imagine these one as sth in background. Not specially connected with quests but nice things to play with. I'm aware this is a lot. But this is just a piece as reference to find out what could work or not. Have a nice day.
> I suggest to use gas lamp in this example instead of electricity. Electricity things should be limited to a very few examples

= I follow to every word. I'd concentrate Dwemer technology on optics, mechanics and sound (~harmonics) fields.
= Alike "some sort of coil" can use sound/resonance to kill instead of static electricity.
= Light beams can be used as light sources in deep rooms. I presume some % of them can use some light of sun or stars to work.
This tech can be used as good reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gas_mantle
Your concepts are simple and amazing.
